I had no idea where to ask this. But I hope the feedback and suggestions forum is okay to ask.

Since DA:I is a cross-gen game, does that mean that the ps3 and xbox 360 versions are going to be lacking when it comes to the graphics?

I'd love to buy it for the new-gen consoles but sadly I'm broke and won't be able to afford one anytime soon.So I'm hoping the graphics difference won't be too bad.

If anyone can help me with this question I would really appreciate it ^_^

Depends on what you call lacking?

Will the 360 and PS3 be as good as the XB1 and PS4? No. Will either if them be as good as a high end PC a ranked up to max settings? No.

But it will probably look significantly better than DA2 did on the 360 or PS3.

I have the hope that next gen consoles and PCs don't get their graphics downgraded so the the graphical gap between this and last gen won't look too big. I understand it can sting if you can't afford a new console or PC but I also don't want game developers to just make their games to look worse than they should be. The last gen consoles have been around for many years and it has somewhat held back PC graphics as well and now with the new consoles PC gamers are once again given less impressive looking games because, at least, a developer like Ubisoft feels the gap between consoles and PC shouldn't be too big. I feel this is just a way to make PC gamers switch to consoles instead because what is the point in getting better hardware if it is not fully utilized?

All this said, I am not against the game looking good on last gen consoles but there is only so much developers can do with "outdated" tech and I just don't want it to hold everything else back. And this is coming from someone who isn't swimming in money either.

The game will look better than DA2 regardless of platform, but expect a fairly big difference between current gen and last gen. The last gen consoles run on hardware that's around a decade old, the games on which are only ever going to look so good. I fully expect the last gen versions to sport lower resolution textures with no tessellation or displacement mapping, no anti-aliasing, less visually spectacular lighting effects and a lower resolution picture. I also anticipate lengthier loading times and a lower average framerate. But all of this will still produce visuals greater then those of the previous games. I'm sure BioWare will do their best but there's only so much you can do with the hardware. Just don't expect the game to look or run anywhere near as good as what we've been seeing from videos and screenshots, which are all taken from a PC.

All you should look for is the game running on last gen systems properly while looking decent, not how lacking it will be compared to PC. Whether they will look close to what's on current gen and PC depends on how Bioware handled it.

Hopefully it looks good on last gen, without effects and other stuff being cut from PC version because the developers wanted "console parity"( ..l., you ubisoft).

In my opinion there is a chance it would look better, This version is using Frostbite 3, which is a better well proven engine, I'm not sayign the old Dragon age 2 engine (Lycium) is bad, it's just outdated. So it would deffinately look better this time on all gens.

However there is always a gen tradeoff, because the scale of this game is the biggest (apprently 3 - 5 discs), I think stuff will have be nerfed so that the gameplay expirience would not be impacted too much. Stuff like field of view, textures, number of moving objects on the screen (like other NPCs) would be reduced.

Check this comparision ouf to watch dogs, different game engines though but shows the diff between current gen and last gen, the diff is not that much though: https://www.youtube....etailpage#t=224
