I think I've restarted BG1 over 10-20 times now not sure why but seems I'm not sure which group I want to go with...

I was fancy the idea of MP full 6 custom members but it will be so unbalanced I gave up just imagine 6 toons with 18 on all their main stats.

Then I thought maybe I should try the canon thingy with minsc\dyn\imoen\jahira and khalid but it was pretty boring like group of hippies all hugs and such.

So I was thinking maybe go for (Playing GOG with BGT) Minsc\imoen\Jahira\Edwin\Viconia and make my CHARNAME a warrior of some sort maybe S&B as main tank.

Then take the whole team from BG1 to TOB using same toons all the way.

1. good idea?

2. I heard I can "kill" member of the pairs in order to get the other member to stay so I'll be able to have 1 member at a time. how exactly it works?

3. how exactly you deal with Edwin\minsc\Dyn? I should take both minsc and Edwin to release dyn then let the gnolls eat her and go recruit viconia at that point? :P

4. Go according to the areas I'm discovering or zerg to get all my team members first?

Thanks.

1.  Any idea that you like is good ...

2.  One way to separate pairs is to put one of them into a hopeless situation, e.g. attacking barehanded and unarmoured a group of enemies.  Once they are dead you can dismiss them from the party without protest from their companion.  If you want to be more merciful you can leave the one you want to get rid of in a house and remove them from the party.  If they can't get to you to protest then their pair won't be concerned.

3.  That will work as far as getting the party set up is concerned.  I'm not sure if it will stop Edwin and Minsc from coming to blows at some point though.

4.  Again, whatever you fancy ...

Ok decided to try full run of MP custom team and it's damn fun...

CHARNAME = Cavalier dual wielding flail and bastard sword (human)

Berserker = Dual wield long swords. (half orc)

Priest of Latahnder = Shield and hammer (human)

Conjurer = slingshot \ quarterstaff (half elf)

Bard = Archer \ pickpocket\ secondary caster \ lore|Identify (Half elf)

Swashbuckler = dualwield short swords | find traps \ open locks \ detect illusion (halfling)

So far got to high edge and it's very fun combo which works well.

A suggestion with regards to character creation. Only allow yourself to transfer a limited number of points at character creation, 4 or 6 for example. Then you won't have superheroes. I have just started a game with my characters emulating Xzar and Montaron. Neither of them has less than any of the stats of those characters. This meant that there were only three points to distribute and as a result, they are not uber powerful.

Another alternative is to install a mod such as the BG1 NPC project. This makes the banter between your own character and the NPCs far more interesting as per BG2.
