Yes, the hair looks very bad. It really clashes with the overall improved textures. I have lost most hope for decent-looking hair for my character and longer hair options.

If the only complaint about a game, is that people have funny looking hair, then you should keep that complaint to yourself

It's a valid complaint just as any.

I hope companion hairstyles will be unique to themselve and won't be seen on npcs or the inquisitor.

...I must have no eye for this sort of thing, because I honestly don't see a problem with the hair.

I see no problem with the hair at all. In fact, I think it looks great. As for the style that's part of their characterization.

I don't really mind the hair, its always been one of the weaker points in the DA/ME games... I just started playing DA2 an hour ago again, and the character creation... Yikes, those hairstyles look SO solid, not like hair at all. At least they're not directly importing DAO hair into Inquisition xD

But as I said, I don't really mind it. Cole's hair doesn't even look bad to me, not sure why some people are saying that. I only hope that they manage to give long hair to SOME non-combat NPCs like Empress Celene. I saw some terrible concept art of her wearing a rather simple dress, with a simple mask, and short boy hair. It looked... awful. Like, I really hated it. And I usually love all things DA.

If they can do it for Lady of the Forest, then they can do it for the Empress though... I hope.

Lmao, it's weird because I think his hair looks OK here but not so much here.

My goodness, Cole's hair does look pretty atrocious in the desert shot. On the other hand, he looks unhealthy and a bit corpse-like. Maybe bad hair is one of the side-effects of possession by a Fade spirit.

There are a LOT of problems with the character designs, hair being just one standout. Just look at Sera's breasts being attached to the bottom of her ribcage, or Morrigan's new 'hit with a brick' face.

BioWare's always had trouble with blonde hair in their games, it just doesn't show as well in their artstyle. Maybe I'm talking out of my ass, but the original concept art of Miranda from Mass Effect 3 had her blonde like her actress, Yvonne Strahovski, but I imagine the dark hair just looked better. Whenever I'd make a femshep, I noticed with the blonde it just doesn't look as well put-together as, say, the auburn hair. Didn't stop me from rocking a blonde ponytail though!

I'm assuming most of the outrage is due to Cole's hair. I mean, he's living in a deteriorating body...come on now. For those of you who think his hair looks like a burlap sack, of course it does! It's rotting! If he had clean/nice looking hair, THAT would be odd.

Sera's hair looks fine imo. Pretty unique actually. Definitely not terrible like some people are saying.

I remember when people were going off about Solas not even having hair lol...it's hilarious. No hair? BSN riots. Hair that we're not in control of? BSN riots. There's no pleasing the masses.

I don't see anyone complaining about Blackwall's, Cassandra's, Varric's,  or Dorian's (not his 'stache) hair...so don't assume ALL the hair models in the game look bad just because a few like Cole and Sera's don't appeal to you.

I don't mind really. It still looks much better than DA:O and DA2.

This is probably the first time Frostbite has been used in a non-military (where everyone's head is either covered or shaved) or non-racing (where all the detail goes into the cars and tracks, not the drivers, who are usually wearing full helmets anyway) game.

Dorian? You mean that guy that tags along behind that glorious mustache? Never really noticed him before.

Hair is already dead.  It doesn't rot, even when you die.

"Hair is a very durable series of protein chains. It may fall out of the cadaver as the living hair follicles die and decay, but the hair itself will be fully intact long after all of the flesh and organs are dissolved."

It is not about appeal of the hair styles, at least not for me. In my view a part of Cole's hair textures seem off. And no, his "deteriorating body" doesn't explain why the part of the hair in front of his eyes look "okay" but the same exact hair looks off the further up.

And even if the hair looks "better" than it did in DAO and DA2 it, in my opinion, seems to lack behind the progression made to everything else in the game. Maybe a part of the "ugliness" as another forum member alluded to has to do with blonde hair specifically. Other colors look off too but it is less jarring.

I'm sure he doesn't really take care of it, nor is he aware of hygiene norms. If hair honestly bothers the fanbase this much, it's pretty sad.

It's not worse than fingers from DA:2...

That's a better reason, saying it's because his hair is "rotting" doesn't seem right.

Whatever man. Hair is way more preserved than other body matters when a corpse starts to decompose, but it surely doesn't remain as it was. The decomposition is slower, but not eliminated.

I'm not happy with Cole's hair either, and no it's not because it's blonde. Though it doesn't look aesthetically pleasing to me, it looks appropriate, therefore I'm okay with it.

I think they're still working on it.  Sera's hair is different, and better, than it was in its original reveal pic.

The hairstyles I've seen on the characters look fine for me.

I'm wondering if femquis will be able to have longer hairstyles than what we had in the previous 2 games

Hair in game usually look super awfully bad. So I always end up making a bald guy. Also the most unattractive I can. Because it just make it more funny when all the gorgeous compannion tell me how beautiful I am. They,re under my spell. What can I say.

The only nitpick I have regarding hair is that I preferred Sera and Solas hairstyles in their concept art. Then they both lost a chuck of it it come their final designs (with Solas losing what little he had), still not quite used to them yet.

Wow. I clicked that picture of Cole fully expecting people to be exaggerating. I even went to check it on my computer since the phone screen is so small. That looks...

While it's not a game breaker for me(and I doubt it is for anyone at all), it does seem... out of place? Sera's hair looks like it's from DA 2 while Cole's looks like he glued a buffalo's hair to his head. Still, I think the problem is how the hair drastically changes from one to the other. Like, if you had both of them walk next to you. I could imagine people being distracted by the disparity.

Cole's hair looks rather plastered to his head, to the point where his bangs follow the contour of his rather prominent brow ridges. He has a bad case of hat head, but that makes sense considering the enormous hat he wears in what may turn out to be his default look.

Blonde hair in general is more challenging because the individual pieces stand out, making any flaws rather glaring, where black hair hides the strands and the overall shape is what stands out.
