If you're trying to raise an army of Solas fans, I'd be happy to join.   I pretty much liked Solas since I saw his concept art with the dwarf inquisitor and seeing that made me want to pair him up with my dwarf inquisitor.

Sooooo... that leaves Scribbles, Dorian, and Solas up for 'who is writing them?' I thought I read something about Patrick Weekes trying not stumble into the common pitfalls that straight writers fall into when writing homosexual characters, but I'm not sure... If that's the case I almost think he'd be the one writing Dorian, but it could Solas. (At first I thought it was Scribbles, but Sera has since then been confirmed as the female S/S character)

*grins* I'm surprised he didn't say "Enchantment" Sandal is a house favourite! When the Kittens(what my friends call my little ones) found out Sandal and Bodhan accompany the deep roads expedition out of Kirkwall they insisted to watch the beginning. They loved "Boom" and "Not Enchantment" too. I kind of want to have shirts made for us that say: For my son, T: Boom; for my daughter, G: Enchantment; and for myself: Not Enchantment...But almost none of my RL friends would get/appreciate it...le sigh.

Okay, so I'm finally delurking! I've been following this thread (and Solas' beautiful bald head) since the start of the thread, and I feel like we need to gather a larger fanbase! I keep feeling pretty defensive when people are so quick to judge Solas despite knowing practically nothing about him, even less than those of us who scour this thread for tidbits.

 

Personally, I'm really excited about his personality and potentially important part in the plot, given his 'fade expert' status. I love bookish or geeky guys, so I'm hoping the introverted/awkward thing is true to some extent. But then I'm really curious as to how that could possibly mix in well with the 'spicy' side of his personality.

 

Overall, I am a little disappointed at the lack of Solas at E3 It kinda irks me that Solas was teased ages ago with his name being revealed and a couple of pictures of him, but then a bunch of the newer characters all of a sudden get more info than us...we've been waiting longer ! (but seriously, I do love all of the characters so far!)

 

...and I'm really holding out hope for him to be an LI, and hopefully by a FemInquisitor I don't really have any other males that appeal to me, besides maybe Dorian, but he strikes me as maybe being the gay companion. The news about Iron Bull potentially being a bi LI has me worried about Solas' potential to fit in a LI slot, but my fingers are crossed!

 

(oh, and this has to be the friendliest, most welcoming thread around, methinks )

 

EDIT: realised I switched to saying "Solus" half way through For shame! (I've been playing too much Mass Effect lately...)

 

I haven't had time to read through the rest of the new posts (and I'm about to run off again!) but I just wanted to say welcome   It's so nice to hear from more people who appreciate our beautiful bald elf   Our power grows.... hopefully we'll soon be powerful enough to get the attention of the Info Gods and they'll toss us a few scraps

All right, I'm going to delurk to ask a question. (You have no idea how many times I've dithered over posting/asking this... It's ridiculous). So while I don't normally go for either elves or mages, somehow this bald elf mage has wormed his way into my interest zone and won't leave.  

 

My question is... *deep breath* I'm part of a cosplay group and am trying to figure out his costume. I want to do the one with the hide over one shoulder that I've seen more often recently, and I was REALLY hoping they'd release another image of him at E3 (no luck *sigh*). I was going to base it off of the pre-alpha elf clothing designs they have. Anyone have any suggestions on how his outfit might (or if you think it even does) differ from the elf clothing designs?

Yeah, maybe a backyard project this summer. Hm...

 

*coughs* On subject. I've noticed a lot of folk worried that Solas won't be a romance option because we don't have as many vocal fans around the forums. BUT keep in mind that things like who is romanceable and such gets decided long before any of us knew any of the characters, at all. So, basically, whether Solas is romanceable or not and of what sexuality will have been an internal matter and not have to do with forumite opinions.

 

Further, lack of Solas love wouldn't make them pull the content if it existed already. Fenris was decidedly unpopular when he was finally announced...holy hell...People really hated him. But he was a da2 romance anyway. And ended up with a decent following! So, they will plunge ahead. They know how no one really knows crap about him yet and that thusly whatever people express about him are (for the most part) gut reactions to his appearance.

 

*shrugs* So, here is hoping to a bi Solas!

 

((Also on the romance subject I'm thinking a 2:3or4:2 split. Particularly given that a dev has said that race will play a factor in LI's willingness combined with the everyone will have at least two options. ))

I have a Cassandra and a Varric (we're aiming for San Diego Comic Con). I'm of the opinion that you cosplay who you want to. Looks are less important than having fun. 

 

Ah, yes. The black vest. I was really hoping to avoid that outfit, so hearing the pre-alpha ones seem to be the defaults makes me very happy!
