Nerd Solas confirmed.
This isn't true, right? About Galecki, It's just a left field rumor because of the German voice actor. Unless Im missing a confirmation or something?

@ Dragondreamer:
Yooooo thanks for the insight. That's a pretty cool tidbit of information you got there.
Where on earth did you read that?
In-game codexes and the wiki, mostly. ![]()

Yeah, I think the most we could gather from that is the type of voice Solas probably has.

Maybe but that German voice actor had a pretty different voice. Plus it's probably pretty deep when he's not being intentionally nerdy.

Then we're back to simply waiting... ![]()
Ugh I want him to have a deep voice so badly, I want my inquisitor to melt in his presence when he's speaking. (only my inquisitor, not me ofcourse pff..) Do any of you have any ideas or preferences who you would want to voice him? Then we can atleast swoon in our imaginations... ![]()
A German accent for him sounds sexy to me, but that's a personal opinion. I know there are a lot of people who don't like the accent, thinking it sounds either funny or angry. However, I think it can be a very sexy accent with the right voice (not too deep, but maybe gravelly?).

Not sure! All I know is that I want his voice to be sharp and clever more than super deep and sexy. A Gideon Emery wouldn't really suit him, I don't think.
I wonder what accent he would have. THAT is really up in the air, considering we don't know his origins.
Edit: This makes me hope that they release voice actors (and maybe writers) with new companion reveals. That's not such a huge, secret piece of information and then we'd be even more satisfied! With Cass and Varric, we already knew. I don't think we know Vivienne's but we got to hear her voice briefly in the game-play demonstration.
What if he sounds british and speaks with a real posh accent? That would be hilarious
Yeah now that I'm trying to imagine him with Gideon Emery's voice I don't think that would fit very well, I hope they don't nerd it up too much though, I can't imagine him with a too high pitched voice either, but sharp and clever sounds like something that would fit him indeed.
I could imagine him sounding like Joel Johnstone (Overseer Teague Martin from Dishonored.) ![]()

Crazy speculation about Solas...
Don't know if anyone's brought it up already but here we go...
So you know how we barely know anything about elven history in DA? I always thought it was such a waste that bioware just never expanded on their history. But then I thought how could they? Magisters erased every sign of their civilization. Yes maybe you could find some artifact or ancient ruin here and their but a lot of things about their past would remain a mystery. And maybe that's alright but just like I said it felt like a waste to me. And it's not like bioware to do that. So I started to think if they wanted to do it and reveal some of the elven history, how could they make it happen and make it awesome? Then I remembered they already did that with the Protheans in ME. With Javik. Now I'm not exactly a fan of Javik but having a Prothean on the team felt pretty awesome. So I thought why wouldn't they just do that.
The problem is ancient elves started to lose there immortality after spending too much time around Shemlen (quick children). So if there was still an immortal ancient elf around he had to meet at least two conditions.
1) They should be an apostate.
It's really simple. All ancient elves had magic so if any of them was still around they should be a mage. And they can't just go to the circle becuase the whole Shemlen proximity problem.
2) They should avoid living in Shemlen populated areas.
Which means they should spend their life in the wilds. Hunting their own food, making their own clothes.
And then I saw the gameplay trailer and what Solas was wearing and I was like ![]()
Now I know I'm basing this pretty much on nothing but I think it would be really cool if Solas was actually an ancient immortal elf.
what do you think? Too crazy? ![]()
It's actually just unsubstantiated rumor that losing their immortality was a "contagious" effect. If they were once, we don't know why they stopped being so. My guess would be that it's actually more complicated than just sharing the same air with a human.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I have spent a lot of time on youtube trying to find the voice I'm thinking of to no avail. QQ
Yeah, even if they can't/don't want to give us the VA's name, PLEASE give us a teeny tiny sample
I think the voice they go with could reveal a lot about his character.
I don't have a specific person in mind, but maybe I'm in the minority by liking the "nerdy" voice idea; I've got to be the only woman on earth who didn't really enjoy Gideon Emery's voice at first. I like it now, but at first I thought it was way too deep.
I guess I like men with higher voices? And women with deeper voices. Somehow I think this is tied into my bisexuality.
As for accents, I'm not very picky. For some reason I've been imagining him with an American accent (like the city elves), but that's basically just my headcanon at this point.
Good lord, it takes FOREVER to type anything on my phone.
I love nerdy voices (lol not Steve Urkel levels though), I just hope it's not something that will put people up in arms again like his baldness. Not that I want to appease bald haters, I just don't want another wave of "Eww Solas" on the forums >.<
American is what I had in mind too. To frame my opinions on the voice subject, I'm American and speak "Hollywood English" (I live relatively close to Los Angeles/Hollywood). I enjoy British accents in fantasy settings, but varying accents can be great at conveying different messages. When I look at Solas' survivalist appearance (patched up pants, gear made from animal parts, backpack) I think of American colonists living off the land and fighting the British in guerrilla warfare, especially with the parallel of apostates fleeing the Circle and British colonists coming to America to escape religious persecution (though American colonists at that time were still just relocated Europeans, so they wouldn't sound like modern Americans). More simply, when I think of British accents I picture kings and queens, knights, nobles and peasants, ceremony and propriety, while (regardless of what modern America has become) an American accent feels rougher, more down-to-earth, awkwardly inappropriate in its straightforward simplicity, and conjures this image of someone who is unconcerned with the system of lords and ladies. American accents make a lot of sense for non-Dalish elves in my mind.
That is way more than I ever intended to say about accents, lol.
Edit: If he's an ancient elf though it's all up in the air. I'm sure there's a huge difference between Elven nobility and the city-elves ![]()

