Putting points into the CD reduction of TC when not using a sniper rifle is literally the biggest waste of 5 power points I've ever heard of.

It's slightly useful off-host, when you occasionally get lumbered with the full cloak cooldown for no apparent reason... more useful than going from fitness 3 to 4 on the HI I found anyway *shrugs*

Let me outline exactly what others are saying.

You don't need bonus power to cloak cancel a power's CD. Any CD dependent power cast under cloak will share the CD of tactical cloak essentially. Tactical Cloak's CD is a function of weight * time spent in cloak/duration of tactical cloak. Duration or damage cloak will have identical cooldowns regardless of weight if you break cloak right away as soon as you go into it. If you break cloak after a short time you will have a cooldown that is percentage based depending on whether you took duration or damage. Cloak breaks 1 sec after a CD dependent power(assuming no bonus power), weapon shot, melee is executed and has an additional 1.5 sec damage boost for a total 2.5 increased damage window.

Also I can't watch the video at work SO I don't know if you're using non DLC weapons but you probably want to consider those don't take added mod weight if that is the case there.

I'm actually glad someone is taking the time to still mess with video guides but maybe just maybe take some of the advice of BSN even though it can come across as semitoxic at times.

But that's my point, if it's so obvious, why did you not say it in your video for all the banging on you did about how great sticky grenades are? It's the best feature of the power and you didn't mention it at all, which leads everyone here to assume (perhaps incorrectly) that you didn't know about it. Why make a guide if you're not going to explain the "hidden" mechanics of a power?

One word, pacing. In order to keep the video from dragging certain, unnecessary things needed to be cut. Initially I had a 10 page script, however, it had to be cut down to 7 in the interest of time. Why you ask? Simple, short attention spans, that's why. Besides this character guide was nothing more then a test to determine whether or not a series was actually viable.

My point exactly. Even Picard could understand...

Once again, you have failed to answer the question. But by all means continue with your poor attempt to change the topic.

Why does @T41rdEye need to waste their time answering a question that has been answered for the last five f***king pages?

Have you watched other guides? I don't mean that in a mean way. A lot of other guides go anywhere between 20-30 minutes, which includes the build and weapons in the beginning, and explaining the reasoning, tactics, and mechanics in the actual video, which is a full game. It will give you plenty of time to go over everything. Having said that, you claim the sticky grenade mechanic I mentioned was obvious. How in the world is it obvious? if you're not on the forums, you tend not to know about it because the game makes zero mention of it. This is the perfect item to put into a guide, since you literally can't find the explanation in game.

I like Darcblade15's class guides. His are about 10 minutes long, but they are very thorough and to the point.

Haven't seen any of them, but I may check them out. I like some explanation and seeing the mechanics work in game, during objectives, all while dealing with the randomness of PUGs. It also gives me a chance to see an extended look at the character, so I prefer the entire game guides better, as I have watched some of the shorter ones. But that is entirely just my preference though.

I do like full playthrough guides too, but they sometimes make me fall asleep. I usually watch Platinum and Gold solos to get better ideas of how a certain weapon works on a character I like to play. That serves as a guide for me too. If it weren't for TheNightSlasher's Venom Drelldept, I wouldn't be utilizing that today.

This is all obvious information. But thanks anyway.

So why isn't it included in your "guide" for beginners?

Heh - cool ... let me in on the secret? ;)

It seems to be when lagging a bit if you fire (or use a power) immediately after cloaking you sometimes get lumbered with the full cooldown - but I'm not sure.

I think a beginner making guides for beginners is the wrong kind of beginning to begin with.

Your shields still restore during the lag cloak, but you must suffer the long cooldown if it doesn't wear off after multiple attempts.

Pretty much this in my experience too... The triple cloak bug though, that's a b1tch...

Dude's got almost as much game time as me and a maxed manifest. I have no idea what's going on here anymore,...

Did you ever use a full-auto gun on an infiltrator off host? How many times did you get the full cloak duration then?

I've only got this bug when I was using one shot guns (Javelin, M-98 Widow, ...). You've got the right idea. You cloak and fire immediately - the way you would on host and the way it works. But because of the off host lag, the shot doesn't count as cloaked, so you're stuck with the full duration unless you manage to squeeze in another cloak-breaking action... or you wait for 0.5-1 second before firing your shot. I've not had cloak problems off host ever since I figured this out.

I don't think Max Manifest and Hours really matter much at all. I think it's all about knowledge...

I was surprised as well. Most people who play that long know most of the things we mentioned in this thread. I think that what he meant by being surprised.

I find fitness useless on most humans, but I usually end up putting 4 in it anyways on most. The HI's are the exception. No fitness, damage and bonus power in TC. I play it like this Cloak > CB > Sticky nade > shoot.

build

EDIT: The reason I use Bonus Power is so I can use CB and sticky and claymoar all while getting the damage bonus from cloak (not for the cooldown like OP). For the other HI, I tend to do the same build, but with sniper rifle damage, but that's boring and weak compared to the DAI.

Hmm, I guess so. My friends are still surprised that I don't have a max manifest. And I have no interest to grind for it...

You could just cloak->sticky grenade->Cryo blast instead since grenades don't break cloak. With travel time you should be able to land the cryo blast before detonation. But if you have no issues without fitness that is a much easier combination.

Surely you can get the damage bonus if you simply go Cloak -> CB -> Sticky -> Claymoar? There's 2.5 seconds for that.
