I'm a little confused by the more technical aspects of hair. Gaming mostly on Xbox has probably dulled my senses in regards to models and textures. I can see how Sera's hair isn't perfect, but aren't pics like this of Cass pretty good?
At first I was like
but then I realized: the literal ramen hair looks better than the DA2 hair wtf
Oh, I don't think anybody's upset that people have varying opinions on her hair, Nefla! I think Ispan was referring to some of the nastier "She's so ugly!" commentary elsewhere. Sera has been torn apart pretty thoroughly in a few threads this evening. And for me, I often feel like the female characters get shredded in a way that the male characters don't, as though their entire worth is determined by, say, their lips being just so. But that's all a different thing than simply liking or not liking her hair, so please don't think I was talking about you! BioWare is fond of making some odd hair at times, that's for sure. The DA2 hair choices were just...*shudder*
My bad, I didn't get around much today and all I saw was some hair discussion! I agree though, people totally go wacko over female character's appearance. Back on the old BSN people were actually saying they would kill Cassandra on sight because her jaw was more angular now and that apparently made her "ugly" and how there was not point in female characters existing if they weren't sex kittens, etc...
Thinking back on that kind of stuff really makes you realize how the BSN has improved a lot.
Yeah, even DHMG's hair is pretty terrible in the alternate angle of the group shot. Varric and Cass's hair look improved in the latest trailer so maybe there's hope for the rest of them? (they still don't look great but they look better).
I didn't really look at DHMG so I didn't notice. I hope the hair quality ends up matching the quality of everything else, but if we're gonna get jagged ends, plastic texture, and no depth, at least give us fashionable styles and no more Friar Tuck or sausage hair or that fishbowl shaped hair that's longer in the back and shorter in the front with the ugly too-short, too-thick blunt bangs that Leandra always seems to get stuck with on my playthroughs
