Ok, simple theory about Solas' fur wrap.  Fur is actually one of the oldest and most primitive forms of armor and he rest of his outfit looks pretty ragged, scavenged, and possibly even homemade, so a thick fur might be the only protection he can get his hands on.  It makes sense to me if you look at its placement.  The fur is wrapped around his upper arms and shoulder like a pauldron protecting his right side, which is his staff arm and the side of his body that is forwardmost in one of his combat shots.  I mean, fur isn't very effective but it could soften the blow of some attacks.  Images in spoiler tags.

Don't really have a groundbreaking analysis to share. It's more of a 'lookie what I found'. (Though, I think you were discussing Fereldan clothing before in this thread, shortly before I joined.)

We joked that Vivienne will be pining after Solas because she secretly has a fetish for people who dress incredibly unfashionably. He's like her nightmare and her dream combined

I have a yucky feeling Solas might be one of the characters they choose not to reveal in a Follower Friday.  He seems like he'll be deeply involved in the plot and has a potentially spoilerific past, so... bleh.  Also, where would our info be coming from?  Varric, Cassandra and Vivienne have lived in the public eye and have been around people who can recount their tales, but I get the feeling Solas has lived privately for quite some time so who would there be to share his story?  I guess if he's an escaped Circle mage or wayward Dalish we could possibly get a little info from those sources, but they might just leave him a mysterious figure to be explored in game.

 

If not Solas, I hope the male and female companions Mr. Hulegaard was trying to decide between for FF are DHMG and Sera.  Since we already know two of the ladies, hopefully he picks DHMG.  Because it'd be unfair if we saw all the ladies but not the men, not just because he's hot.  Definitely not

If he really is so important to the plot, and if some of the theories we've had are true, I can imagine them holding off on revealing him. I hope that's not the case!

Someone said something about a delay and them working on something but I'm not sure how much we should raise expectations for that. I would expect to see a new companion next month or not at all.

My theory about Solas/Felassan

If Felassan is an ancient elf and a somniari, I doubt he could be killed in the fade just like that. What if killing him in the fade just took away his immortality? And then he could've taken a new name. Although that's assuming he was immortal in the first place, I don't know if the  quickening would have affected him... Sorry if someone has brought up this already in this thread, I didn't read the previous posts with spoilers because I only just finished the book.

 

My personal opinion:

I'm pretty convinced that Felassan is both an ancient elf and immortal.

 

Exhibit A: "Take the richest district in Val Royeaux, and add the magic that was part of our everyday life. Every statue fountain could speak through the water that poured from her mouth. Every column glowed with runes the fools in Tevinter copied by rote like children tracing letters. When night fell, the roads were lit by stones like these, bright enough to find your way safely, but soft enough that you could still see the stars." 

 

The above is his account of old Arlathan. While there is the possibility that he could be entirely bluffing, the information seems too precise.He mostly comes across as carefree and speaks light of most situations he comes across, yet the way he speaks here is clearly passionate, almost at odds to what we know of his character.

 

Exhibit B: "I’m listening, Slow Arrow," said the demon. "What could you possibly do that you and I have not seen a hundred times before while the sweaty mortals lusted and grappled and bled their lives away.”

 

^This speaks for itself. At that point I considered it the final nail in the coffin on the "is Felassan immortal" debate.

If she was a female Inquisitor voice that would be just pie! Though I highly doubt it. She might be voicing an important NPC, though. 

If she voiced a female Inquisitor I think I would scream at the top of my lungs, do a happy dance, and then cry happy tears. (As much as I don't want to admit I'd do that, I probably will. Unless I'm in a very public space.) The headcannon that I never I knew I wanted for my fem!Qun!Inquisitor would come to fruition.

I don't see it as too far-fetched. Other than Game of Thrones, what have you seen her in? In other words, while she is growing in popularity, I don't believe she's too prominent of an actress not to be the lady Inquisitor voice. If she wasn't it would probably be for... I don't know... aesthetic reasons or just her choice. Then again, it sounds like she has only had one session thus far. Taking that into consideration, I'm assuming that's not nearly enough time for recording a major role.

That's what I'm afraid of. She's a tall woman and she sounds tall. (Which is the worst possible way of describing it. It's deep... kind of like she has a cold. I don't know it's just deep. Echo-y?) Which could work for the humans and qunari, but dwarves and elves? Don't get me wrong, I'm totally cool with how she sounds, but I imagine it would be easier to sell a higher pitched and therefore more youthful sounding character. Anyway, I'm not holding my breath on this one, I'm just glad someone else thinks it would be AWESOME.

I don't know that we know enough about qunari to assume that they all have the same accent. Tal-Vashoth, Vashoth, she could have been born anywhere.

Hm.  Late to the party here, but those aren't knee-pads Solas is wearing.  Look closely, and you'd notice they appear to be some kind of dull metal.  Maybe tarnished bronze.  He's wearing metal greaves.

 

Didn't the developers say we'll be able to equip any kind of armor on any character, but it will look different depending who is wearing it?  So in that case, we could potentially equip Solas with heavy plate, as long as he meets the stat requirements.  Wonder how he would look in heavy plate...?

Even if he's not an LI I will go out of my way to ensure his...assets... on are display as much as possible

 

But damn, I'd be very interested in seeing Solas in plate just to see how they'd infuse it with his "style."  I also have a *thing* for lithe men in heavy armor.
