Apparently I am the only one who never had those sorts of feelings for Varric. How awkward.

But despite that I do kind of hope they make him a LI, it would be nice to have a non-human/elven option for once (though I'd prefer Bull). I guess it's not likely, but there is still a chance. And I feel for you all because I know Vivi will become my Varric.

Anyway, the trailer was cool and all, but damn I would love some more info on the personalities of the characters, even if it was something ridiculous or seemingly uninteresting like "Solas spends his spare time darning his socks and finds it quite relaxing."

 

I see Varric as a friend, a pal and only that...but who knows maybe he will be an LI for the dwarve ladies?

 

 

I also hope we will get new info on Solas soon...we know more about Varric and Cassandra than we do the rest of the companions....

I never cared for Varric, and I am not excited about his return. He is largely irrelevant.

 

I can understand that. I felt like I missed half of the relationship I was supposed to be having with him. There were all these talks about all the great times we'd had at the Hanged Man. And I don't remember any of them (I'd never get that drunk, so that's no excuse). Maybe this time it will be different.

 

I think Varric is handsome in the new trailer and I definitely tried flirting in DA2, but I'd feel a little weird romancing him.  I understand why others are very interested in him, I just think getting physical with him would feel like kissing my sister.

 

Ugh, I can't get over how cute information like that would be.  "To keep his memory alive, Solas wears the jawbone of his childhood pet and dearest friend Snuggle Bug, the nug."

It seems many people on these boards watch anime. I never have, unless you count the 1980s Astro Boy or those Hayao Miyazaki movies. And I constantly have no idea what people are talking about when they reference it. So clearly I have no idea what you're talking about. But I like that picture of Solas.

I'm getting fond of DHMG too! It also helps that I have a feeling that I'm going to ship Dorian and Solas together anyways  They seem like they'd be such opposites but not at each other's throats like people suspect Dorian and Vivienne will be. Though everything is still up in the air!

I think you can have dual thread citizenship.

 

But yes, it does sort of feel harder to wait. When a new info bomb hits, I find myself reeling and wanting to take my brain out of my head for a few hours, because I'm having trouble processing so much awesome all at once. But by the next morning, I'm desperate for more to feed the addiction.

I think I would like something to speculate about. Floods of information make it harder for me, not to mention in-game spoilers come out during them which are difficult to avoid. But I find the speculation fun. I've been keeping tabs on character threads for a while now, and it seems like the conversations go in circles so there's not a whole lot to contribute. It would be great if we could get some letters to give us an idea about the followers without telling us anything game-specific. Like what we got with Vivi.

Are you sure about that?  I could speculate and speculate.  It's fun to do.  We could even write up entire speculative personalities that Solas might have, if we really wanted to.  And I suspect we'd have fun at it, too.

Don't know about favorite food but I bet he's that guy who can eat the most spicy food and not even bat an eye. That lack of response makes you think the food is just normal and then you take a bite of it and end up crying while pouring a gallon of water down your throat.

The jawbone is probably some kind of charm, but I liked what Ispan said about it being part of his childhood pet. 

 

As for favourite food, something simple yet surprisingly flavourful. Mashed potatoes with butter? Passionfruit? OK I'm listing things I want to eat, this isn't working.

It's an interesting read, but I have to disagree with Solas-as-a-city elf, since he has apparently been out in the woods on his own for long enough to know how to handle pelts and the like.  More likely, he hails from some smaller settlement.  Still not Dalish, but certainly more aware of the wilderness than a city-raised elf would be.  Which begs the question of whether his family had been hiding him as an apostate, or... well, precisely what his background is.

 

I do wish he would turn out to be an ancient elf, but... undoubtedly he won't.

I feel like a fool for not looking up what a scotch bonnet is. (To be honest, I mistook it for the butterscotch candy and I was 'he's like the candy old people seem to have a lot of???') Now I am certain I have been envisioning his personality completely wrong.

It is possible he could be quite the confident character and that the current screen-shots featuring him just have him being exceptionally tired. (I feel like I've read speculations on tumblr, or here, about him being a Dreamer and the possibility that he's avoiding sleep. Sleep depravity aside, I can only assume a successful Dreamer would have to have the utmost confidence in oneself and a sound mind to ensure demons do not overtake them.) I believe such characterization would be supported by the war room concept, as featured on the front page. We have a very amused Solas in the background while everyone else is either shocked, shouting, or concerned.

