In the end, if he/she's a bastard, he could still conquer Denerim with army at his/her back
Unlikely, but possible.
Might makes right!

I'd be really surprised if the OGB wasn't a mage. (Kind of pointless to be the reincarnation of the old god if you can't do supernatural old god stuff, right? Right.) Mages can't inherit titles of nobility in Ferelden, as far as I know. Someone get the commissioner to turn on the Gaider signal. His city needs him to clarify inheritance rules.
Tell that to my mage who is the Arl of Amaranthine and a teryn of Gwaren.
Sorry I misread.
I thought this was another thread about visible long hair.
In that case it would have been the 'hair apparent'.
On with the thread...
Kind of off-topic, but I think Flemeth is another OGB, done with the ritual to save a Warden in the past in the same way. After all, she turns into a dragon, and she says something about her mother telling her to seek revenge. I think she wants revenge on the ancient magisters for creating the darkspawn and corrupting her kind.

whatever Bioware has in store for the OGB (if anything) the son of whoever he is, certainly wont be the Ferelden Throne

He*
OGB is always a he.
the ogb is obviously going to have magical powers mages cant be kings/queens.
Alistair was never legitimized...
Alistair legitimized himself when a crown was placed on his head. He was placed on a throne by the victors in a civil war. Might made right.
OGB could theoretically go the same route and seize a throne by force, but in order to do that he is going to need a fair amount of chaos similar to the Fereldan Civil War and enough support among the nobility to field an army that could back his claim. Getting that support would be a fairly tall order, especially considering he'd be the lowborn bastard of an apostate Chasind swamp witch.
I never thought about that..it would be delightly ironic that someone with the soul of urthemiel end as a ruler of ferelden.
