So I was thinking about this today. If Bioware would give us the option to play as a Silent Sister it would be perfect for me. I love Dwarves and HATE the voiced protagonist. So with a Silent Sister I get to play my Dwarf and there is a built in excuse to use a Silent protagonist. Make it happen Bioware!
let us be Silent Sisters!

You can mute your TV
Seriously though how would you communicate? No one would follow a mute

Play Dragon Age Origins.
Or, well, mute your PC and pretend your character is doing sign language.

I'm not going to say no to an extra option. It will be very hard to pull off though OP. Best to keep your expectations about the devs implementing this feature in future games realistic.

BioWare has yet to allow us to mute the PC without muting the other characters.Play Dragon Age Origins.

Personally, I'd like to mute the PC and turn off the subtitles. If I could still hear the NPCs then the game would play almost like DAO.

It amazes me that people took this so seriously. I was mostly joking with this suggestion. While yes I would LOVE for them to implement it I don't expect that it ever would be.
Didn't you know we don't tolerate joking here, serah? ![]()

Hey...
I don't like this idea (partly because I think someone cutting out his tongue is crazy to put it mildly (completely bonkers, three fries short of a happy meal etc. is more like it))
I would love the mute protag back, too but I would not want to go down this route to get it (I don't play crazy characters...)

You realize they don't talk at all right? Not sure what good a leader who gestures and points would do

Bioware could just give a silent option. TellTale games have done this without really radically altering their cinematics - often the NPC just keeps talking as if you haven't said anything.

But the silent option is still, in most cases, a response in and of itself, especially when NPCs ask you a question. For instance, when Beast asks Bigby about Beauty in TWAU, he interprets your silence as hostility.

Interesting idea however with all the effort of VA's in the game and the magnitude and complexity that will likely be involved with running the inquisition I don't see it happening.

I don't get the fascination with a silent protagonist. I mean, Its not like having the silent protagonist allows you to write your own lines. Bioware still wrote all the pc lines in origins. And now there's customization for the pc's voice. So its not like anyone will be stuck with a voice they hate(like I was with male hawke), unless I suppose they hate both. In which case... tough ****? The only actual problem I see is not actually with the voice but the dialogue wheel/paraphrasing and all that.

Love the idea, OP - but I doubt it would ever happen.
Bioware has chosen to make their games very cinematic, which means you will be watching and listening to the PC as much as actually playing the character. It does tend to put a damper on that initial golden playthrough, when all of the content is fresh and new, at least for me. Since I never know what the character will say or do, I find I have to attempt a few plays to figure out who the character is before I can attempt to really role-play them.
