I think I'm gonna go with
1. female elf mage - solas
2. female qunari warrior - cassandra or iron bull ( I doubt he'll be an option, though)
3. male elf rogue - sera (or solas again..)
4. male/female human mage - dorian or cullen

I feel like Solas is going to be the Anders of DA:I for me, meaning I end up romancing him on every playthrough. What can I say, I have a weakness for renegade mages! I would be very, very surprised (and disappointed) if he isn't a LI. He seems too important to the plot to not be and he's also the only male elf in the party. Although Dorian also seems very possible and if he's an LI I doubt they'd give us two male mages for romance...

I'm not sure how to feel about Solas possibly being the judas of the party. I really don't want any of the companions betraying us tbh and especially not him since I'm already too attatched to him. But I think I would be okay with him doing something like Anders, not betraying the Inquisitor, just taking matters to his own hands. Although that would be too similar to what happened in DA2. I hope it isn't true and that people are just reading too much into it.

And about the Solas=Felassan thing. How do you explain that Felassan has vallaslin and Solas doesn't?

His vallaslin is described as "shifting" a few times throughout the book. Combined with the implications that he may not be a Dalish elf at all, I'm inclined to think they are magical in nature, and thus, impermanent.

Earlier it was mentioned that his tight pants point to him being an LI... I sort of agree with this, but I think it's more the seams than the tightness (omg Solas please forgive me):

I finally got caught up with this thread. Starting a new job the same day the trailer launched made it nearly impossible to catch up!

 

I know I don't post as often as the rest of you, but there's so much that's been discussed I don't even know where to start.

 

Wait, yes I do. I am despondent that I missed the talk of a Solas/Inquisitor/Dorian threesome. Throw in Sera and I think I might just have found the Best Idea Ever. Can this be a thing? Pretty please?

 

Everyone's talking about their romances, but since I have ten (eleven?) different imports I'll just list my first three, like all the cool kids are doing:

 

1) Female Human Mage (probably Necromancer) - Dorian

2) Male Dwarf Rogue (probably tempest) - Cassandra or Solas

3) Female Elven Mage (probably rift mage) - Solas

 

. . . and I will finish my post by saying that I will never, ever look at his pants again and not see a landing strip/runway, gently coaxing my future Inquisitor in safely.

Good grief I'm laughing so hard I literally spit tea all over my keyboard. I just imagine the person who designed Solas snickering behind their computer at his pants, you don't give an elf those pants without implying to look in that direction...I think my Inquisitor will probably be distracted to that ehm.. area.. while he's having a perfectly serious conversation, even if not intentional But hey if he squeaks we'll know where he is at that time, kind of like a tracker device?

I really like f!warrior/m!mage pairings, so if DHMG is m/m only, I'm going to romance Solas (if available) with a female human reaver.

I just am really drawn to the idea of mage/non-mage pairings. While forbidden apostate love is also magical, I just really like the dynamic of the mage having a LI who isn't, but who still loves him/her and seeks to protect him/her from the templars and whatnot. 

 

 

 

Either way, whatever kind of pants he has, they're tight, and I'm pretty sure that's about the sex appeal.  And why would you worry about sex appeal for a character who is unavailable for romance?

 

The bolded sentence is what gives me some small hope that Varric may be a LI this time. I mean, dat sexy overhaul in the new engine... would be cruelty to make him that smokin' hot and make him off-limits AGAIN. 

 

As far as Solas, he's definitely the "new" companion I want to know the most about. Really hope he makes a Follower Friday soon, if we get another one of those.

 

I'd be interested if there's any connection between him and Felassen having violet eyes. I'm intrigued by so many potential implications... or it may just be an interesting but unrelated coincidence. *shrugs*

 

Also, apologies for those annoyed by the Nicholas Cage thing.   I kinda-sorta accidentally started that as I  think I was the first who saw a very vague resemblance from the blurry German magazine far-away screenshot and randomly mentioned it in the Twitter thread. And then it just somehow took off like a rocket and became an entire forum meme. Gaider even tweeted about it and I'm still a little mortified (and yet also bemused) by how that train took off.

 

I don't think it's really a comparable resemblance anymore, but it seems that meme ship sailed a long time ago. Oops.

You created a monster!  hehe but really don't feel bad about the Nic Cage thing, I though he looked like him in the first screenshot, too.  Once created, memes have a life of their own   You probably actually did him a favor.  A lot of people dismissed him as bland and boring when he was first shown but he's gotten a lot of attention since the comparison from people who might've overlooked him otherwise.  Maybe they'll keep him in their party to laugh at him and then fall in love.  Then I'll get jealous and telling them to keep their judgmental hands off my sexy elf (told you I get protective!).

 

I fell asleep on the couch with TME on my face last night after a few minutes so I didn't finish it, but I looked under the spoiler tag AND I TOTALLY GOT THE REFERENCE!  I feel like such a big girl.  Until I finish the book I won't comment on anything, except to say how easily I develop crushes on fictional characters.  Every. I love having a protective love interest for my character! Very romantic you feel the love for your Character,felt that with both Anders and Fenris!

Aw, I love that too!  Though I have a Female Warrior Hawke with Fenris as my canon playthrough...they both needed someone to look after them, so it ended up  being mutually beneficial that way.  And I'm a sucker for grumpy and/or slightly awkward. *eyes Solas again*

Because we're just not good enough.  We'll never be good enough.  And my Inquisitor is going to have an ugly cry about it all at some point when she's tired of whoever else's drama.  

 

I certainly hope they've created a few attainable LIs who can compete!

I think Varric is handsome in the new trailer and I definitely tried flirting in DA2, but I'd feel a little weird romancing him.  I understand why others are very interested in him, I just think getting physical with him would feel like kissing my sister.

 

Ugh, I can't get over how cute information like that would be.  "To keep his memory alive, Solas wears the jawbone of his childhood pet and dearest friend Snuggle Bug, the nug."

 

Edit: Reading TME after hearing comparisons of Solas to Felassan and DHMG to Ser Michel is really odd.
