Neverwinter nights 2 huh?

I loved the characters in that game. xD even when they didn't like each other i still liked them all. also that fire girl.. I forget her name, but elsa from frozen reminded me of her.

If Solas is like Sand from Neverwinter nights then yiissss ;w; I've been waiting for a reincarnate of that elf ;__; ;w;

I loved almost all the cast of that game. But Sand was the one I liked more.

And yeah... how is Solas taller than DHMG (if that's how it goes)? That is one tall elf!

Not sure about the shipping until I know of their personalities and how they interact. I certainly was one of those people who was like 'the elves in DA2 will get along, right? Elf party!' and then Merrill and Fenris were never in the same party because of all their bickering...

As for Vivienne's food, I think it's describing her. Like she's the bird. Not that she would treat others like so. She seems like someone who might have initially been used as a figurehead, but perhaps rose to the challenge and eventually became a strong leader on her own. Or... I don't know... maybe she's still being used. I don't want to think of it that way, but it's plausible.

I'm getting the impression that Solas' comparison to Scotch Bonnet pepper candy means that he's generally sweet and unassuming but occasionally he says/does something that begs the question "Where the hell did that come from?"

I really want to like Solas, but I am having trouble, it isnt the baldness since I actually like that on Iron Bull, Vivienne and liked it on Jack. He just seems so...grim? And kinda dull since his outfits seem the most low key. What makes you guys so into him and maybe it will be catchingXD

Maybe he just has a gloomy resting face   Having a personality like hot pepper candy doesn't really sound like someone who is grim. And don't worry about not being into him yet. After all, we barely know anything about the guy. We're just mildly crazy in these character threads at the moment and we're into what little slices of personality we do know and the possibilities based on his being a Fade expert. And we dig his horrible fashion sense and baldness and thinking about how he'll interact with other characters.

I guess for most of the new companions, we really only have what they look like. Everything else is pure imagination. For me, Solas has an interesting face and I personally love the stoicism in contrast to the openness of Mustached Mage.  Knowing Bioware writers and past characters, I fully expect interesting stories and personalities.

 

I love his look. His expressions, in what we see, promise much depth and well, possibility. I look forward to hearing his voice, not just the acting but in how he speaks and reacts to the world around him. 

 

Until we are given more, everything and anything is possible. There is something very appealing about that.

He's smirking in both of his concept arts. Si he doesn't really seem grim.

So far we've only seen him in battle screenshots, and the characters always have that neutral expression unless they're in a cutscene.  So the most we have as far as Solas expressions are from the concept art, and yeah, he doesn't seem grim.  In the war room picture he looks smirky (I always loved this expression here) and in the art with the dwarven Inquisitor he has a kindly look.

still, I like his face. and, as strange as it sound, his clothing style. it made him different from all the others companions. he is not as refined as the other mages. And I think is the first mage with pants and without a tunic or long robes on that I had seen. Is little, but made him interesting in my eyes.

He seems mature, and intelligent. He is quite different from the Elven companion we had in the past. he is not anime looking as Fenris was (with his silver hair and pointy armor) but not a classic Dalish mage as Merrill or Velanna.

He does seem more like a Dalish Mage then Merrill or Velanna. Both seemed to be outsiders and that was really confusing and lacked the whole picture. Velanna hated humans more than most dalish, and Merrill was considered so undalish they ran at the sight of her.

One reason I really want to like Solas as he seems like the first legitimate representation of the Dalish outside the Dalish origins

The lack of vallaslin makes me very much doubt that Solas is Dalish...  It's not impossible, but just seems unlikely.  But it could be that he's an ex-Circle elf that ran away to the Dalish.

 

One of the things that interests me about him though is that he's basically a combination of the factions I'm most interested in, the elves and the mages.  I'm curious to see who he personally aligns himself with (if anyone... Han Solas   ).

In regards to the bolded part, I actually considered this theory for a bit. He too reminded me of her student that ran from the circle, that we meet in the Brecillian Forest (damn....forgot his name. ).

Feynriel and Dreamer/Somniari, yup that's a popular theory.  I'm not sure I think he is, but it would be cool if he was. 

 

It certainly fits in with the Fade expert thing.

My Dalish warden didn't have vallaslin...

 

Mostly because I didn't know that was part of the lore during character creation, but hey....there's at least one Dalish elf running around my Thedas without face tattoos.

Same thing happened to my sister's Dalish Warden.     I said it's not impossible...just unlikely.  Maybe Solas has very sensitive skin.  Or maybe he's like Pol or Aneirin.

I think so.  I think it's implied that modern elves are as short as they are due to malnutrition, as most city elves are impoverished, and were slaves prior to that for millennia.  Even a Dalish from multiple generations of Dalish would have genetic shortness due to so many centuries of malnutrition to overcome.

There's an ancient elven ruin in TME that suggests that ancient elves were very tall.  The steps in the ruins appeared to be made for people with a stride longer than humans.  Felassan makes a crack about their ancestors being much taller, but Briala doesn't know if he's serious or not.  So it's kinda implied but not flat out confirmed.  They come across ancient elf corpses but there's never any mention of them looking unusual in size.

 

Whether or not this impacts the theory about Solas being an ancient elf...  I guess it depends.

I'm sure Viv will be a VERY interesting character. She has such a repulsive food to define her but thus far we have never had an entirely horrid companion with no depth or likability whatsoever. I can't wait to learn more about her!

 

Also, if there is a video at E3 I REALLY hope Solas is in it! I want to hear his vooooooice. We've seen him move for like two seconds but that isn't nearly enough 

 

I'm really, really, REALLY excited for E3.  The devs seem to be too, so I think we're going to get a lot to talk about.  And hopefully more fodder for fan art and fics!  I'd love to write something, but I don't feel like I can without ever having heard him say a word.

 THIS.  Gideon Emery could read me takeout menus all day and I'd just sit there drooling.  And not over the food.    Solas needs a hot voice.

All these revelations about the ancient elves so far makes me even more curious about them...And I really like the theory of Solas somehow being one,it would be fascinating.
