The Fade and the Deep Roads and the Wending Woods made replays of DA:O torture. I played on console so I had to just grit my teeth and muscle through it.

I agree and ugh I hated the deep roads I still do..I haven't downloaded any mods to pass the fade so I still go through it since I know now what to do and where to go when I am there. The Deep roads was the worst for me took me forever to get through there especially beating Branka, I had it on normal but dear GOD it felt as if I was on Nightmare mode or something lol

But the Deep Roads were so good. I really loved the sense of expansiveness they gave the world. It made me feel like I was in Moria or something lol.

Can't go into the Fade without the Inquisitor, he/she is the party's supernatural garage door opener. Also if Dorian the ex-Magister is a party member I hope Solas at least makes some kind of comment if he comes into the Fade with us:

Solas: It might have taken a quarter of the Imperium's lyrium supply, the deaths of thousands of slaves, five blights, and an explosion that tore the fabric of reality asunder but you Dorian Pavus are the first Magister to physically enter the Fade.

Dorian: Thank-

Solas: -who wasn't turned into an eldritch abomination.

Dorian: Thank you Solas.

Solas: You're quite welcome. We'll have to get you a commemorative spoon or something.

This is magical and awesome. I love it.

I think someone else thanked you for your existence earlier. I'm gonna second that.

The fear demon picture just totally got ruined because at first glance, I thought the demon covered his eyes with his hands and now it looks like it's crying like a little kid who can't have a cookie before dinner because mommy said so... Scary demons you say, ha! try to best my wacky imagination first!

Thanks. Want to know what a lungful of cereal feels like? Here's a clue: not pleasant.

Is it just me, or does it look like the demons just want a hug? Here is another.
Spoiler

Just to be clear, I'm not saying I would hug the crotchsmiler demon.

Hahaha

I keep picturing that nightmare thing scuttling around quickly on all fours when it moves. That would be delightfully horrific.

I loved the Fade the first few times I played DAO. In fact, I'd go as far as to say it was my favorite part in my first playthrough. However, it got very repetitive over several playthroughs. I would like it if there were multiple ways to solve Fade quests/puzzles in this game, because it would make the replay value so much better.

I plan to take Solas around every time I'm in the Fade this game. I bet he'll have all sorts of interesting facts and anecdotes.

Inquisitor: Solas, where do these things go when we kill them?

Solas: Well there's a few theories, but most scholars believe demons just return to the Fade.

Inquisitor: So we can't just send them to the Maker-damned Void?

Solas: With respect Inquisitor, we're already in the "Maker-damned Void".

Inquisitor: (sighs) Why can't we ever run into anything friendly in the Fade?

Solas: I once met a sloth demon who took the form of a sofa.

I'd kill for demons that would turn to items I find useful

Sorry, Banxey! Mostly!

So...we now have Peek-a-Boo, Crotchsmiler, and The Hugger...I know exactly what demon reveal this is leading up to:

Spoiler

It's probably a boss.  Also, if there's anything called The Felicitator, I'm out.

...except maybe not if they do a silly dance before they try to kill you...and the Crotchsmiler does a duet with itself...I might stick around for that...

Maybe the crotch-smiler does have a second mouth. Can you imagine dodging the head mouth only for it to take a bite out of your leg with it's other mouth? That would be terrifying.

Nightmare demon begs for a reference to Sebastian's belt:

Inquisitor: That thing's...you know has its own face!

Varric: I knew a guy with the same problem.

As for the designs that's some real H.R. Giger stuff they've got going on. Bloodletters of Khore, Screamers of Tzeench, and even Nurgle's Plaguebringers I can deal with. These make me think of how freaked out the first time I watched Alien as a kid (which admittedly wasn't the best idea at the time).

I didn't watch the original Alien until I was 16 and it still freaked me out.

Sebastian was my first thought too!

I think they've done an amazing job with the demons, really.  Very "We have such sights to show you." *shudder*

I can poke fun now, but when I'm playing I'll probably be doing what I did when I first saw what was waiting in the tower of Ishal, which went sort of like this: "What the...no no no no NO NO NO NONONONONONONO" as it headed right for me. And these are far scarier than an ogre.  I'm just glad I'll (hopefully) have my companions with me, because I don't like fighting things like this solo, especially when they're sneaking up on me in the dark.  It's why I don't play horror games. I'm basically a giant chicken.

Which is why I STILL can't watch Alien.

I'm incredibly jumpy. My partner hid behind the bathroom door and jumped out to scare me the other day, and it worked like a charm. Unfortunately for him, I jumped, shrieked and flailed, and managed to smack him in the face. Zombie movies are the worst for me. I don't understand how creatures that are supposed to be so slow and cumbersome are so capable of jumping out of nowhere

LOVE the Alien trilogy!  ^_^

I can watch scary movies but play horror games...No! Games like the Slender man, Dead Space or Silent Hill ...freaks me out, it's like "Game over Man!" ( people who have watched Aliens will get that lol)  :P

Horror games don't usually freak me out but those giant spiders, especially the extra-giant one during the Deep Roads Expedition in DA2 were pretty darn scary.

That one frightened the living daylights out of me. I squeaked a lot. Also in Kingdoms of Amalur when your character would be innocently trotting down the road and they'd suddenly dig themselves out from underneath you  :(

I've just written in another thread about how I nearly broke my 3DS when a 3D spider dropped down in front of me whilst I was playing Zelda. I just wanted the spider gone

Ugh, same!  Easy to scare, terrified of zombies.  They're the worst for me, I don't know why. They're awfully sneaky for being shambling corpses! I'd love to be able to watch The Walking Dead, but I'm reading the comics instead. It doesn't bother me much on the page, but the real-life visuals seriously freak me out.

The enormous spider was definitely freaky.  The worst for me has always been the ogres, though.  Maybe because they're so big? And they always look so excited to see you, with that bouncy not-quite-a-run they do.
