Maybe one of the old mages that stepped into the black city? They would certainly be 'elder'.

Dont think it has anything to do with the elven gods or the maker, DG already said they wont bring out the maker, so why would they bring out other gods?  Nope, my guess is a demon of some sort, i dont believe its an elf, cause the tevinters would never follow no matter how powerful.  Its not flemeth or morrigan, they like to play in their sandbox that is thedas.  Corypheus is plausible, but for a being that was introduced in a dlc, i dont think hes going to be the main villain.  my guess is a demon or someone a human we havent met yet... probably tied into tevinter

What if it's one of the remaining old gods they are talking about?

According to the comics there is a (growing?) faction of magisters that worship the old gods and are trying to restore Tevinter pride.

I feel like finding an old god before the massive amount of darkspawn that constantly look for them does would be difficult.

I like that idea.

I just hope that the "Big Bad" in Inquisition is a bit more complex than previous antagonists. Also, why not give us the option of taking their side? In KOTOR (spoilers) you were allowed to go full Sith and really embrace the dark side.

In the Dragon Age universe, role playing a "bad guy" usually consists of being a smart ass and selecting all of the rude dialogue options.

I have a feeling the big bad won't be that complex at all. Hopefully s/he wont be mind controlled ala ME1 Saren

Still, with dragons on the loose once again I can see some Tevinter magisters (they all seem to want to restore Tevinter honor) re worship the old gods.

One Magister was powerful enough to make a small city within the fade using dragon blood. A girl was able to mind control 3 or more high dragons by drinking drake blood (its in the movie)

With the breach, red lyrium and dragons more common I can see them trying to find an old god.

It'll make for a nice future game with an untainted old god free.

A strong indication that Corypheus is going to be in DA:I, maybe not as the primary villain, but certainly present, is that they included Hawke's "attempt to destroy him" in the timeline on the main page. It is the only DLC event that is mentioned on the timeline, not even Awakening events are mentioned there, so it is a good bet that it will play a notable role in the upcoming game.

It is worth mentioning that Larius/Janeka thanks Hawke at the end of Legacy for "restoring their old self", with the obvious implication that Corypheus has seized their body it would seem that he snapped out of his madness (to an extent at least, perhaps not completely) and became far more lucid than he was when you awoke him, meaning he might consider plots that are completely unrelated to the darkspawn.

Considering that DA2 was essentially little more than the prologue for DA:I, I think we can reliably assume that seeds planted in that game are going to come to fruition in DA:I.

Three events stand out to me from that, the already mentioned Corypheus situation being one, then in Act 1 when you "revive" Flemeth at Sundermount she mentions that you "smuggled her out", indicating that she was being watched in some way. This could indicate that she is trying to hide her involvement in upcoming events, or the instigator of said events considers her an obstacle that needs to be dealt with. Regardless of whether she is a friend or a foe, she is certainly an important piece on the board.

And at the end of Act 2 you encounter a detachment of Grey Wardens in Kirkwall mentioning something important that they can't talk about, this obviously hints at future events. Considering the source it is very likely that it has something to do with the darkspawn, and possibly one of the two remaining old gods. Maybe the Grey Wardens found one of them? What if they managed to wake it up without tainting it?

Considering all of the threads from previous games I peg the top three contenders for DA:I antagonist as Corypheus, Flemeth and an Old God. Regardless I consider it a near certainty that Corypheus will make an appearance.

If he's managed to possess more gray wardens that would be terrible.
