Hi lads.

I think the title summarize it. Has anyone tried or accomplished porting models from Mount & Blade Warband into Neverwinter Nights?

There is an AMAZING set of armors inspired by Game of Thrones that I would love to convert into robes but no idea if is possible.

This is the mod by the way:

http://www.moddb.com...ges/kings-guard

and

http://www.moddb.com...rmor-2#imagebox

Those two mods contains a big set of armors that could be used as robes for my project but don't really know if is possible.

Thanks!

It's possible, BUT, it'll take a good bit of work.  I downloaded that package, and got one of the armor .obj files out of it, and imported it into 3dsmax... right off the bat you'll need to scale the model, and then you'll have to do whatever tweaks are necessary to make it function as a robe... that's well out of my skill level though.  I couldn't get the texture to load in either, so you may have to reskin it as well.  The one model I tested out (one of the westeros heavy knight armors) was also rather high-poly.... Not sure what the limits are for how many polys a robe can have before breaking or just casing laggy graphics.  The armor clocked in at over 2k polys, compared to a similar shaped robe out of projectq which weighed in at a little over 500 polys....

I'm sure other's here more savvy with robes could point you on how to fix up the model though to work as a robe once you get it importd into your modelling program.  Not sure if gmax can import .obj files, but if need be you could ask for someone to convert them for you.

Gmax can import obj files with no problem. 2k isn't bad for a placeable but no idea how much lag it would cause on a character/npc model. Decimate on Blender may help with the polycount.

Thank you for your reply.

I was able to load the model in GMax exporting it to the autocad format but my NWMax plugin seems to be broken because I cannot export a .mdl even if is a .mdl directly imported from NWN without any changes, I cannot export it again. Don't know i this is due to be running W8 but anyways my skills aren't as good for now.

Anyways I think most of the models could be simplified, but I'm not an expert on this field.

P.S. how can I import .obj with GMax? although I'll try to reinstall it as I can't export .mdls yet.

Is the green NW icon in your system tray when gMax and NWMax are running?

If not, that would be the reason you cannot export.  Not sure what version of NWMax you are using, but you could try looking in the gmax/scripts/nwmax directory for a file called nwmax.exe.  Clicking on that should start snoop, the background program required to export from gmax.  After starting snoop you should then see the NW icon in your system tray.

If you do see the icon in your system tray and it is green, then you have another issue and may need to re-install gmax and/or the NWMax scripts.

Good thing is that most of the models could be used with just slight changes or even just texture changes.

I'm starting to consider to pay something for this as I wouldn't be able to do it, I really would love to use them!

Hi lads.

I managed to import a helmet and added it to NWN:

Ok, is pretty lame, but it something. Don't know yet how to work with textures in gmax but I could learn.

My question now is, is there any good tutorial to create robes? because I can import them into Gmax but would like to be able to create it as a robe and don't know how.

Thanks!

I haven't gone in depth on them yet, but maybe the Crusader Kings 2, Stronghold series, the last of the HoMM or Settlers series, Drakensang, Sacred 2, Torchlight 2 or Spellforce 2 series. Everquest or some of the other online games that work with 3DripperDX. Lots to look at and at least checkout. DAoC that I'm working with has a lot but I haven't gone into armor yet.

There's plenty. Skyrim is top choice, then there's NWN2, age of dragons, the witcher, Gothic 3, All of those have plenty of original AND custom content to choose from.

I just saw http://neverwinterva...ll-metal-packet

But have no idea how to start with it. Would love to port to NWN1 just the full armor: http://neverwinterva...4115fullres.jpg

Does Nwmax for gmax allow you to import .mdb from NWN2 ? might anyone help me porting this? Thanks!

I'm not sure but you might have to go the multistep route - You can import the mdb to Blender, which can export to OBJ or other formats that I know NWMax/GMax can support, and then import that into NWMax

Others may know of a shorter, better way, but that should work if nothing else does

There is a plugin that allows you to import .mdb models directly to 3DS. One might also exist for GMax.
