Went to redownload some bmu files off the old vault... seems that the old vault has officially been wiped. Damn....
By chance, does anyone have any of the music files uploaded to the old vault by a user named "edgen" (or something like that). There were a few of his music files not included in the CMP which I wanted to use for my module.
The old vault seems to have officially died....

I think that Rolo the Backup Wizard has a backup of old vault somewhere.
its sad news however, now so many content is unavailable...

indeed, the new vault is still poorly organized, the tags are nice as an extra sort feature but cant substitute categories really
but we can always improve new vault and make it bettter organized!

I'm just glad they gave us some warning, you know? What happened to "the old vault will still exist as an archive"?
I love business mentality.

Customers seem to be the least of a business' concern. But at least we did get some warning - more than we got when a certain set of forums were taken offline in response to a supposed "outside attack."

I just went to old vault, went to one of my entries and changed the description and the change was reflected in the page.
But it's basically dead http://neverwinterva.../jun/thats-wrap

ok...
thats somewhat a strange event. Well, i dont remember my first appearance on the vault but it must be around late 2005 so it´s realy a much deeper thing then just some site that goes off. I knew it would happen but that there is now a "Wiki" page is sad. Good for me that i went there lately and downloaded lots of different things i thought you better have now just in case...
ah ya. Wow an era ends with lots of memories now only left. He, the vault was the greatest site for me for years so thanks again to all the people who shared their content whatever it was because that massive stuff you could wander trough what made it so cool. Always checking in for the latest stuff people had developed.
Yup, we made the vault alive and kicking and thank you Rolo and the other magicians who backed up most if not everything for this sh*tty day.

Put yourself into your creativity and don't concern yourself with the bean counters, BabaYaga. They are nothing.

We were never the customers. The customers are the paying advertisers... If you're not paying for it, you are not the customer.

I just signed up for the new IGN site, and got a cheerfully cute confirmation email entitled:
"THANKS. But. Not. Quite. Done. Yet. Open for Info..."

WOO-HOO, YAY, IM WINNING!!!

FunkySwerve should have it.
Since he's still active, I don't want to upload it to the new Vault and become the author of the content, as he's the author of the entry on the old Vault.

Rolo told me it was okay to do that; he would switch the authors over if the original author showed up wanting to take control. Just list the original author in the appropriate field.

Well, it's not shut down, the DNS has been changed. You can still get to it by modifying your hostsfile and accessing the site directly via their server IP.

And snag what's really important to you before it's gone for good.

Apparently It's not dead, its just been hidden for now...

Web Archive guys. Search doesn't work--nor anything requiring server side processing--but it looks like the files are there and downloadable. It does require some paging though. Be warned, it's slow to load.

Edit: Not all files are available. It's hit and miss I'm afraid. 3 of 5 that I tried at random were available.

I added the DNS to my hosts file and seem to have the same level of access I had before this latest "shutdown."

<running around...>
I do have a full back up of files current to *last July*.
In fact I have three copies on three different hard drives (miniVault (official), roloVault (my personal copy) and vixenVault (my primary backup)), just in case (Thanks to the generous people who've donated toward the neverwintervault.org.).
In addition Henesua hosts Repository Zero which will eventually be the archive repository of the still wip vault storage system. RepoZ also has a complete backup as of last July.
What that means for now, is if you need something that hasn't been migrated to the new Vault yet, put in a request on one of the two new forums:
http://neverwinterva...n1-files-wanted
http://neverwinterva...n2-files-wanted
I'll use the requests on those forums to dig through the archives and prioritize the migration on my end.
Re uploading someone else's project... Please! We can always adjust things if there's an error, but many hands make a huge task much less daunting.
At the same time, be aware that if the author has publically (or even privately, so long as the admin at the Vault is aware of it) removed or restricted access to his content, his IP, then the Vault *will* honor those wishes.
As KC would say "Here's a towel, don't panic :-)"
