Those differences should be defined by the rules. Every party member should be subject to morale checks.

 

Which means that different characters can break at different levels depending on a based attribute or rule. Therefore individuals characters can still have different characteristics which matter. The only difference is that the gamer knows the rule on which it is based. If Bioware wants to write a character who is a coward that attribute could be willpower. Low willpower the character fails morale checks more often and runs from battle.

That would be fine.  I have no objection to that.

 

Especially if I had the option to change his attributes, despite the writing.

 

I'm trying to maximise my control over the disposition of the party.  I am indifferent to the writers' preferences regarding the characters and their personalities.
