I forget that the Paladin can block with his shield. So am I suppose to shield myself or hit things with it?
Avoided Paladin forever. How do you set him up for best enjoyment?

You're supposed to protect your teammates that are doing devices. It's foolproof, trust me

Never realised there was such a hate on for snap freeze. I guess I always liked it since I always wanted to be Iceman from X-Men and had way too much fun playing around with super coolants.
I have used to shield to protect team mates during the activate/deactivate challenges. Some days I am on with the Paladin and some dats I play my worst games with him.
Snap freeze will override primers, when I play biotics I especially am not pleased when I see a bunch of snap freeze. Usually why I just switch to what the majority of the over randoms are using(biotic or tech) or use a weapon based class.
My only true hate for snap freeze is how loud it is.

Lol, why would I bother defending my teammate when I can help him disable the device too?
Exactly . Even better when you have 4 players disabling a device .
Sure ..it draws a bit of aggro but its the team bonding that is so important here.....

I just pugged with him I was the only one with a mic on and kept B slapping Phantoms with my fire shield yelling 'MAKE ME A SANDWICH B---H!' Instantly got 3 friend invites from the pug after...haha

Well, if one of us goes down the others can continue hacking it to prevent a reset. That's called "teamwork." I will now kick anyone who disagrees with such a thing. ![]()

Snap cheese can't detonate
Snap Freeze can detonate.
The Combo detonations are hardly useful since the explosion happens around you. You have to be in a crowded area and near enemies for them to actually be affected by the detonation. I believe this applies to Paladin's Snap Cheese too, 'cause detonations happen on him too just like the AIU.
Only when Snap Freeze is the detonator, most noticeable with fire explosions, but it doesn't matter when playing melee.
Also IIRC Energy Drain can only detonate Snap Freeze on shielded enemies.

I use the classical melee fire shield no passive paladin. He struggled to kill anything yesterday on geth rio (not even 25 melee kill), so i am pretty pissed at him !

I use a no passives build, fitness specced for flame shield. Most mooks can be taken down with ED followed by a head shot. Use snap freeze for crown control and try to string together combos against bosses. Primes and atlases are easiest as you can alternate tech bursts and fire explosions from a safe distance.
For melee I will normally follow up with incinerate for the quick FE. On host, this will track rag dolled enemies nicely, although it can be a little less predictable on host.
I think others have already mentioned the snap freeze combo bug.

Melee Paladin is more entertaining than effective. If you want to kill geth then just SF and ED everything.

Screw effective and spec out of ED - bash all the things and cause reliable explosions!

He could be very effective on tight map and in less rusty or better hands
.
There, i had a bit of fun but not too much, even adre module III was n fast enough to close on living geth, Chealec melee krosol and Aedolon executioner were too fast
. The last guy must have wondered what was happening ![]()

That game was pretty dodgy; 2 of us using melee kits ... I swear I only saw about 2 things to kill on the first wave as, by the time I'd got there, Aedolon had already exterminated everything with overload/Executioner on the TSent ![]()
As for the OP ... short answer, Paladin + Talon *(Power Amp + Melee Stunner) + Full Melee (I quite like the Cryo shield for some reason although it's probably worse) and Adrenaline Mod. Run, shoot, punch shield bash ... hmmm it occurs to me that I actually play him pretty similarly to the Krentinel!
As an aside, dropping the shield can save you from Banshee Warp and Praetorian lazors ... which is nice.
*a Paladin with a Talon rather than a Talon with a Paladin ....

K, off to try megabeast's suggestion first thing this morning.
And I'm going to use some words to explain why he's quite smart when it comes to this game, like I always see; ie. why waste Armour ammo that works well with all kits when you can use Drill ammo to the same affect with cryo debuff against armour + extra penetration for double hits and thicker cover thanks to geth scanner. And even before I seen him mention that he didn't like using ammo combo's on self detonating kits due to 6x6 combos = more profit, it was actually something I pieced together myself. So when I seen him approve, I was quite happy to know I was on the right track. Plus with word like "if it's still alive" in his Paladin description, how can he be wrong?
It's not what I like, it's what you like.
Was also waiting to see if that no passives build would ever come up? Thanks for giving me something else to try, Venom.
So the shield only hits twice on host? This for light or heavy melee?
@bondiboy; Cryo Shield is bugged? How so? For good or bad? And would still like to try a Cry Shield Build without a doubt. But seeing what most prefer is good to know.
@LaughingBanana; You're the first I think to say only 4 points in snap cheese?
@Zig; so you saying a no passives build like Venom too. OK.
@Pint; I slapped a melee stunner & heavy onto my Talon for my first Paladin run yesterday like your build suggests, and I was wondering if this was the best option? Or replace one of them with a power magnifier instead? ... And Snap Freeze is in no way near as loud & annoying as a bugged flamer sound where it sound like you're always doing it no matter how far flamer kit is. I can stand bugged flamers sounds if they don't go to spam happy... but if pugs got no manifest and really need the that cheese so bad, I'll try to tuff out that one match.
@Ribbit; yeah, I never knew there was such hate for snap cheese either until BSN new forum format. But it wasn't the reason I avoided the Paladin kit.
@boogieman; Got to try 'em all. And to troll you of course.
... Who knows? Maybe next time I'll ask how to do flamer right? Though this one will be all for you.
... Hmm, why should you be so special? I'll troll all BSNers instead.
(Least for one wave max, to you know, to say "Hello!") ... And now that maxed manifest, will be slowly making the switch to Platinum. So some cheese to help out at first while I adjust to Platinum, would be nice so that it's not too hard. Like a challenge, but that means not too hard or easy. There's a nice zone I look for in between the two. ... Also lots of Strength Enhancers.

Spec fire shield and full melee on him. Skip passives you'll be too busy detonating combos or beating stuff to death to worry about your weapon most of the time anyways and passives aren't effecting the combo detonations which are where most of his damage is coming from.
He can chain together beautiful explosions so don't be a one trick pony and just spam snap freeze even though you will generally top board just doing that. Virtually unkillable versus the geth if played right.

Sprint, forward roll, fire shield bash to get a mook airborne, quick Incinerate for a mid-air fire explosion kill.
Video posted back here.
WRT mook selection, husks are easiest. They're nice and light and you can get some good air with those puppies.
Good luck!
