I didn't read the book but doesn't said character have vallaslin? Solas definitely does not.
Then again, we don't know what crazy magic he could have done to himself. This is Dragon Age, there could be a thousand explanations!
As someone else pointed out before, his tattoos seemed to move. They could've been illusory or magical in nature... But I'd have to get into spoilers to say more... so...
Noooo. My fanart is being held hostage until I know if my Inquisitor can be more than friends with him... Until then I have decided not to get too invested in him, other than as a curiosity and hopefully, in game, a platonic friend. Because I might hope he's romanceable, but I get the feeling he's gonna turn my little Dalish Inquisitor down so hard that she'll have to pry her boots out of the ground...
Me too, but there's always fanfiction if he's not romanceable? My hopes for him and for the game in general are growing dangerously high, I hope I'm not crushed by disappointment!

As for the books, TME and Asunder both lead up to DAI as they occur over roughly the same period of time. But one doesn't particularly spoil the other so I'd say you're fairly safe to read them in whichever order you please.

Cool, thanks! Hope you get some sleep. I'm guilty of making my future self hate me for lack of sleep often enough too. But it's just so nice and quiet late at night, and it's the only time of day when nobody's asking me for things! Sweet dreams.
People are still saying that Solas looks like Nic Cage but I'm really not seeing it anymore. Hmm, maybe I'm not looking hard enough?
Yeah, I never saw it. I think he looks a bit more like Mark Strong, through the eyes anyway. Solas has a thinner face and fuller lips, but they both have that angular, intense look. Also, if they got Mark Strong to voice him I would be unable to romance anyone else, ever. The man's voice is like aural chocolate.

They want to judge this character when we hardly know a thing about him?....sickening!

Well elves were always apparently hairless other than eyebrows and what was on their head so I guess we're a little used to the idea
Supposedly, but there is that one elf in Origins who for some reason had some stubble I think it was, and in the Masked Empire Patrick refers to the "hairs raising" on Briala's arms

I'm not too bothered by it but I find it curious that being bald seems to make people completely blind to everything else about him. It makes me wonder how people would be talking about him if he DID have hair.

This kinda reminds me of me being a Thanemancer...I feel like I'm going through that again,everybody saying "Yeah Thane died so what it was very touching!"...no it wasn't it sucked! Especially for my Femshep! I guess that's why I'm being so defensive although the game isn't even out yet I feel like Solas is being judged too quickly by some people which he is, I'm not saying everybody needs to like him just stop with the "He's bald nope don't like him"! bs... at least give him a chance or find another darn reason and a good one to not like him...geez!

Thane.. My biggest heartbreak ever. There is no better character than him...ever. I was so angry at BW.
Anyways, I only care for horses! Cant wait to run around in Thedas on a glorious black stallion. Which I will name Agro, as a tribute to Shadow of Colossus.

I think the new mounts sound fantastic! I pre-ordered the deluxe edition (not sure if I'll upgrade to the collector's...guess it depends on the price and goodies), and it comes with a bog unicorn. I'm thinking it's not your standard horned horse...which is kind of a shame, because I would totally prance around Thedas on a sparkly white unicorn. I really want to ride a halla, though! And I really, really want to ride a dragon, but I doubt that'll work out. Maybe next game.
Small question: people keep quoting that elves are hairless apart from on their heads and eyebrows. Was this in World of Thedas? You see I don't recall anyone saying anything in game about elves bodies being hairless. I know Zevran and my elf Warden didn't have hairy chests but I didn't realise that proved anything. I know that in D&D lore elves are hairless on their bodies but that is a different game world. I must admit I would find it odd seeing an elf with a beard but after all that doesn't preclude having hair on your body, otherwise the majority of women, who do not have noticeable facial hair or hairy chests, would not have such a problem with hairy armpits and legs. So what is the source on hairless elves?
Yeah I'm not very good at accepting the death of my romances either. I think it's just kind of (I wouldn't say it completely ruins it but I can't find a better word for it) takes away the attachment I had to that character itself and the story. I'd rather have a happy ending too ofcourse, otherwise the whole thing just feels so empty and unfullfilling to me. On the mount question, I'm going with the halla mount for my first playthrough on my elfquisitor definitely, just because you know, dalish elves and halla are a perfect match 
That's after I manage to find out where to get a boxed edition with the pre-order bonuses because no one seems to have it available yet in this stupid country.. 
I know, when playing the Dalish Elf Origin, I, like many, observed a striking similarity to Ashitaka of Princess Mononoke. Having a red halla mount will make the allusion pretty much complete. ;D

I'm so excited about follow Friday. But I've holstered my expectations the last few days. If he is reveled tomorrow and is as awesome as we have speculated. Keeping hopes in checked will be harder if they don't reveal LI status. Im praying to the maker and sacrificing nugs that he is bi. Either way though, I'm sure he'll be a permanent party member for my female elf inquisitor, because of those lips and glorious baldness. Also, we need more appreciation for that adorable buttchin. Seriously. Solas is very lickable and lets hope all those who wish it, can lick it.

I can't stand tragic endings and tragic romances that's just not my thing...I've had enough drama in my life I don't need it added into the games that I play..one of the things I like about Bioware games is they give you a choice good/bad but when they didn't give my shepard a choice to save Thane...yeah that was not cool! 
Anyways I have a feeling though that once we get to know Solas more the more people(not that solas doesn't have fans now) will look past the baldness...I mean hey if David Gaider is defending him Solas has got to be an interesting character right?
Also I'm quite surprised they put in a lizard mount in there...maybe I'll have my Male Inquisitor ride that thing...of course lizards walk kind of funny (well to me) lol...I can just see how funny looking he will look on the lizard!

Whenever I see something negative about him, I bristle a little (well for any of the new characters, really, because geez we know almost nothing about them yet). If he ends up doing something terrible in-game, somehow I'm probably going to forgive him anyways.

Lickable is the word I use for him too! 
Look at those ears, look at those lips! I have a feeling Solas will be a permanent party member for me too, regardless of his LI status. He seems like the kind of character I'd keep around constantly to make sure I hear every line of banter out of him.
I think I am especially fond of Solas' looks because we share some features (ones that I have felt insecure about in the past). I haven't always been fond of my dimpled chin, kind of sleepy eyes and perpetual dark circles, so it's nice to see them reflected in a character I feel positive about so far.

I know what you mean! My sister knows I love him already so whenever I force her to look at DA:I stuff she goes out of her way to insult him (jokingly, I can tell she loves him too). I made the mistake of reading comments on a few articles and pages showing the new trailer and... people are awful. Poor BSN getting **** for being negative, we're awesome especially compared to the hate-spewing meanies out there. People say terrible things about characters they don't know. So weird, but I guess people do that about strangers IRL too. RynJ, there are characters who've done bad things that I will always forgive 
Solas would fall into that category I believe
