Cole isn't a child - he isn't even human. Many do not want to romance him, and some strongly oppose the idea. That is totally fine! Please go to the other Cole thread if that is how you feel! :D

 

But there are some fans out there who would like to geek out over the idea of romancing Cole. 

 

The truth: Cole will not be romanceable in DAI. 

 

The point of this thread? This is a place for those fans who would like to romance him and geek out about it anyway!  :wub:

 

Everyone: Please remember to use the ignore feature rather than feed the trolls. Let's keep this thread open for Cole romantics! 

 

What I love about Cole: 

 

In Asunder, his character is very much an observer. Beyond that, he yearns to learn more about himself as he grows throughout the text. In DAI, Cole now understands that he's an entity that seeks to relieve others of pain and suffering - to lend his aid, not for reward, but to have contributed to something beyond himself. 

 

The combination of Cole's selflessness, deadliness, and otherworldliness is intriguing. He wouldn't be a stereotypical romance. The love interest that could grow between Cole and the PC would likely be provoked by something more profound than a random flirt option. Cole likely wouldn't "get" flirting, but he would definitely adhere to stronger sentiments of affection that can still lead to romance.

I kind of wanted to romance him because he looked pretty good in the Last Supper shot and him following Rhys around was so sad and cute, I just wanted to give him a hug and help him find out who/what he is.

But then I got to the end of DA: Asunder and learned what he truly was... A demon/spirit... and maybe dead? And then I saw his freaky yellow eyes in the picture above. And... well... Sorry Cole.

I'm all for Cole romance, if people can support 4 foot Dwarves getting ploughed by 8 foot Iron Bull, I'm holding out hope for Cole.

 

Plus we already romanced Justice, and a Desire Demon why not Cole.  Why not Cole?

Technically Cole isn't possessing anyone, he just chose to take the form of a sickly 'dead' looking kid with god awful hair.

His body isn't a corpse. He made his form look like Cole. Human Cole's body was cremated.

More than likely because David Gaider, you know the lead write for Dragon Age and author of DA: Asunder, where Cole made his debut, said Cole is BASICALLY a CHILD and has the mentality of one.

I'm really putting my foot down on this. The devs have stated that Cole is not emotionally mature enough for a romantic relationship. That should be the end of the discussion.

I can see the appeal. Prior to DG remarks about Cole's mentality he struck me as very reminiscent of Merrill.  You are correct he is NOT a child, he seemed to me to be innocent and naive and deadly when provoked just like Merrill from DA2. To turn it around and say its messed up to want to romance him when he really comes off like Merrill strikes me as being a bit gender biased. But I am also open to the fact that I interpreted him wrong hence why I am rereading Asunder right now. That being said he is so damn ugly it would be like romancing a walker and it would definitely take a Garrus style romance for me personally to get past that.  I do however want to hug him. and feed him cookies and read him bedtime stories and teach him about all that is good in the world that he has missed out on spending a decade in a dark tower all alone and lonely.  My inner mommy is practically bursting at the seams.

Just because someone might have the mentality of a child doesn't make them a child.  Cole isn't a child he's a spirit, likely older than all the other companions combined.

 

Calling an Iron Bull romance bestiality is more correct than calling a Cole romance Pedophilia.

I can't wait to play too. He seems like a badass in a giant hat. haha - I dig his look. 

 

And he doesn't look like a kid - he looks like a grown man! And in Asunder he didn't strike me as childlike whatsoever.
