It's been confirmed on twitter about the options.
Cullen is either straight or bi, and since hes a npc thats leaving only one male companion option for female gamers. Unless there are more options. I'm really hoping Solas is Bi. Or a LI at all for that matter. I'm trying not to dwell, here, really.

Everyone on the forums is such a doomsayer. We don't know if there are going to be just 2 romance options or not yet. Stay positive!

 

Besides, I'm surprised at how many people already know who they're going to romance. I'm never positive until I actually play the game. In DA2 I though I was going to chase after Anders and then pursued Isabella instead.

My husband saw the same picture on my Desktop as well and he said "Not a bad looking guy for an Alien!" lol I told him he's not an alien he's an elf he just grinned of course teasing me like he does...

I would be very surprised if Gaider didn't write the exclusively gay LI. I doubt Cass is going to be a lesbian, but who knows. So that means his other LI will probably be gay.

Maybe this thread wants to reconsider its assumption that he's the writer .

This would have been a really touching moment, a situation where she'd have to hurt her lover to save her life (I felt that way when I asked Alistair to do the dark ritual).  Hmm, this brings to mind the Anders/Karl situation.  My heart would have broken in two if Anders had said something like "I'll always love you" before knifing Karl.  Ugh, there would have been tears for sure.

Same here (and with the Anders thing...I was so sure I was going to pick him, but I never could make it through his romance arc...he just wasn't for me). I know who I'm interested in, but it's always the VA and writing that decides me, and of course we can't know how that'll all play out yet. The only thing I know for sure is that I want some good options. Well, and for Solas to have a hot voice and be available to my lady Inquisitor. And for whatever a bog unicorn is to be badass.

 

No, wait, I also want the Hat of Awesome.

Also, just before we get all doom and glood, Darrah's tweet said character's, not Companions. So far all the games have had good characters of every sexuality. We do not yet know the status of the LI's as of yet. (Here's hoping the go the bi-route again. Personally, I found that made most people, myself included, happy)

 

 Let's wait for the Devs to make offical comments and then there will be no need for speculation. Just my two cents.

I demand more fanart of all kinds to lighten the "doom". To be honest, the chances of him being an LI, awesome, bi are high. Friday if he's reveled, maybe they will let us know.

I'm going to assume you also found him whiny and clingy, because that's why I dumped him. But I agree with the rest of what you said. We don't even know what Solas is like, I feel bad that people are getting their hopes up, because there are so many unknowns. It might be wise for people to try to temper their excitement/disappointment until we have more info than what little we do have.

I will be very sad if I can't romance Solas as a female inquisitor, since I won't be playing a male. I might have to shun him to avoid the sadness.

 

As long as either Solas or DHMG is romance-able by a female inquisitor, I'll be happy.

 

If both of them are...that's gonna be a tough choice. If neither of them are...I guess there's Cullen?

I'm a bit surprised at how bisected the fanbase is regarding Cullen. I thought he was an alright guy, but we don't particularly know jack squat about him as a person other than his political views and skill as a leader. 

 

Also, if I can finish all my finals on time, I'll try to do a quick sketchup of Solas for the thread he looks like he has a fun face to draw. Very gaunt.

Yes, this. SO MUCH THIS.  "Hi, I've spent the last three years thinking dirty thoughts about you in my basement. Wanna get it on? And can I move in?"  Which...okay, being kind of creepy and living in a basement isn't actually a deal breaker for me for an in-game LI (*hangs head in shame*), but the incessant whining got to me. Fenris whined a lot too (I mean, when a guy's brooding actually has its own theme music, you know you're in trouble), but Gideon Emery + emo elf hotness made it decidedly more bearable. 

 

I'm with you on the rest as well.  I'm excited for the game, the lineup is very visually appealing, and I'm sure I'll enjoy playing regardless.  So...best to focus on the fact that we'll get to ride (or maybe waddle? galumph?) off into the sunset on our kickass bog unicorns  (or halla or four-legged ride of your choice) with somebody awesome no matter who it ends up being.  We're no doubt in for plenty of character-related surprises anyway.  That's part of the fun, right?

 

Until then, though, totally OD'ing on Solas fanart because I LOVE IT.  Speaking of, it would be nice to see a new Schumacher creation one of these days...

I thinks it's because Cullen's a npc. I want to romance someone I can have at my side always. Lol. With adventure and choice and the overall detail the romances are getting this game. I want to be able to enjoy that. As a straight female gamer. But, I want Solas to be bi. Because those lips, those eyes, that I understand the fades, needs to be loved by all that wish it face. If he's tragic, then all shall have their heart broken. Who wish it. I love Gaider's romances, so if he's the writer, I really hope Solas is bi.

I didn't even last long enough to get that far with Anders. I "moved on" with Isabela relatively quickly. By the way "when a guy's brooding actually has its own theme music, you know you're in trouble" made me laugh so hard. Funny 'cause it's true.

 

To be quite honest, there isn't anyone in the lineup besides Cole I don't find attractive. I don't like Cullen's personality (from what we know) but when I looked at Cullen 3.0 I definitely appreciated the improvement. All I really hope for is that despite physical appearances, I can find someone I can click with on more than a physical level. So I hope everyone else can find that too. But people are very set on their visual favourites.

I know a lot of people are disappointed because they want Cullen around them constantly, but back when I was hoping that maybe Leliana would be romancable if you hadn't already romanced her I considered that it might be an interesting thing. I think the problem stems from people assuming that NPC romances will have less content, but it could be that companions get "on the road" banter, while NPC romances get "returning home" face to face conversations. Which I think would be preferable in some cases. Being able to catch up with what you've been doing, etc.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that I suspect Solas is Weekes' character, even though I have no evidence for it.

 

I also suspect, due to reasons, that Solas and Felassen are one and the same...

First off, there's the violet eyes with dark circles under them.  Sure, he could just have that resemblance in common.  It's possible.  But then we have the fact that another character (I think Imshael?) asked Felassen if that was what he was calling himself these days... so he had changed his name.  And, presumably, after failing his master, or presuming he could trick this other person, Felassen would have taken the name Solas, Pride, as a reminder of that failure.  Because he'd been proud to assume he could "win" that fight.

 

Now, if it's true, and he is Felassen somehow, despite Felassen being supposed-to-be-dead, there is the potential he'd betray the Inquisitor.  And yet, he might once again defy his master/demon/whatever is commanding him.  He also very well might be an ancient elf; Felassen never specified how old he was but it seemed like he knew too much to be an ordinary elf.  Of course, he could also have learned all that he knew from chilling out with spirits and demons who answered his questions.

 

If dreaming alone sends Felassen to the Fade, also, and Solas is Felassen, it would suggest that he is a Dreamer, or something close to it.  He used herbs to send himself to the Fade in TME, though.

 

If Solas is Felassen, we also have no idea whether he's gay, straight, or bi.  Personally I thought that there was some evidence he and Briala shared some attraction, which was quelled by the fact Briala was with Celene and thus not acted on.  But, it could just as easily have been a completely platonic relationship.  Felassen could very well have been gay.  There was no evidence for either that I remember.  And so, he could also very easily be asexual and not interested in anyone.

 

I  do wonder which would be more interesting:  Solas as Felassen, or Solas as an ancient elf.

 

In any case... I'm holding further fan art hostage until I know Solas is an option for Fem-Inquisitor.  It may seem selfish, but frankly I don't want to get too attached and then find out he can only ever be Femquisitor's best friend, and not her boyfriend.  So for the time being, I'm hoping he's bisexual so everyone can have a piece of him, but expecting him to be gay and therefore off-limits to my Inquisitor, or to not be interested in romance at all.
