Okay I know some may kill me for saying this but, oh well.
Anywho, if I can developer feedback that would be much appreciated, I want to know if ME2 uses each finishing save as an import reference or each character.
The reason I ask is because on ME1 I am currently playing my main character. And I wish to make another playthrough but this playthrough will be Renegade rather than Paragon. So when I complete the Renegade playthrough will that wipe over that character, I know each time you complete the game it makes a seperate save, but if it is imported via character not save then this will wipe my paragon guy.
Hope that made sence, it was hard to explain. haha XD

No. After each playthrough ME1 makes a save that can be used for the new game plus mode.
That same save can also be imported in ME2.

No, I think I understand what you're asking. Let me know if this doesn't answer your question.
Each end-game save (including for new game plus) will display separately, yeah. So let's say you have a Paragon Shep, level 53 as of your first playthrough. Then you use that character for new game plus, take the Renegade path, and reach level 60. In the ME2 import screen you'll see:
Level 53 Shep
Level 60 Shep
So you'll be able to select your preferred character/set of choices.

Cheers I knew about the seperate save system in ME1. But I wasn't sure if ME2 just looks for different characters rather than different saves. Awesome that means I should see:
Level 60 Shep (Paragon)
Level 60 Shep (Renegade)
But without the morals brackets, added to show what I meant. XD

Yeah exactly - from the couple screens we've seen, it'll display basic background info (Spacer/War Hero/etc in addition to level) right in the main save import screen. If you need more info, though, you can select a specific save and then look at the key choices you made (Virmire and so on). So yeah, no need to worry about overwriting through new game plus - that won't interfere.
Good luck wrapping up the playthrough - I need to get another run or two in myself.
