That is exactly what my Inquisitor is going to be doing...99.9% of the time! Lovely drawing. 
I really hope this isn't too big. I have stayed up all night doing this. Serves me right for trying to get back into art after so long. And I realized after I posted it that it isn't even finished... bad Brass. No cookie.
It's not as good as some of the rest people have posted, so you'll have to forgive me for that. My anatomy skills are lacking, for sure.
Also I don't know why he's sad, but I'm sure he won't object to a hug or two.

I'm not sure what kind of ruin it is... I actually don't much like the door handles I put on there. Would have liked to make the door look engraved or something, for interest.

Ohhhhh dear, Solas bending over... Oooookay, between running around picking herbs with Solas and doing shirtless gardening with Cullen, my inquisitor isn't going to be getting much done.
I was trying to base his face off the screenshot... That enhance zoom pic someone posted helped a lot. So I think that's more a thing with the original artist and the modeler than it is with me. I do appreciate the praise, mind you.
Still not sure he looks quite right, think maybe I got his chin too wide. He kind of has heavy lids under his eyes, and a slight upcurve at the corner, and a slightly curved/hooked nose... Need better screenshots for references if I ever do this again... particularly for clothing/body.

Thank you. As for the eyes... the original is actually 300 dpi, 10 inches wide. Could make a poster of it if I really wanted to. Because it was that big I could zoom way in to make the eyes look better. Eyes are hard... I hardly ever get them to look even.
The colors... I mostly stuck with a similar color palette. Red-brown to golden-green, with some bluey-green in the background to cool it off and keep the eyes up front. While I ended up liking the colors, one thing I don't like is that tree... it fades out too much.
I always have to remind myself "I'm my own worst critic" too
Your skills are certainly better than mine (except maybe mouth drawing
). I always struggled at art growing up and was jealous of those that seemed to have a natural for it! Of course I was the guy that saw the world in math and would correct the mistakes my teachers made, so "grass is greener" in some ways
I was trying to get your angry scowl on there but he just looks sad. 
Thanks for the praise... I put hours of effort into this. Mostly because I need major practice on backgrounds and anatomy... which I didn't do much of because you can't see that much of him for all the bulky clothing and stufff.
And again, thanks everybody for the praise. I've been feeling pretty down lately about stuff in real life. You guys are great and positive and it makes me feel a little better.

I had a really weird thought. What if Solas isn't from the Circle OR the Dales OR Tevinter/Nevarra? What if we come to find out he's ancient and has been wakened out of uthenara? Yeah, I know, horribly unlikely, but with the Veil Tears, who knows what's possible? And any elf who's basically been living in the Fade for so long has a good chance of being an expert of the Fade. It's not a theory I believe to be correct, but it would be interesting if it were. Sort of like Javik, except he'd have known more of what was going on. But, if he were such an ancient being, I can guarantee you that would bump him right out of the romance option lineup.

This reminds me of when people were joking that Solas is actually Shartan! It would be an interesting concept, though, to have an ancient Fade elf around. On the subject of Solas being a special Fade elf, I'm once again wondering at the possibilities of him being somniari. It wasn't completely unconfirmed, after all!

Why do you think it'd make him not a romance option?
If he were ancient like that, he'd be so old and so disconnected from the present that he would most likely see everyone as children. Even the oldest living elves would be children to him. It would be hard for someone who had lived that long and seen that much to look at people who were so much younger in a romantic light. (And this is also one of the major creep factors of Twilight, for that matter, as if it needed any more creep factors (I am not a fan)--because Edward openly sees people of Bella's age as children and so...)
Not saying it wouldn't be possible for him to feel romantically inclined anyhow. I suspect we'll end up finding out he's just some really weird apostate, though. And even then there is no guarantee he'll be a romance option (even if they did give him a great body and a cute face. They do love fan tears.).
Lol. (I Hate twilight btw, but there are some good steamy vampire/god/sup/ novels/manga out there).

Personally the "I'm over thousands of years old, teach me your modern ways of love" sounds hot to me.
I loved the crazy "he is Shartan" theory. Even though Shartan wasn't a Mage. But with the veil tears, the theories are endless.

I somehow doubt he'd be anything like Javik, even if he were awakened from uthenara. For one thing, Bioware doesn't re-use personalities that close together, if at all. For another, Javik was basically dead (that's pretty much what cryostasis is, you're frozen and you're not conscious of anything), whereas an elf in uthenara may be in a sort of deathlike sleep, but they are fully conscious in the Fade. They can watch over the world, they can respond to people's requests for aid, etc. Javik wasn't conscious. Anything after being put into cryogenic sleep, he has forgotten. That would make a big difference between the two in experience alone, and nevermind personality--since I'm reasonably sure that Solas would not have been put into uthenara due to dire need.
It would make sense for a surviving ancient elf to take note of the Veil Tear and awaken to help deal with the fallout.
But that said, the theory is highly unlikely, for a variety of reasons.
