Solas is still my first choice for my male elf Quizzy, but I've been long prepared that he won't be available for one reason or another.  Putting aside the possibility that he won't be a romance, I have my fingers crossed that Solas is bi or gay.  I have doubts that they'd have both elves be gay, but maybe he'd be bi?

I'm starting to think so too. If they really are doing more romances than they've ever done, it makes sense to have the majority of them bi and split it 2/4/2.  It would also have the added benefit of not causing the forums to be burned to the ground and the earth salted afterwards by furious forumites. 

 

I said the other day that there was no way a conventionally attractive female blonde elf would be f/f, so I'm glad you agree with me because I have been way​ off.

Not saying Solas has the biggest following ever, but most of the individuals who are interested in him want to romance him with a fem!Inquisitor. Not all, but most. I'd seem counterproductive to make him the male only romance. Then again, it seems more people want Dorian to be bi as opposed to male only. If it was between Cullen, Solas, and Dorian as romance options I think the most people would be appeased if Cullen was straight, Dorian was bi, and Solas was gay. But that's IF Solas is a love interest.

Personally, I'm beginning to wish he wasn't. (what blasphemy!) Haters would stop hatin' if he wasn't and the romance thread would stop passing him around like a hot potato. But I'll take anything at this point if he is romance able.

He mentioned during one of the demos that all romances are completely optional, nobody's being forced into anything, so I don't see why people would be like that. But you can never please everyone

Actually, now that I think about it, I just realized something... 
Remember when I brought that really ugly romance theory into this thread? Yanno, the one where I present a somewhat compelling argument and it had to do with a leaked survey picture? Well, I predicted Sera would be lesbian and uh... it came true. 

And uh... Solas wasn't included in that theory as a romance option at all...
um... ... ...

 

If you're correct, I'll be horribly upset, but then again Solas wasn't even in the survey so he's kind of a wild card where romance is concerned.

 

I thought he'd be bi, and so would Sera, but if Sera is a lesbian, it ups the chance of Solas being gay.  And while I wouldn't mind that, it might mean I'd back-burner my Dalish Inquisitor, who will want a nice elven man she can settle down with once all the Inquisition-ing is done, and instead play the highly tempting qunari as a lady.  Because she's awesome.  It seems to me that a lot of gay guys do not want to be "stuck with" Solas, though, so I'd actually feel sorry for them if he did turn out gay... Personally I'm holding out some hope he will be bisexual so everyone who wants a piece of that Solass can have it.

 

It wouldn't bother me at all. The only thing that would have bothered me would be if they'd made NPC romances the gay ones.

 

 

I'm starting to think they might have two bi LIs of either gender. Two advisors (not Leli) and two companions. Then one straight male/female and one gay male/female.

 

I think you could possibly be correct.  I am starting to form a sneaking suspicion that while we can't romance all of the companions, there will only be two we can't:  Varric and Cole.  And, well, Varric is still a possibility.  So that would mean two of our advisors, and seven or eight of our companions, are romance options.  While you could argue that seven leaves an uneven number, there may also be another unknown non-companion romance, or three bisexual characters rather than four.

 

But the downside is, of course, that if we can romance just about anyone, I'd expect the romances to be a lot less detailed.  Supposedly you get much the same content whether you romance or not.  That is actually a good thing.  You can get to know your companions without sleeping with them--excellent.  But it also makes me think that BioWare may be phasing out romance, even as they are expanding the number of companions available to us.  Still, having romance just be the icing on the cake of character interaction is a nice thought, and means I don't have to worry about replaying solely to get access to extra romance content.  if I do replay, it'll be to play as a different sort of Inquisitor, personalitywise.

At least Mordin let me down really easily. Some of them I was just like 'ouch, daaaannnggg'. Mordin was very kind.

I... don't take pride in making a lot of individuals upset (especially in my favorite thread of all the threads), due to the survey theory I've come up with. Really, I really like Solas thus far. I'd be sad to see my first choice in male romances is unavailable, once again. Aside from Sebastian (yes I actually liked him), most of the romance-able characters I prefer are female. The males that I can romance always end up so... egh for me.

I'm wondering what people think of my theory that maybe there are only one or two companions we cannot romance as some character or another.

 

It would mean Solas is available for someone, but as I hardly ever play males, I'm outta luck if he's gay.  My qunari, if I play a mage, might pursue Cullen for giggles.  Maybe I could have a mage-hating warrior to romance Dorian, but it's less likely if Dorian is male-only LI...

 

but seriously, I really hope Solas is a possibility.  Apart from Dorian I have little to no interest in any of the other companions/advisors.  And while I'm fine with a celibate playthrough, it's a bit more fun to have a romance along the way--gives your character that much more to fight for.

 I've been lurking the Solas thread shamelessly and I felt that I had to post something at least once so I wouldn't feel like such a creeper.  I really hope he's a bi option so everyone who wants him can have him. If I'm being completely honest as a straight female, I'm not that interested in Dorian or Cullen (crazy I know). I actually have no Idea why they don't appeal to me because they are aesthetically pleasing, so that's not the reason.  Anyway even if I can't have Solas for my canon fem quizzy I'll gladly be besties with him or try my first m/m romance. However, he seems to be more popular amongst women from my observations and I'm kind of curious as to why?

 

PS. bald is beautiful.
