IMO Solas has had plenty of face time already. Much more than several of the others, so...
yep---he had much more visibility than most of the others characters (well, with Varric, Cassandra and Vivienne) I hope it mean he will be quite relevant to the plot...
just out of curiosity...
how where presented/revealed/talked about the character of DA2? at the time I didn't had internet at home... 
I don't have a bloody clue as to what he's holding, that stupid satchel is in the way darn it.. I thought that maybe he was pointing at something? Well I guess it's only going to be harder Carpool, because there's still an Inquisitor edition to be released, and who knows what's in there
I'm a sucker for art too, but I refuse to put down that much money even for a collectors edition with that much stuff, it's just too much for me to spend.
Or he's pulling the grain/tall-grass/not sure away. But there is certainly something poking out from behind his head. It's darker in color and easier to see if you open the picture in another tab and magnetize it.
Now that I think about it, I think we Solas aficionados are pretty lucky. Solas has been in a lot of screen-shots or artwork leaks (such as the tarot cards). ((Annnddd Sandal 2.0 has beaten me to the punch in posting this)) We might not get romance dialogue updates, like the Cullenites, or character scene like Cassandra and/or Varric, but I think we're quite fortunate for a character that, at this point in time, doesn't seem all too popular. (At least on the tumblr side of things) Then again, I compare it to like... the DHMG fans who have had like... one screenshot thus far and they're still chatting about him. (You go DHMG thread, you go!)
I think... I think going to cross my fingers and hope, for now, that if they release another edition it will have the tarot cards. Considering their size, maybe they can be released in a similar fashion as the collectors edition of Mass Effect 3. I feel nervous waiting, but I believe it might be the best course of action at this time. Haaahhh the more I think about it the more I realize how dumb I'd have to be, in my current financial state, to drop that much on a video game. But I have the money right now and haven't splurged on anything that wasn't school related since I made my last cosplay so...

Haaaahahha, I saw that Ice King gif earlier and was like 'yo adventure time' and then I was like 'yo his eyebrows are moving at super-sonic speed', but I didn't want to quote you just to say that. I certainly take that from the lumpy space princess because it seems less bad and my family won't frown upon it.

Ugh, this Collectors edition is going to kill me. It's like.... I don't NEED any of the other items but I really WANT those tarot cards. Kind of like how I bought the Collectors edition of Skyrim, despite already owning the game, because of that artbook.
It's like... the money I save could be put towards a Cassandra cosplay I want to do, but those cards. Artbooks and exclusive art are always my downfall.
That does look like a scythe and I really don't like the implications of that Solas = Falon'din = Death? QQ
I could probably handle not seeing any more Solas screenshots for a month or two if we got little snippet of his voice 
Edit: And you should totally do the Cass cosplay! I'm working on one now and my budget is really small so I could offer all sorts of money saving tips 
I never have much money for costumes but super cheap materials can look really expensive too

Edit: I don't know how things went down with DA2 either, though I think I read something about it being a lot more friendlier now with DA:I.

Perhaps but not necessarily in a bad way(I hope so at least!! ),Falon Din is also the god of fortune and the one known to guide the dead in the Fade which indicates that he knows the Fade well.
Maybe that's the symbolism,that pretty much like Falon'din, Solas is someone who can guide the inquisitor in/about the fade.
I think Solas has gotten a lot more visual coverage than quite a few other companions. It is getting old that Cassandra is the main feature of literally everything, though.
Better Cassandra than Standard White Male Human Inquisitor, tbh. If they're deliberately obscuring some of the companions to keep the storyline from being spoiled, Cassandra is fairly safe, considering she's a direct bridge to DA2 and the mere fact that she has a place in the narrative doesn't really give anything away, nor does it raise a ton of questions. From a marketing perspective, it makes sense (and, again, I'd rather a female companion get it than run into another Sheploo/Garrett evvvvverything situation).
Although I have to admit, it's getting a bit maddening that they keep showing us Solas, but they refuse to provide any more information. 
I just want to see more variety in the companion images and trailers. Cassandra is getting super old, to me. It doesn't help that she grated on me, to begin with. I mean, we already know a lot about Varric and Vivienne, why not them? Or literally anyone else for a change.

I always jump to the worst conclusions, which is not without reason, taking into consideration what usually happens to my favorite characters in Bioware games. So all I can think of is:

And awww yeah! Cassandra cosplayers! Alllllllright! I would totally love some money saving tips! You can shoot me a message here or at the tumbles. (Though I was looking at one of her alternate outfits, but I think it's similar to her character kit outfit, just black.)
A voice clip would be nice. To be honest, I'm afraid we'll just get one more thing before switching out for DHMG. Vivienne had a good run, now we have Solas, and at some point soon it'll be time to let DHMG shine.

IB is looking pretty finished in the latest war room scene.
Here's hoping he will be the warrior in the next outdoor screenshot instead of Cass. But I wants GW and I wants a name for him!
And hopefully DHMG replaces Solas in the next screenie as the party mage.

Yeah, it definitely seems like Iron Bull is getting a lot more features recently. Hopefully they do shuffle through everyone. I think Cassandra, Varric and Vivienne could stand to be phased out of the focus, since we know the most about them. Solas at least has more mystery to his background.
Solas is in the "spotlight" now because they decided to let him slip in alongside Viv and Cass and Varric around a couple weeks ago (really not all that long ago at all, even if it might seem like it with all of this waiting). They haven't chosen to do so with other characters yet and it's not by accident. I'd say that the next character we'll start seeing more of is Iron Bull, since they've slowly started to slide him into more things. It seems systematic 
DHMG will come in time, though I wouldn't expect it very soon unless they're going to throw all the characters at us during whatever new method of follower reveal they came up with.

I just think she has an important part to play in establishing the plot as we know it, and once we start getting more details about the game beyond the initial premise, we'll get more information about other companions and we'll start seeing them in trailers and preview art.
And what is going on with Follower Fridays anyway?
I heard it was being revamped, but honestly what is there to revamp? It's just a screenshot on day 1 and then some blurbs and another screen here or there the following week.
The only thing I can think of is that they might incorporate the companion reveals into the official website to increase traffic there.

Varric has gotten the second most coverage, I'd say. The last trailer, to me, almost made the game seem like it was about Cassandra, though.
I hope focus does shift more as we go on. I can kind of get that they feel more comfortable releasing characters we already know first. I just hope now that we've seen all the companions, we'll start seeing different ones featured soon.
Hopefully when E3 gets here we will see a little more and know a little more about all of the companions.

Maybe we will get to hear them speak in a video at E3 but of course I'm not getting my hopes up too high...I'm just kinda ready for whatever they have planned that day! Hopefully it will be good!

If it's a scythe, it could just point to him being a Necromancer like we were guessing about a while ago. *shrugs*
They're tarot cards, so if that's a scythe, he's probably the Death card. From what we can see, I'd say he's either Death or the Magician.
So what would that mean if he is indeed the death card? I know nothing about tarot cards. A threat that needs to be nipped in the bud perhaps? 
Well, like I said in the DHMG thread, tarot cards are made to be vague so the "fortune teller" can convince the querent that basically any card that comes up applies to their life in some way. The meanings could easily be something we're not expecting. Generally, though, Death represents change. It's the end of something and the beginning of something else. It isn't really supposed to represent actual death, like it does in the movies. lol
I'm pretty sure it's death, there is also wheat on death cards. My mother is kind of into Tarot, so I might have to ask her if she can figure out the others. But here is an example of the death card with the wheat and scythe.
