GUYS! Guys! I totally had a Solas dream last night!
I laughed because I've literally NEVER dreamed about a character or game BEFORE actually, you know, playing it. I blame too much DA yesterday for it (between all the E3 coverage and me continuing my re-read of "Asunder" right before bed doomed me, I am sure).
But it consisted of two parts. Part 1 took place in what looked like a mobile party camp, obviously out on the road/in the woods. My Inquisitor (who was apparently a human sword & shield warrior this time) and Solas were sitting side-by-side rather comfortably, their backs to one of the tents near the outer edge of the main campfire circle, the crackling flames providing a bit of muted light at that distance (it was a nighttime scene). I can't for the life of me remember what they were talking about, other than Solas had a tenor voice that was rather soft and gentle, might even call it refined. And I remember that my Quizzy was trying to drop hints that she *liked* Solas... you know, in that way, more than just friends... and he just was either ignoring it outright or completely not getting it.
It was a sweet, quiet little scene.
And apparently the calm before the storm.
Because then the dream suddenly changed to Part 2 and I went from a muted evening by the campfire to the next day in a raging, scary dragon fight!
I have no idea who the other two party members were... never saw or heard them, but that makes sense because my poor Quizzy had something very important to be fully focused on: the dragon had snatched Solas up in her mouth and my Quizzy was desperately trying to save him.
He was only partially caught, halfway in and halfway out of her mouth and I remember this fear and dread of "Oh, Maker, please don't let her bite down" because he'd have been completely bitten in two if she did. The last thing I remember is whoever one of the other, unknown party members was did something that caused the dragon to lower her head enough for my warrior Quizzy to jump up and grab the side of her mouth where Solas was trapped. And by "grab" I mean rammed her sword into the side of the dragon's muzzle to have a grip on the beast, shield thrown down to the ground to free up her other hand, and she's trying to pull Solas free before he either gets swallowed, chomped in half, or has his legs baked off should the dragon choose that moment to breathe fire...
AND THEN MY ALARM CLOCK GOES OFF
WHY
WHHHHHHHHHHHHYYYYY
I wanna know what happened. Did she save Solas? It was so heartbreaking hearing him scream to her for help, oh, Maker.
I'm totally doing that for maybe my second playthrough, though. Female human sword & shield warrior who either romances (or fails trying to romance the unromancable) Solas. Because there were a lot of feels in that dream, even underneath the uber-scary and intense dragon battle scene.
Also totally played on my protective instincts. Pretty much all my playthroughs, my character goes bonkers as soon as a dragon scoops up a party member in its mouth because the battle has just gone from "fight the dragon" to "OHMYGOD SAVE SO-AND-SO!!!" Also because I'm incredibly protective of my poor, squishy mages. Even though I know they're perfectly capable of looking after themselves and lobbing fireballs and such... but... but... you're not wearing armor and I am LET ME PROTECT YOU!!!!!
Dragon Age, what are you doing to me???
