Well I can say that following BioWare games over the last couple years has taught me to take my expectations and at least partially stop expecting them.

 

Sounds a little harsh, but hey! I'm actually not really mad about it but there it is.

It may be otherwise fleshed out, but a non-companion romance will still be inherently lesser, because you can't take that character along on missions with you.  They might approach you in town, or in camp, but they can't fight by your side and offer witty banter as you wander the map.  Now, I could be wrong--maybe they follow with you until you enter combat, or even stay on the sidelines while you fight.  But, I doubt it...

 

Hm.  Regardless, speaking of Solas and fur... You know, maybe he wears that fur shoulder wrap as compensation for his lack of hair:  "I don't have hair, no, but you can run your hands through this animal pelt I'm wearing.  It's nice and soft, I promise."

This has maybe been discussed already, but I noticed on the wiki that Felassan also had violet eyes.

Anyone think that might have relevance? It's not exactly something we've seen before now.

Not to mention the glowing green staff that shrinks to the size of a stick. There are a few older screen shots of Solas where his staff looked like a light saber. Plus concept art where his staff seemed shorter. I'm starting to lean toward the idea if Solas is the "Judas" hed have something to do with Felassan.

I always love to see your stuff, Nefla. Is there any reason you're going to start doing sad stuff? I thought I held the market on being a jerk to Solas.

Thank you I wont be doing sad stuff on the regular, just one or two.

Man, I'm really hoping for a very intricate CC.  I'm especially hoping for racial options, like Qunari horn slider, Elven Ear size slider, that kinda thing.  8D

Aww. I don't buy it. If Solas is the traitor I will eat Vivienne's hat. But I will be glad to see more fan art either way.

I'm a bigger fan on the ancient elf, sleeper theory than the Judas/Fesselan theory myself. Either way, my female elf inquizzitor's love will solve everything.

I'm really not convinced of the traitor theory either, if anyone would betray us I would think it was Cole. But on the other hand, what am I basing this on, a few pictures of Solas?.. Otherwise if it is true about the whole betrayal thing I hope it's going to be like Isabela's thing, where if you had a high enough approval she would come back anyway.

We definitely need some good character-specific merch in the BW store.  My "Enchantment? Enchantment!" shirt is getting pretty worn, and I wasn't big on any of the DA2 shirts they had.

 

I hope the Solas betrayal theories are wrong.  I do not want to deal with another "Damn it, Anders!" moment. They wouldn't do that to us twice...um, right?

Felassan (am I misspelling it as Felassen... name is way too close to the name of a character written by Anne McCaffrey, so even though I am by no means a fan of Pern these days, it influences how I read his name...) did show signs of being a traitor, though.  His plan was to get control of the eluvians through using Briala.  He didn't.  Instead, he betrayed his master.  But what he did do might even arguably be worse--he did nothing to stop Imshael from being released into the world.  He could have said something, or done something, but he didn't until the demon was free.  It made me think that freeing Imshael may have been part of his plan.  That was pretty treacherous of him.

 

If this needs to be put into spoiler tags, just let me know...

 

In any case, I think we need to know a bit more about Solas before we can presume he might be a traitor.  Yes, Cole is also likely to betray the Inquisitor.  But if you noticed in that screenshot, Vivienne and Cassandra were the only ones not looking at the Inquisitor.  Varric was closest in pose to Judas.

 

We can probably expect to be betrayed.  More than likely we will be able to prevent it, or change the mind of our potential betrayer.

Perhaps Solas will only betray us if we side with Orlais instead of the elves.  Or perhaps he'll betray us if we side with the Dalish over the city elves, or vice versa.  Or perhaps he'll only betray us if he just  doesn't like us.  Perhaps there's a chance almost anyone in our party could betray us.

 

We just don't know enough.  October 7 cannot come soon enough for me...