Your idea is pretty cool
So many exciting possibilities... Too crazy might be: Dany from Game of Thrones wears blue, has violet eyes, and is bald at one point therefore we can infer that Solas is the Father of Dragons in Thedas ![]()
I've always had trouble getting into elf lore in any fantasy universe, but after reading TME I'm really hoping we get to explore it more firsthand. The only elf culture I was interested in before was Drow. LotR elves just didn't draw me in at all.

Which German voice actor?
Solas is voiced by Leonard Hofstadter.
Sorry. But the german version of the game Solas gets the voice of Ozan Ünal (voice actor for Johnny Galecki)
Please the link: http://www.ozanuenal...oice.asp#spiele
I think its unlikey that Johnny Galecki is the english voice actor for Solas. But maybe?
Which German voice actor?
I think it's a reference to this post.

I guess if he wasn't Dalish, it would depend on where he was from. Did the Ferelden city elves sound Ferelden?
And yeah, for some people I think having a sexy voice would be Solas's only saving grace unfortunately.
It's a shame we never really got to know much about the elven lore in the games but I always loved the little elven sentences they used in the dalish origin, like being called lethallan, or the andaran atish'an greetings. IF it turns out that Solas is an ancient elf I really want him to speak Elvish to us, like the full language, not just a few lines. Maybe he can even teach us to speak it then, that would be so romantic... And you can make fun of everyone around you as they don't have a clue to what you're saying ![]()

I would melt. If he's a romance option, just imagine the scene of waking up next to Solas after your first night together and hearing "Good morning, beautiful" in elvish
I think I need to go watch some sappy romantic comedies now...
I bet Solas would be a sweetheart in a romance! He's the outdoorsy type so he'd probably go collect flowers for you. Maybe during the night because it doesn't seem like he ever sleeps ![]()
You're killing me, ermagherd. If he isn't an LI I'm so using this idea in a fanficI bet Solas would be a sweetheart in a romance! He's the outdoorsy type so he'd probably go collect flowers for you. Maybe during the night because it doesn't seem like he ever sleeps

I probably will eventually, especially if he isn't a LI!
Gosh I haven't written fanfic in forever. Solas shall be my inspiration! Once we actually know more about him, of course ![]()
