Actually I won't be surprised if the scribe girl is NOT a romance, but Vivienne is.  I don't know why but I have this notion that Vivienne might be a lesbian available to the Inquisitor.  It won't surprise me if Cullen is the only NPC romance.  It will displease me (since it means more than likely the straight women players are given less content yet again and because I'm not at all interested in Cullen, as of the end of DA2), but it will not surprise me.

 

And I repeat, while I'll be disappointed if Solas is not available, it'll be the fan rage from others that bothers me more.  Replaying DA:O I feel like I'd almost be better off avoiding the romances entirely, or maybe giving Zevran another try.  Yet when I first played, I was absolutely wild for Alistair.  And now I just find him kind of annoying.  I wonder if I'd feel the same replaying Mass Effect 1-3.  I used to like Kaidan, too, but then ME2 happened, and in ME3 all he did was yell at my Shepard.  But I wonder if I replayed now, would I even be able to tolerate Garrus...

 

In all honesty, interacting with the characters and making choices are the most important aspects of the game.  And yet, that does not mean that romance isn't at all important, because, from a roleplaying standpoint, it is.  It's also pretty adorable, too, sometimes.

Hm.  If Solas had a hand in decorating the Keep, what would he do to it, I wonder?  I'm thinking furs.  Everywhere.  And also green.  Maybe pinstripe wallpaper.

 

I also think it would be fur...and dragons teeth along with jars of Sela Petrae on the shelves...gross! lol

 

I'm joking on the Sela petrae of course...but I've been wondering is that really a dragon's tooth he's wearing around his neck?

No problem. I hadn't intended to push the issue. I just appreciated what Gaider said. I also hope people don't close themselves off from other potential characters due to looks or disappointment. As for Garrus, I romanced Liara and when I tried to romance Garrus I realised I'd already friendzoned him, so it was a little awkward.

 

Anyway, Solas is the last person I want decorating anything.  Sorry, Solly.

 

Solas's decorations would probably be very woodsy/outdoorsy, if his clothing is any indication.  And as someone who's not fond of stuffed dead animals staring at me from the walls, I tend to agree with you...

 

Vivienne might not have an issue with the blue pinstripe wallpaper, though, at least not until she realized that Solas planned to use it to make it easier for him to blend in with the walls...

I highly doubt the dragon age team would write Cullen as a romance unless they felt it could be as fully fleshed out as any companion romance. Also, for all we know there could be 3 male companion romances and Cullen could be a happy bonus. Who knows.

 

Beyond that, I know that ME sucked for Straight women (and as a gay man, it's a bit like preaching to the choir) but in the Dragon Age series straight women have had more romance options than any other group.

Neverwinter Nights also had non-companion romances. David has previously talked about that game and people's reaction to the romances as one of the reasons he was reluctant to include such things in DA.

I think if they're doing it, they're going to take a lot of effort to do it right. I'm not particularly interested in Cullen as my first character will be Dalish, and I just don't see that working out... But we'll see.

Did you read what DG said about romances? I think he made some interesting points. Specifically how he made it seem like the sexuality of characters we don't romance may come into play. I know that's probably not much of a consolation for people who are excited, but I like the idea.

Do you have the source for this? Just want to be clear about what the devs have and haven't said.

 

Because I would rather like it if characters are allowed to express their sexuality outside of being into the Inquisitor, it's what always impressed me about Aveline.

I'm too tired to go back and quote posts, but at some point we talked about Solas' necklace thing   Here are the dragon teeth and claws we've seen so far.  They all look pretty chunky, but obviously we haven't seen many yet.

 

 

...but whatever is hanging around his neck looks like it has the basic anatomy of a talon from a bird of prey.  Solas' pendant thingy looks pretty wicked, you can even see that the inner edge is serrated so whatever creature it came from could definitely mess people up!

 

 

Edit:  Ick, I'm super grossed out by looking at pictures of these so I won't post them... I'll just say bear claws look different.  Ick

It reminds me of the sheep jaw bones I had as a kid (I've always been weird, apparently) because the serrated parts look like teeth sockets to me. But I can also see how it might be a claw. I suppose either way it indicates Solas is a fair hunter.

Wow, it does look like one (apparently I forgot you mentioned that in a previous post, I really should be asleep >.<).  I'm still sticking to my previous statement: whatever creature it came from could really mess you up.  My experiences with sheep haven't been pleasant

That's interesting, thank you. Even if he isn't going to be voiced by Johnny Galecki, it's possible he is being voiced by someone with a voice similar to Johnny. Though I would hope he uses Johnny's standard voice, and not his nerdy one.

I... actually wouldn't mind. I like Johnny Galecki as an actor and I can't really picture Solas with a dark deep voice. Then I could have my awkward fade-nerd and be happy