However, back to the food comparison subject at hand, what I think about when eating spicy peppers (raw at least) is how when you eat them you're all like 'cool, whatever', but then the heat builds up and you find yourself crying. This uh... this really concerns me, to say the least. I really don't want to think we're all going to get burned later. Or, perhaps it's just a warning to handle with care. It seems they (the peppers) can be sweet, painfully spicy, or manageable when cooked.

It is something to ponder for sure.

I especially liked what she said about Solas's clothing :] that it's blue and cool like the fade, and the colors match him based on what we know of him so far (which is cool, calm, smirky..   but calm.)

There's no way am I ruling out that he is possibly an ancient elf   still holding onto this idea of yours. If it turns out that he has been frozen in protection during the Athulan's demise, I'll go.."...I knew the person who predicted this." granted i'll say this after I throw my controller on the ground like a football. cough. and yeah it sounds far fetched to some people but this guessing is just for fun xD

what if we save Solas from an event like this?  We saved his small family and community. and in the end, he travels with the Inquisitor to help enlighten them about the Fade rifts and what is inside of it.  He might possibly be what Varric was to Hawke, and what Alistair was to the warden. He'll inform the inquisitor, will never leave the Inquisitor's side no matter what, and will stick by them.

Ah..this reminds me of what Gaider said when people were flipping out when he was first revealed x] Solas just might be everyone's favorite.

On another note I just got finished playing another playthrough of DA2 with a Rogue (Archer) Female Hawke...I  thought beating Corypheus was going to be a bit difficult but it was much easier than when I beat him with my Male Mage Hawke?...+ being an Archer was fun!

This is a bit of a stretch, but in the trailer Cassandra remarks that the Inquisitor "walks out of the fade". What if the Inquisitor starts out the game in the fade, Solas encounters the Inquisitor there, and leads him/her out? Especially if he is considered a fade expert, according to the DA wiki. Might explain how the Inquisitor survived the blast but, then again, if Inquisitor doesn't remember how s/he survived the blast, perhaps my theory is already dashed. (Then again the Inquisitor could be lying, could have amnesia, could just be in disbelief... or could have dialogue options to tell Cassandra or not)

I apologize ahead of time for funky formatting. I'm still trying to figure out how this interface works. (I am also unsure about the etiquette on here and if it is best to do a @ (someone) or quote them and cut out the text when quoting multiples.)

Anyway, thank you. I had been looking at this forum for a short period of time, wishing to contribute to it, and finally brought myself to making an account. That and the fact that observing won't exactly allow me to get my ideas across or show my support for this character. (A mistake I made during the Mass Effect Trilogy) 

Haaahhh, I'm glad someone else did too. I was a bit worried such a thought was a bit out there. (Seems like you had been mulling over this a while considering your sudden whipping out of links.) Indeed, the first screenshot does have that green tone to it. I sure failed to notice that. Maybe because it lacked the hazy filter I was so accustomed to seeing in previous games. And, now that you've pointed it out, I can see a narrative linking the screenshots and the addition of characters to them. However, I do wonder about the outfit changes (seeing as Cassandra went from her default outfit to looks-like-pants-Solas-could-wear). Maybe the person in charge of that file simply put Cassandra in one of her alternate outfits. 

Nawwwwwww, don't worry about it, considering you won't be the only one eating their words. That and I'll probably go cry in a corner until an even better introduction happens. (Hopefully, if we find our theory dashed.)

That explains it. I guess I've done the same thing with other games; starting on the third and never playing the ones before or starting on the second and then going back to play the first.

Yeaahhh buddy, it's certainly a stab in the dark, but I guess we'll find out sooner or later.

I love the idea of Solas rescuing us out of the Fade at the beginning of the game! That makes quite a lot of sense after seeing all those screenshots of him with Varric and Cassandra, I think those three are going to form my main adventuring group anyway so that would be perfect I imagine his personaility as calm and very patient idd, but when you make him angry you're in for something, and that's where the spicy part of the scotch bonnet candy comes from maybe? I also cannot wait where the candy part comes in, maybe we'll catch him reading romance novels with Cass in the keep?
