Valiant Hearts was just released. What do you think? Would you play it? Does it look beautiful or crappy?

This reviewer said that Valiant Hearts leans into the relatively modern concept of "animation for adults." I think if an animated war movie was made it would look like Valiant Hearts.

This reviewer said "What is truly shocking about this game, however, is that it manages to do with its cartoon visuals and cute gibberish voices what a decade of dark, gritty combat games have failed to do - make war horrific, frightening, sad, and even a little inspiring."

Do you think this game contributes to the advancement of the video game medium?

I hadn't realized this was coming out already (somehow I'd expected it in the fall).  I've been looking forward to it though since there are too few games set during WWI, and I'd buy it for that reason alone.

I do like the look of it though - the style reminds me of Jacques Tardi's war comics, so I like the look of it.

From what I've seen and heard of the game it's largely what I had expected: Solid story on a topic not that well covered by video games but with meh gameplay.

While it's nice to see this kind of story in a game, the kind of advancement I would like to see isn't one that sacrifices gameplay.
