Surprise meatballs were already explained by David that it was a sort of inside joke among the writers. One of them (Ben?) brought meatballs to a potluck but placed the dish with the desserts. Thus every time someone ate one, expecting sweet and chocolate goodness, they got meatballs. This resulted into several funny faces and the poor bringer of the meatballs asking if they were really that bad!

 

I am looking forward to eventually learning more about our elf. While the rampant guessing and speculation, the knee-jerk reactions and compulsion to name is amusing, I will be happy when we have a blurb like Vivienne's to get a taste of his personality. (Personally, if -big if- Cole is in the game as a companion, I think he will be the deceptive wax fruit.)

I really like that we're taking about food, but I worry that we're maybe getting too off topic? Somebody should make a "Let's wildly speculate about companions based off a silly twitter conversation about food" thread.

I don't want all the characters to meet some "beauty standards", which don't even work for everyone. I want them to look as it fits their personality. I'm looking forward to finding out who he is. I'm not seeing the big deal about his appearance to be honest and I feel so sorry for any males reading this that do have lack of head hair for what ever reason. I want personality rich characters that make me want to know more about them, that make me want to take them through the game to see more of their development as it goes on.

And on a personal note I don't find him ugly or odd looking *shrugs* say if he was a LI, what I said above is what would make me want to develop that part of the game with that character, because I found them fascinating!

That was how I originally had it spelled but when I googled it to make sure I was right about the fur and the winter concept arts, Dragon Age wiki has it spelled Ferelden. Also, google search said "showing results for Ferelden" when I spelled it with an "a".

I remember it because a LIVING ROOM is sometimes called a DEN but the PERSON that sold you the tv in there was named DAN.

Imagine Baldy with benedict Cumberbatch or Emery Gideons voice, and ofcourse being a LI? I WOULD DIIIIEEE. (And replay DAI a thousand times) 

 

But I guess BW can´t use Emery´s gorgeous voice twice for LI, and BenYum is too much of a star to do a voice in a videogame.

I didn't want to believe it but this bald elf thing really is that serious? I'm frankly glad he not another Zevran, who people here loves and I have no love for whatsoever. I personally think he'll be cool and am glad he not following the usual elven archtype

I've forgot. This elf is Dorian or thay removed him from the game. If that mage was dalish he had tattos. He isn't city elf, completely.

This elf isn't Dorian.  There is a a post on BSN somewhere where Gaider questions why people are calling him Dorian and then calls it a conflation of a conflation.  No word if Dorian even exists any more.

Could be just dissembling though. It's in their interests to keep things ambiguous until the actual reveals, and no harm in speculation before then.

It is likely he'll be a companion if they went tot he trouble of releasing his body model and stuff. Question is, what exactly is he? We don't even know his name, much less anything else.

Idk about comments but the fact that they put him in the trailer makes me think they are leading up to revealing him.

I could be wrong ofc but it seems deliberate, like they are trying to hype up the character. The way we only saw the back of him but it was made clear that he was  a follower and not any of the confirmed three. 

 

But then they did a similar thing with the warden and the blonde elf, that wasn't the official trailer though and that was an incredibly brief unclear look at them, maybe just to encourage discussion

The next kit? My guess is Leliana. They will try to put off the unknown companions till it's closer to E3 or whatever con they will have a bigger presence at.

I dunno, I don't think Leliana will be a companion. We already have one repeat companion. I personally think that she will just have a cameo. Maybe as the person that reports on your progress? One of those rumored Castle/Stronghold NPCs that you can't party with but can still interact with? Like the Scribe from the leaked survey art? I dunno.

In that case, if they do another "familiar" character, they might piece with another one. The way they paired Varric and Cassandra together.
