This worked... for now. Thanks.I don't know if this'll solve it, but you might try clearing your browser cache.

Putting the IP address in the hosts file fixed the issue the day before yesterday, but then yesterday I couldn't access the old vault, and this morning it worked again (I don't remember having manually cleared the cache, but I may have set it up to run automatically).

After updating the hosts file on my Windows box, I have been able to directly access the download pages. I've been using that to migrate some of the HoF content to the new Vault, but there's a lot more work to be done.

If you're transfering stuff, make sure to get post July 2013, that's when IGN blocked our spidering of the content..

Just tried downloading a few different things in different categories and all the file links now seem to be dead also most of the pictures are no longer showing up
if it isn't fixed I hope everyone has gotten what they need and helps get what they have to the new vault. I know as soon as I find all the files I backed up off the Vault I will transfer the ones that aren't already there to the new vault. ![]()

Actually, none of the modules were lost. Downloading all of the NWN2 modules was a straightforward task, and many of them were already available on the Nexus and new Vault. In fact, people said that all of the content was in fact saved up to last year, and just hasn't yet been made fully available elsewhere, but the new Vault has a place for people to request specific items to be given priority.
There were numerous categories other than modules which I was unable to personally finish copying, though I hope to see them re-emerge elsewhere. "NWN2 original hakpaks", for instance, as well as the Scripts section and the Area Prefabs section.

I have most of every category saved just have to find where I put it again
once I do I will start posting it on the new Vault (making sure it isn't there already of course) there was a few that the links were dead that I couldn't get so hopefully someone else has gotten those and posts them.

So all the modules, or most of them, are lost? That is basically the end of NWN 2
Its only the end of NWN2 when the last person quits. Our PW was struggling for players, often having zero until we put extra effort in to advertise, attract, and retain players. There are alternate locations for storing mods (nexus, the new vault) and as long as people are interested the game will survive.
I envy the BG PW because they regularly get over 50 players. For me that is only a dream, but ill keep on fighting to get that.
At the end of the day, there is no better engine out there (terrible as it is, or perhaps i should say "they", NWN1 is still popular, perhaps more popular than NWN2!) for a true moddable CRPG.
If one day the big companies realize there is a market out there for roleplayers rather than MMORPG, OMG, look at the size of my thews! type players, then we may get a new game that is highly moddable, free to play without play-to-win, possiblity to self-host, no chance of game ending because corporate asshats decide its no loner profitable to maintain servers (gamespy asswits), then until that time i'm going to stick with the NWN2 engine.
Give me the possibility to self-host and completely mod a modern game engine based on a good RP system (hells, not 4Ed!! or anything biased towards the MMORPG crowd) and ill be there like a shot.

Heh, yeah, i suppose you could recreate the whole D&D ruleset with Unity... and several years of work.
Maybe one day when finally the last people stop playing NWN2 and i'm retired, befuddled, and bored, i might be tempted to give it a go. ![]()

I've got trouble patching the game, let alone getting onto a server. Not sure how to use those rtp files....

The gog version come with all expansions and patched. It's a pain to have to buy again but it might be easier than manually applying patches ![]()

I have found all the files I had downloaded and saved so If you have any files in particular you are looking for post them in the files wanted on the new vaults forum or let me know here if I have them I'll try and get them up on the new vault asap (I unfortunately didn't save any of the pics from anything I had saved so I have no screen shots to post of them
)

Green_hilltop on the GOG forums pointed me to the above site.
You can look at historical saves for any page you need on the vault. You can navigate around at the time of the save and look at files and images. I have not been able to download any content though.

Unfortunately the Wayback Machine doesn't seem to save the download files. Those will have to come from a backup, unless somebody makes them available via an anonymous ftp.

<handing someone else...>
We're actually working on that (the public ftp backup), on two fronts.
Elven is going to set up the ftp folder by Tuesday night (he's busy - shocker, I know ;-).
Meanwhile, I, on my skinny *$ wireless am uploading roloVault one category at a time. nwn2modulesinternational is done. about 60% of nwn2modulesenglish. I can do about 8gb a day (out of 440gb), depending on how busy *$ is.
On the third front, TAD is getting (by mail, so it'll be a bit) an external with another copy, which he will also start uploading. So, maybe two weeks to have all the scraped backup available publicly.
