"Oh good, its just dark green floating rocks in an endless void today. Much better than Incomprehensible Geometry Tuesday, that usually keeps me spasming on the floor while my mind tries to understand what's going on."

You literally make this thread more magical than it already is. Thank you for your existence :)

THIS, I totally see him coming up with a plan and working it out in the finest details and then mumbling "it should work anyway, in theory.." Ah, nerdy know-it-all Solas is the best Solas.. (well along with sassy snickering Solas ofcourse :D)

that's reminded me of Mordin on Horizon...

Jesus Christ, Bioware fans...

This made me laugh. Funny 'cause it's true.

Skyhold, the Inquisitor, Sera, Solas, and Varric step out of a fade rift

Varric: All this probably means that the kid shouldn't read adventure stories before bed.

Solas: Trashy romance novels.

Sera: How do you...do you creep in on my dreams?

Solas: Please. I watch everyone's dreams.

OK. That's.. creepy.

The study of the Fade is as old as mankind, but what has been learned? http://bit.ly/SR3lSS  #DAI

But how about that Fade huh? I dig it. I know it could have a 'skies the limit' design, but I believe some tend to forget it used to be an actual functioning space: The Golden City. Some of the parts look like abandoned cliff dwellings, there's even some floating hunks of rock that look like they have illuminated windows.

It seems you were right, CARPOOL.

I'm guessing this is the black city. I suppose there is someone/thing in there. Unless the Maker forgot to turn the lights off when he left.

I love it!  That doll looks so delicate and beautiful :)  I really like the proportions you used when it comes to the pile of the fur and the fabric's weave, it fits the size of the doll very well.  Is the coat linen?

Actually I just think that is part of someones dream (generic fade stuff), since we see lots of castles (mostly from the inside in DAO, but we are in the entrance of one in DA2), so I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that it is the Black City.

Nefla the doll is beautiful! (and is talking a girl that have always found dolls creepy... the only one I could tolerate was my mom's old, old dark skinned doll. I loved her dark brown eyes and hair.)

The fade seems very interesting. maybe this time the dream-like aspect will be given more by the architectures than by the texture and the light.  :)

I just hope we get tricked in the fade into thinking we're somewhere that's not the fade (the way all the Origins companions were but you couldn't see their dreams)

Just a thought, but the Fade location image does include a codex entry about an attempt by the Magisters to map the Fade. It's not possible given how the whole place is in constant flux but the Magisters did find the locations of the major demon lords and their domains.

If Solas had Dreamer powers and the Magister's knowledge of where the really nasty portions of the Fade were he could make sure that wherever the Inquisitor opened a rift was safe to enter by reshaping the other side.

I didn't jump to a conclusion. I think it's likely, but it was still a guess.

Edit: Uh. I just realised that came off as sounding a little antagonistic, but I didn't mean it that way. Oops.

You made him soooo damn sexy with that short haircut. Now I really willing to create 3d hair for him to all those who want more haired Solas.

Okay, there are few problems with creating 3d hair model.

First. Bioware use 3dmax or zbrush or something else? I don't know, may be anyone here on forum know?

Second. I have 0 ideas how to add such cosmetic mods in to game. It is frostbite engine, seem no one know if it will be possible to add anything in game.

Feels like this right now

Nefla, the doll is gorgeous!  I am in complete awe of the artists around here.

The new Fade pics are very cool, even though my immediate reaction was to want to start shooting spitballs at them because UGH THE FADE. I'm a console player, so I never get to skip it in Origins.  The music alone started to give me a twitch. My Inquisitor won't like it either, I'm sure.

Inquisitor: You know, I've been thinking.  It's really a better use of our resources if you just, you know...do this bit by yourself.

Solas: What?

Inquisitor: Well, you're a Fade expert, right?  And I'm more of a tavern finding, occasionally touching important things with my magic hand expert. It's not going to do me much good when I'm running around the same floating castle for the twentieth time, is it?

Solas: You...want to skip the Fade?

Inquisitor: Not skip, exactly. Outsource, or, um, bestow.  I'm bestowing the great responsibility of Fade-related adventuring on you.  Solas. My favorite Fade expert.

