I know. But Brass Buckles threw out a weird theory a few pages back that I shared and felt as though his clothes could be explained by his attempts to blend in among City Elves. Sera would be more likely, but the more likely answer is also less interesting.

I've been reworking my fan art that has the background in it some, and it's looking way, way better now. Solas's face is more accurate, and more appealing to look at. His head no longer looks like it could belong to a Conehead. Also that door, that ugly awful door... well I'll show you guys in a bit. And I think I'll still have to revisit after this, just to detail the background some more.

I noticed too many problems with his face and I just couldn't let it go. Then I remembered some other stuff I had meant to do, but didn't. Then I got sick of that ugly plain door.
This is the results of my reworking, and I'm probably going to do more later to make the background prettier.
I wish I could legally sell prints of this once it's actually truly finished. The original is big enough to make an honest-to-goodness 11x17 poster out of. No joke. I may offer the full size as a download once it is done, so that people can go print out their own posters if they want to. I'm actually getting kind of proud of it now. Just needs some more texture and detail, mostly.

Solas: So that's a no on breakfast I take it?
You know, I'm not sure what it says in lore about uthenara, in terms of whether elves can waken from it naturally, etc. We only know that they used to go into it when they reached a certain age, but not if they ever actually wake up again. In fact, considering the song Leliana sang about it, it sounds like it might as well be death. The elf sort of becomes a guardian spirit in the Fade for his or her people, but never wakes again. Anyone have more information on this from some other source? World of Thedas (I should buy that book, I really should), or the comics maybe?
So, basically, if Solas were an ancient elf, somehow, I wonder if it would be a huge deal for him to actually be awake and wandering around again. I wonder if it's even possible for an elf to choose to reawaken, knowing disaster is happening in the real world, or if they're just stuck in the Fade.
That said, your little dialogue skit is hilarious.

@Brass_Buckles the picture is absolutely gorgeous just like before! I love that it has a dream-like quality to it, which might just be fitting for Solas!
Stringing a couple ideas here together, what would be interesting is if maybe we met him in the fade, or a dream, and he asked us to come to Arlathan and wake him up in the real world.

If Bioware is going to give him hair then it HAS to be exactly like this, I think it would make him 100x more sexy and badass.
This is going to sound creepy out of context, but I think I need to chop off Solas's head and replace his body.
... Which means a whole lot of repainting, but his anatomy from neck to torso is really atrocious and I know I can do better than that.
How will we bump into Solas? Hmm... I'm going to try hard to be serious here and offer up my baseless speculation.
Our Inquisitor's story begins with the Fade ripping open and essentially destroying the existing Inquisition. Our Inquisitor frantically tries to flee the Fade monsters and, in a moment of desperation, does something that closes the tear and saves her life. Solas has been investigating the thinning of the Veil (from inside or outside of the Fade, I'm not sure) and will witness the Inquisitor's mysterious feat. As an expert he thought he knew everything about the Fade and is intrigued by this unknown power, so he follows and observes her. At some point, the Inquisitor is faced with another Fade tear and can't figure out how she closed the first one, at which point Solas makes himself known to her and offers to help her rediscover the ability.
Now the not serious answer to "How will my Inquisitor bump into Solas?" Repeatedly and in a horizontal position, hoooooo
