If Solas turns out to be like Cicero, I may have to make a party almost entirely of mages. For awesome's sake.I do enjoy the necromancer theory and how someone (Brass_Buckles???) theorized it being out of necessity to make sure the dead don't bother him. However, I will certainly admit I'm terrified he'll end up like Quentin(DA2) or Cicero(Skyrim); insane and obsessing over a dead woman. I want to convince myself that it won't happen, considering it has been done so many times, but it's always something that lingers in the back of my mind. I'd be on the 'nope' train very quickly.

I'm not a great fan of the "necromancer theory", I must admit. I can't remember any positive necromancer character.
and usually those who use that kind of magic are tryng to bring back to life someone.
but...if he is tryng to bring back to life the softy fur thing he wear....hum....I can already sense very very naughty things from people... ![]()

While I'm not immediately put off by the idea of Solas being a necromancer, I also hope they wouldn't go with the played out "I'm trying to bring back my beloved dead _______" (unless it's a dead nug, that'd be fine with me). I'm sure there are plenty of reasonable explanations for why one might turn to necromancy >.> Anyway, it's not the necromancy itself that would bother me, but the motivations behind it.
Yeah, so long as he's not one of those necromancers, I'd welcome an interesting necromancer companion. I don't think we've had one of those since Xzar. He was easily one of my favorites in BG.

Also, if specializations from our Inquisitor matches the specializations of our companions, I'll feel like my character is less special... no pun intended.I'm not a great fan of the "necromancer theory", I must admit. I can't remember any positive necromancer character.

Necromancy is usually looked down upon, and I suppose even the Magisters have limits on what they're willing to tolerate.
Rift Mage might be limited to the Inquisitor. Solas might use his knowledge of the Fade to assist the Inquisitor in finding alternative uses for the glow hand.

OH MY GLOB. Bringing back a nug. Haaahhhhhh.... Yep yep, the motivations behind it. Though I'd be really humored if he was trying to bring animals back. Really REALLY humored. (and that's how we got Boggy)

OH MY GOODNESS. Well, I guess he was popular for one reason or another. (He got super hyped up for me and then I couldn't deal with his commentary.)

The Necro in Diablo 2 is a good guy. His job as necromancer is to assist in putting spirits to rest. The Necromancer Chronicles have the main character as a Necromancer whose job, again, is to put spirits to rest (the books are ok, typical high fantasy). There are other instances. In the DA universe I could see a mage taking up necromancy in order to better understand and combat demons in Thedas. Being able to summon a demon into a corpse probably makes it easier to separate the demon from the corpse as well.

Inquisitor: So what's the deal with your scarf?
Solas: Oh that's just Flats. He got on the wrong side of a wagon one day. I don't let him out that often, he doesn't like it very much what with being flat and all.

Inspired by recent Halamshiral info:
Solas> Inquisitor, we're going to attend a dance?
Inquisitor> Well, I'm going. Why?
Solas> Should I wear my silk pajamas, then, with the fur mantle, or should I wear the vest with the long johns?
Inquisitor> Solas... I'm sorry, but you're going to have to stay at camp.
Solas> But how will you look fashionable without me for contrast?
Inquisitor> You have a point. You DO make me look magnificent. And, they have elven servants...
Solas> Servants? No, I'm going to dance.
Inquisitor> Then you're going to wear something else.
Solas> Anything else would be uncomfortable. Besides, do I look like I've got that kind of coin?
Inquisitor> I repeat, there are elven servants. You could infiltrate...
Solas> What if I offered to be your dancing partner? Would that change your mind?
Inquisitor> Does this mean you want to stomp on my feet?
Solas> What, you don't think I can dance?
Inquisitor> I admit, I'd be surprised.
Solas> I'll take that as a challenge. Sera, Warden, Sister Nightingale? Some music please?
Inquisitor> ... Um.
Solas> Don't worry, I'll lead.
Inquisitor> But...

Felya, have you heard of the Abhorsen trilogy by Garth Nix?
I posted a thread about speculation on the tarot deck that comes with the inquizzy edition and it's fairly Solas-heavy. Nothing we haven't discussed in here most probably but I thought it might be of interest nonetheless. ![]()

I have heard about it. but sadly, is not easy to find in italian now.
If I can find the volumes in some stand or at the Libraccio (a group of store that sell used books) or are being reprinted, I'd like to buy it. Or I can always read them in english.
I'm going to read the thread. ![]()

*sees that the Solas is Nic Cage thing hasn't died*

Anyways, we need new infooooo! I'm so excited for the possibility of seeing more of Solas at E3. Do you guys think the new method of character reveals will begin at E3?

I want a more predictable, steady release of character info, but I kind of think we'll get it in big info dumps at conventions and such. The info dumps are nice because we get so much new material, but I like when smaller amounts are released more often so we don't get huge lulls of nothing in between.

Maybe they are holding on to the info till E3...I really do hope so we are running out of theories and speculation. ![]()

I agree. I preferred the Follower Friday method. If they wanted to make sure they revealed all characters before release, they could just shorten the time period between each character reveal. I much prefer steady info to big information dumps.

I like that too. I personally have a hard time when a ton of info comes out at once because I want to discuss it all but I get overwhelmed by fast moving threads. Character reveals could be really simple and non-spoilery if they gave maybe one full length and one close up picture, then 2-3 sentences about them. Plus, if we see more of the companions' outfits, maybe there will be a larger variety of DA costumes at conventions this summer ![]()
Edit: Or Mr. Gaider could pop in and make our day with a new tidbit of info, like when he told the DHMG thread about his green eyes ![]()

Well I guess we already know what Solas looks like so there's nothing to give!
Maybe we can ask what color Solas's hair would be if he wasn't bald ![]()

Yooooo I'm doing the grumble grumble too. Solas as Nic Cage getting more notes than original art? Something just ain't right there. And it's old news. I'm not upset at the comparison I'm just like 'Really? Really? You'd rather talk about and reblog how much he looks like Nicholas Cage (which was the subject of discussion some time ago) over appreciating original art?'
Anyway, yeah, I did like the trickle method of information released. But I think it's inevitable that a lot of information will be revealed at E3, especially if they have game demos.

What's more annoying, the 89897 comparisons to Nic Cage or the 89073 complaints about him being bald? ![]()

forgot to add earlier: thank you felya ![]()
I also forgot to elaborate for people who hadn't read it and were curious, in the Abhorsen trilogy you have a good necromancer who remedies the problem of dangerous undead raised by bad necromancers by sending them back to Death, and whose job it is to put the dead to rest
