Whoa, this is giving me ideas. But wait, I swear I heard somewhere that Solas was "awkward"? Awkward and Han just don't mix. Gah, I really wish we knew what his personality was going to be like. For almost all of the other companions we have some sort of hint, but Solas is still so mysterious.

 

Solas/Solos/Solo means "alone/unique/solitary/single" in Spanish 

 

I hope he is no longer alone.

Saying you prefer a hair colour isn't the same as saying someone is ugly because they're bald (which is what happened early in this thread). Nobody said Solas would be ugly as a blonde. They just stated their preferences. 

 

I think what people were complaining about was the lack of dark-haired men in the DA games.

 

FYI, I'm a natural blonde. And I've been known to appreciate redheads. But I like a nice dark-haired man and will instantly not like said dark-haired man if he turns out to be an ***hat. We've got nothing to go on regarding Solas' personality. What difference does it make if people dislike the colour of his hair? He could be a prince among boys, or a huge whiny pain in the butt. Either way, his hair colour wont matter to anyone.

Going to respond to this now that I've had some rest/time to be less irritated.

 

I totally get the dark hair preference--up through college, dark hair was a preference of my own, but over the last few years I've come to decide that hair color really isn't a big factor to me like I once thought.  And there's nothing inherently wrong with a preference, either, so don't think I'm criticizing preferences.  But at the same time anyone who says "ewww blond" or "ewwww red" is not any better than the people who think Solas is a hideous monster because the devs made him bald.  Again, I got that impression and I agree in hindsight that I read things wrong.  So I apologize for that.

 

It's kind of a personal issue to me since I'm a redhead.  Most men do not find me attractive, whatever the media and other people may tell you about red hair and how they feel about it.  And then there was all the bullying I dealt with throughout school.  And the random strangers who have touched my hair without permission (I don't care how pretty some stranger's hair looks to you, do not do that.  If you simply must touch, ask first.  Better yet, just toss out the compliment and don't even think about touching.).  For men it is far, far worse.  So yes, I got defensive--even though Solas is a fictional character, and hairless and stubble-free in my opinion, from what I can see, there's absolutely nothing wrong with the developers deciding to make him blond or a redhead or dark-haired or etc. for reasons of their own.  Not because some of us might find dark hair sexier.

 

Edit:  I say it's worse for men.  I'm a woman so I can't speak for the redhaired men out there, but I've heard enough that I don't doubt the truth of it.

OK. I have a better understanding of why you felt that way now, and for what it's worth I'm sorry if you were hurt. I'm also sorry if I came across as angry, that is very rarely my intention, though I am aware the way I speak sometimes sounds a touch pointed. I did feel a little thrown by how seriously you were taking it, but I can see how the difficulty of emphasising tone in text played a part as well as your past experiences. I personally don't place much importance on hair outside of having preference (which ultimately means little to me), so for me it was all in good fun. I can't speak for the others, but I thought that overall there was no substance to the conversation other than the novelty of having something to talk about that we hadn't talked about yet. And I doubt the colour of Solas' hair (if he has any) would change how people feel about him. 

 

Anyway, I hope that made sense. I was right about to go to bed, but wanted to say something to you before I did. I hope you have a less taxing day, and I hope everyone posts lots of interesting Solas chatter in here while I am off drooling into my pillow.

I think, that a lot of criticism about Solas is becouse a lot of fans here talking about him as a potential LI and that's why so many anti-Solas ppl talks about his baldness. I think that refuse to knows certain NPC in game becouse his appearance only is a stupid thing, but from other hand, if we are talking about Solas as an LI his appearance play a big role. For me personaly, there's no male companion physically attractive enough to become my PC LI. But it doesn't mean I don't want to take them to my party and knows theirs stories etc. I would be happy to explore others interactions with companions, travel with them and knowing them better. Of course I know that I will not like all of them, but for sure it will be not becouse of baldness or others trival things.

What the---SO MUCH GOOD ART HAPPENED WHILE I WAS ASLEEP!  Also, much talent for making hot m!Hawkes. Mine looked a lot like Saemus, dark spiky hair, ice blue eyes, clean shaven. And he got with Isabella, because Isabella is awesome. 

 

Totally on topic!   Mine lost some quality when resizing, but here's my m!Hawke.  He makes cutscenes more exciting

 

Ok, so this question is going to sound really raunchy, but it's not >.<  If Solas and femQuisitor were getting romantic, which one would be pushed against the wall?  I guess you could replace that with who'd be on top during horizontal kissing.  This is a purely academic question btw   for future works, you know!

 

Edit: and about the gaming PC Banx, I understand what you mean.  Consoles are so nice because you have very little to worry about, and trying to install my physical copy on PC only to be directed to a download is pretty much the bane of my gaming existence

Hooray for future works! I really can't wait to see what sort of personality Solas DOES have.  I'm fine either way, but looking forward to seeing what the "spicy" aspect of his personality is all about.    

 

Seeing how much better Origins and DA2 look on PC had me seriously considering switching, but I don't think my sad computer could handle them properly, and then there was importing saves...but I've got a PS4 now, so I should be all set.

Solas would probably be a bit nervous, coy and awkward (because of them making a move on him, he might crack a joke or egg on the Inquisitor not believing that they'll follow through with their flirting) then be pushed against the wall by the Inquisitor rendering them a bit stunned.

Then, I think, that his spicyness would kick in and he'd.. erm.. end up on top. 

I mean, those thighs should see use.
