I think we all know it's speculation....but I don't and I know I'm not the only one who wants to be twiddling my thumbs for the next 3 months worrying if Solas is going to be available for my lady inquisitor or not. I wish they would just tell us who is available to who and get it over with since they revealed that Sera is lesbian...but of course that probably won't happen. I for one have only interest in Solas and Dorian and if they are both unavailable for my female ....Ha well she's pretty much screwed!

When I play my female goes for men when I play a male he goes for the ladies that's how I play....but it feels as if my male isn't going to have a problem finding a lady he's interested in but my female ...yeah the opposite. D:<

I'll be upset if Solas isn't a LI but it isn't the end of the world. If Iron Bull is bi and Dorian gay, that's fine with me because Bull has edged out Dorian by quite a wide margin in my favor now. But Solas will be my one and only. If he's my Dragon Age Joker, I'll be heartbroken. I'm STILL bitter towards ME3 for the Joker romance thing (among many other things).

For now the only other (possible) LI I would be interested is Varric.

Dorian is quite good looking, nothing to say, and I wouldn't mind a romance with him if he is into ladyes. but he wouldn't be my first choice.

 

I'd like to hear Solas's voice. If he have a voice like Fenris...I think he would gain a lot of popularity...

For now the only other (possible) LI I would be interested is Varric.

I always tend to automatically discount Varric because the possibility of him being an LI seems so unlikely, but yeah...if Solas was gay/unavailable and Varric a LI, that would compensate A LOT 

 

I know all the speculation doesn't help, but I can't help wishing they'd just release all the LI info now.  I mean, did they not intend for Sera to be revealed? Is there some particular reason for them not releasing it? Not being able to romance who I want won't kill the game for me (heck, my canon warden romanced Alistair, but is a diehard pragmatist and arranged his marriage to Anora for political stability and then got spectacularly ditched by him at the Landsmeet after she recruited Loghain into the wardens, so...pretty much ended the game a single pringle ), but romances do mean a lot to me in bioware games and while that's probably pretty silly of me, I'm a softie and can't help it   I can just see my bb Solas being gay and my girl Cass being straight, and my ladyquiz being a sad panda.

 I've been lurking the Solas thread shamelessly and I felt that I had to post something at least once so I wouldn't feel like such a creeper.  I really hope he's a bi option so everyone who wants him can have him. If I'm being completely honest as a straight female, I'm not that interested in Dorian or Cullen (crazy I know). I actually have no Idea why they don't appeal to me because they are aesthetically pleasing, so that's not the reason.  Anyway even if I can't have Solas for my canon fem quizzy I'll gladly be besties with him or try my first m/m romance. However, he seems to be more popular amongst women from my observations and I'm kind of curious as to why?

 

PS. bald is beautiful.

First of all, welcome to the Solas Thread! 

 

As far as the why, I can only answer for myself, of course. And the funny answer about that is... I don't really quite know, actually. Especially since I'm drawn to personality more strongly than initial looks, and we don't have much of any personality knowledge yet to draw upon. And bald isn't usually something that generally attracts my interest in that manner.

 

But something about him appeals to me. I think the general look of his face - really a fan of the rather aquiline nose. And the bald look works for him, really, IMO. I also think two large, contributing factors are him being an elf and also a mage. My heart is pulled towards the downtrodden and the underdogs... and being both an elf and a mage in Thedas is certainly a double whammy of downtrodden underdog.

 

 

 

And it would be a shame if Solas is not an option, because why would you give him such a nice face, and tight clothing to show off his body, and then make him unavailable?  ... Oh right.  Fan tears.

 

 

 

And yet I am not sure why they'd make Solas a cutie with tight pants, and then not let us have him.

 

I'm thinking looks don't a love interest make. I mean, have you SEEN Varric's remake in this new engine? OMG, the hotness is almost deadly... but the general consensus is that he's likely not a love interest anyway, so... yeah. Dem tears.

I've been thinking, and meant to post this theory here for some time but I ended up posting it in the Romance Thread just now...

 

Remember back when we were discussing eyebrows and whether Solas had them?  Later screenshots, of course, revealed he does, and that they are rather pale colored.

 

Pale eyebrows tend to go with pale hair.  Pale hair is unusual even in Thedas (despite several blond and redheaded companions).  Pale hair stands out.  If you're an apostate trying to avoid detection, and you've got, say, red hair... it makes sense you'd shave it off because being bald (as a man anyway) is less noticeable than being a redhead.

I agree just to get it out of the way....they told us about Sera so tell us the rest please! But I know that's highly unlikely..or maybe they will surprise us soon and tell us ya never know with Bioware! :/

Edit:  That person is downright determined to ARGUE WITH me, because they're determined to like absolutely nothing about Solas, even going so far as to say he's totally unremarkable etc.--even though his face is pretty clearly distinctive, as is his clothing style.  I really don't understand why someone's so determined to hate a character they know almost nothing about.