Solas: You mean your only Fade expert. Points for flattery, though.

Inquisitor: I can't skip the Fade?

Solas: You can't skip the Fade. But since I'm your favorite Fade expert, just think of how pleasant the interminable wandering through blighted dreamscapes will be! Lots of time for conversation while we're working up to that twentieth trip around the floating castle you mentioned.

Inquisitor: You're not helping.

Solas: Of course I am. I'm very helpful. In the Fade. Where you and I will be going shortly.

Inquisitor: *muttering* I hope you at least wear the tight long johns this time...

Solas: What was that?

Inquisitor: Nothing.

Can't go into the Fade without the Inquisitor, he/she is the party's supernatural garage door opener. Also if Dorian the ex-Magister is a party member I hope Solas at least makes some kind of comment if he comes into the Fade with us:

Solas: It might have taken a quarter of the Imperium's lyrium supply, the deaths of thousands of slaves, five blights, and an explosion that tore the fabric of reality asunder but you Dorian Pavus are the first Magister to physically enter the Fade.

Dorian: Thank-

Solas: -who wasn't turned into an eldritch abomination.

Dorian: Thank you Solas.

Solas: You're quite welcome. We'll have to get you a commemorative spoon or something.

You guys are so funny :D

I hope the fade in DA:I wont be like previous fades. I liked the DA:O fade the first few times but it was all about the puzzles and once you know the solutions it's a chore on replays. It was too lonely. I wish once you freed your companions they would adventure with you in the fade and have banter and there would be cutscenes and story stuff not just combat and puzzles. DA2 fade...it was just dumb. Just the Gallows with a filter, lots of combat, 2 optional and very easy barrel puzzles and the parts with Feynriel didn't make sense (how would he know what the first enchanter looked like if he went with the Dalish and vice versa?) also it was too short for my tastes like all DA2 quests.

I admit, I use the "Skip the Fade" mod. I originally played DAO and DA2 on the Xbox. Played through the fade on that console six times, and that was plenty. LOL! I didn't find the DA2 fade quest terribly interesting, but it was short, so I wasn't terribly bothered by it. Now that I play those games on the PC, "Skip the Fade" was the first mod I installed.

One thing I always found funny, is the use of that fuzzy-filtered effect......cuz 'dreams, man'. I have never had a dream where everything was "fuzzy/out of focus". At least, none that I personally remember. (not saying that others haven't: different people, different experiences.) I thought the Legacy DLC had a look to it, that would have worked well for The Fade. But, that is probably just tastes and preferences. *shrug* ;)

Oh!! And Solas....fade expert. Awesome guy. Can't wait to meet him. :D (just trying to keep everything relevant.)

How 'bout them long johns, eh?  I'm sad that I had to put my attempt at badass Solas fanart on hold until I get a few other things done :crying:

NOOOOOOOOO!!!! Well, I guess good art takes time and not just a rush in one day then huh? It'll make the surprise all the more sweeter when you suddenly post it and are like 'SURPRISE! I FINALLY FINISHED THAT BA PICTURE!'

Ah! I forgot you were working on that project. Awww look at that fur and whatnot. I like it! I think taking care to work on art in other mediums is important.

I would get a REAL KICK out of that. And then await all the companions giving their witty/ sassy banter about 'we're going into the fade with a theory based plan!?' I'm just really excited for the banter between the characters. I really love party banter. Oh Wynne and her bosom...

@ Banxey & Ghostmessiah202:

I was actually looking at an older picture, but low and behold it is a fade fortress! Could be the black city. Kind of underwhelming though. I would think the black city would be crawling with abominations. I kind of agree with ghosts theory about it being part of someone's dream and just constructed from the thoughts of, for example, the companions that accompany you.

It's kinda like walking in the Twilight zone lol...I have a love hate thing going on for the Fade, i admired how different the atmosphere  was (but not exactly the place I'd want to hang around for a long time)  but hated the puzzles and having to fight everything alone! Bleh took me almost all day to get through that section of the game when I first played it. :P

Hopefully BioWare will let us have our companions with us while there.  :)

The Fade and the Deep Roads and the Wending Woods made replays of DA:O torture. I played on console so I had to just grit my teeth and muscle through it.
