Yeah, that's my running theory. That whatever Vivienne is, he isn't. We know he's about the farthest damned thing from stylish, judging from his vest and tight pants. I still think he's awesomesauce though.

Yeah I get the feeling that whoever he is, Vivienne is not going to be a fan of his. Though I could be 100% wrong and be looking back at this reply to this thread a year from now and laughing.

Well that does seem to be the... Archetype of Mage Companions, that they have different views. Morrigan and Wynne obviously. Anders and Merrill, while both in favour of Mage freedom, had different perspectives on Magic itself.

People in this thread had a hard enough time accepting Solas's baldness.
How will they learn to accept his baldness and his penchant for wearing long johns into the thick of battle?
Vivienne must have seen his outfit and passed out right then and there in horror!

I've always like the look of bald elves in the DA games and art. It seems...I don't know, sophisticated for them.

Honestly I'm not even lying, I think I hate it so much because they remind me of my father ie he has a small head, he's bald, and my mom and I used to say he had mini elf ears
and
well, I think it's obvious I'm a girl with absent daddy issues lol.

You need to go listen to some good metal/industrial/dark wave music until you smile, girl.
Besides, you were in the Twitter thread...Iron Bull/Sexyback needs his own thread. Get to it!
That ought to clear your head of bald creepy men. ![]()

Translation of the caption - still think it is better to wait, instead of jumping to conclusions. Can we stop judging by appearances and focus on a character's abilities now please?
Elves of magier ( can't get translated) Solas belonged to the two again revealed companions

Vivienne strikes me as too picky to sleep with much of anyone. A few have speculated that her implied nature might mean she's not going to be a LI. As far as Solas goes, I wouldn't be surprised if he was one. BioWare traditions being what they are, I'm pretty certain of a male elf LI. Since it looks like he's the only elf male in our party, he'll probably be it.
I do agree that Solas and Vivienne are going to clash over the whole Circle collapse issue. He still strikes me as Dalish, either an exile or just never got the writing for some reason. I think he'll be our anti-Circle foil to Vivienne.
Another theory/fun bit of head cannon: He was Dalish, then caught near Tevinter when he was young and taken from his clan. Raised in the Tevinter Circle, he has a unique perspective on mages as well as elves in Thedas. Hence his mix of human styled clothing and lack of tattoos. I'm sure someone like that might feel differently about the White Divine's stances on mages. ![]()
@Jack: Fair enough. I'm taking Gaider's advice from earlier and waiting until more is released in my perspective language first before I judge too heavily. I think he's an elemental mage, but then again, my theory I've had that we're going to have a Dalish healer might be true as well. I really wish I could see some stellar Dalish mage abilities, stuff that really ties into the lore. Perhaps even like summoning the trees cut-scene power that Velanna displayed. That's if my second idea isn't true. ![]()

Expected this from the beginning. Did not understand this whole "Dorian is the bald elf mage" hype that dragged on for like half a year
Neither did I.

"Magier" means mage or magician. The caption can be translated as: "The elven mage Solas is one of the two newly revealed companions."

Wan´t Feynriel the only Dreamer born the last to decades? So Solas might have been hiding somewhere clever if he is a dreamer.
Still hoping for hair though. I must confess I find him slightly less interesting. I was hoping for a Tevinter mage. But DA2 stated that Feynriel had to go to Tevinter to train, so iif Solas is a Dreamer he might be a magister afterall.
Who are the other revealed character?

Yep - I just woke up and read the news, sorry it took a while!

That's a great point and it was pointed out in the Companion Reveal thread. Let me dig up the quote that Eluvianix used.
Just noticed this from the Wiki, Solas is also a place. From the codex entry, The Box of Screaming
From there, he said, I could find my way to Solas or Perivantium. He offered to give me the waterskin if I agreed to take three things from him: a glowing crystalline shard, a bronze sphere, and an iron-bound box with no hinges.
Solas, by the way, is a city on the border of Tevinter and Nevarra. ![]()
I know it's total head cannon, but I'm liking my "Dalish elf raised in the Tevinter Circle" idea more and more.