Now I'm getting a little worried, with who exactly the LI's will be. If IB is to be a LI I hope he is just a fling. I'm too invested in Solas to give up now, if he is not an LI I can just head canon my inquisitor has a major crush but work is more important. I would be a little sad as my chosen romance options have coincidentally always been elves, I wanted to see if it will happen again

 

Lucky for me restricted orientations are a non issue as I can happily roleplay either gender, but that requires multiple playthroughs.....

 

EDIT:

Well we know armor gets tarnished after it's been worn a long time, if its still in the game of course.

Perhaps Solas could grow a little hair as time passes? 

Then the issue of Solas' 'baldness' becomes non-issue as he could opt to shave it or something.

 

We really need some info on him, i'm resorting to spouting nonsense

Brass, I suggest to ignore that person. Is the kind that think what she/he think, just because is similar to that of a good chunk of people, must be universally true. Even if you counter reasonably whith her/him will try to find every argument to invalidate yours.

 

By the way...there is some chance for new images or something about Solas? Is not that I don't like what we have seen until now...I'm more than happy, but a few good Solas news/pick would be the the sweet coronation of this E3...

Oh I did put them on ignore, because they were starting to get hostile and claim that I was being all down on them for disliking Solas... you're perfectly welcome to dislike him, but you're not perfectly welcome to argue against every positive thing I say about him, because frankly that's just being rude and argumentative.  I'm not a big fan of Iron Bull or Blackwall, but I can see why people do like them and you know what?  I'm happy for them.  I don't go around hating on them.  I don't like Morrigan all that much, but I can totally see why people do, and I don't go out of my way to post in threads about how horrible she is.  It's that kind of thing that I don't understand.  So you don't like something... and you therefore need to rain on the parade of others who do?  I really don't get it.  All I did was point out that, hey, some people DO like Solas and find him to be a very distinctive and interesting character.  And they acted like I was on the attack somehow... I wasn't.  But I felt like I was being attacked for having a differing opinion, and maybe also for *gasp* knowing more about said character than the other person.

 

Honestly... it's not even that big of a deal because he's a character, not a real person.  Hate on him all you like, but don't try to bash down the opinions of those who like him.  I guess you could say that goes both ways, I should not even offer up positives to counter people's negative opinions, but I can't help but think there's a difference between saying something positive to counter a negative attitude and saying something negative to counter a positive one...

 

I don't think we're going to get any Solas info today.  I wish we would, but I just don't foresee it happening.  From the male dwarf trailer leak, it seems like he doesn't appear at all... so I doubt he'll show up at Gamespot either.

Yeah, the not-knowing is making me twitchy. Didn't they reveal all the DA2 love interests at once? I'd prefer that... like, pulling off a band-aid really fast, then it's done. 

 

Because it's already set and it is what it is. But being in the dark about it sorta makes some of the forum-goers... a little feral to interact with, honestly.

Siiigh, I wish I wasn't so invested in the companions.  It's funny, because the first Bioware game I ever played was Mass Effect 2 (was a PS3-er back then) and I had no idea you could romance people.  Then...Garrus    Now it's just spiralled out into such a BIG DEAL for me and since this is the first BW game I've watched from development, the not knowing is killing me.  I have no impulse control whatsoever

This! Tbh, I couldn't care less about IB or Blackwall; I tend to gravitate towards the more androgynous type guy and therefore IB's uber-manliness just doesn't do it for me and I reeeeeaaallly dislike facial hair, so Blackwall is also out.  The facial hair thing actually skeeves me off Dorian a bit as well, I know, I'm weird   But do I feel the need to constantly rag on those characters and the people who like them just because I don't get the appeal? Nope.  Why people do that, I have no idea.

Same here, I was in disagreement with the same person but I didn't want to make a whole fuss about it so I just kinda brushed it off. I post on this forum to share my opinions, speculate a bit and have a good time, not to get in fights with people. I read your posts Brass and I totally agree that that person was being a complete jerk and it's just impossible to try and make them see your opinion unless you bash it in with a hammer because they're just too convinced that what they're saying is right and only that matters. But oh well, I guess you can't escape from those people even here, so I think I'll just stick to this thread for now because this is the best thread on this whole forum and spending time here makes me happy

Not that I don't sympathize because I've had my fair share of forum scuffles, but I just thought I'd point out that we probably shouldn't harp on for too long about that particular incident.

 

I remember something like that happened sort of recently in the Cullen thread and Allan was pretty uncomfortable with it from a mod stand-point and basically asked them not to use their fan thread as a "venting" thread for that sort of thing.

 

So, lest we give him any potential headaches - especially since he seems to enjoy retreating to this thread occasionally for the laughs and good fun - we should probably move off the current topic and back onto Solas.

Agreed. I think all the negativity is starting to take its toll on us and we shouldn't let that happen. This was easily the most positive thread on the BSN where we never ragged on any other character or vented all that much and I'd like to keep it that way. I suggest we just brush it off like so:

You're absolutely right, let's go back to our usual silliness and leave this in the past. Sorry if I came across as a bit too fanatical though, I just felt that there was some unfairness there and I wanted to let that know. Are you all excited for the next demo that's in like 30 mins? I suspect Solas isn't in there but I'm more than happy to just stare at awesome gameplay footage for 20 minutes
