How will we bump into Solas?  Hmm... I'm going to try hard to be serious here and offer up my baseless speculation.

 

Our Inquisitor's story begins with the Fade ripping open and essentially destroying the existing Inquisition.  Our Inquisitor frantically tries to flee the Fade monsters and, in a moment of desperation, does something that closes the tear and saves her life.  Solas has been investigating the thinning of the Veil (from inside or outside of the Fade, I'm not sure) and will witness the Inquisitor's mysterious feat.  As an expert he thought he knew everything about the Fade and is intrigued by this unknown power, so he follows and observes her.  At some point, the Inquisitor is faced with another Fade tear and can't figure out how she closed the first one, at which point Solas makes himself known to her and offers to help her rediscover the ability.

 

Now the not serious answer to "How will my Inquisitor bump into Solas?"  Repeatedly and in a horizontal position, hoooooo

 

Solas is like our shiny-headed, pajama-wearing guardian angel!

You know, if he's a Fade expert, the most logical place to meet him is... in the Fade.

 

What if he literally shows up in a dream or something?  That would be trippy.

 

The whole meeting him in a dream would actually be really cool. Perhaps he could also stumble upon us while we're closing our very first Fade tear, but the dream thing still sounds neater

I can see the inquisitor encountering Solas in the fade where he has been a guide for centuries and then he asks them to awaken his body so he may help them in restoring balance to the world. Finding and awakening Solas could be a quest.

I don't know if BW has made a mistake, or it was a deliberate plan on portraying Solas with that accent. Hard to tell.

It's a cool idea but I would be a bit worried that it'd be too similar to Javik in ME3!

As someone pointed out sooner, Solas would still be conscious in the fade, aware of the changes of the world.  My variation of the theory suggests he awakened sometime prior and has been living feral.  While waking him up has its dramatic benefits, so, too, does, "You're WHAT now?"

Also, I don't normally play dwarves, but now I want to have a dwarven Inquisitor and to be able to "mother" Solas.. even if he is an ancient elf... That would just make it even better really.

Not as exciting but it'd be kind of funny if he just threw out the fact that he's an ancient elf in random conversation. Like Alistair's reveal except much, much more shocking! If he's been aware of changes the whole time, he'd be aware that it's best to not draw attention to himself, thus the infamous long johns.

Now all I can imagine is him having gorgeous, flowing, waist-length hair and shaving it off because he thought that was the "normal" thing to do.

Honestly, I have no idea, at least not until we get more information about who he is and his personality. I do imagine that it could easily involve coming across him as he is emersed in some sort of fade study of the tears while the Inquisitor tries to close them.

I've been guessing that maybe we will meet him coming out of a veil tear. It's just a guess though...

I mean he is a Fade expert.

I noticed too many problems with his face and I just couldn't let it go.  Then I remembered some other stuff I had meant to do, but didn't.  Then I got sick of that ugly plain door.

 

This is the results of my reworking, and I'm probably going to do more later to make the background prettier.

 

I wish I could legally sell prints of this once it's actually truly finished.  The original is big enough to make an honest-to-goodness 11x17 poster out of.  No joke.  I may offer the full size as a download once it is done, so that people can go print out their own posters if they want to.  I'm actually getting kind of proud of it now.  Just needs some more texture and detail, mostly.
