I'm starting to think half of Solas' fanbase is comprised of lurkers.
It's good to see more people posting though.
Solas' fanbase = lurker introverts.
Iunno, but it makes sense!!!
You know, if Allan's random throw-away comment had any basis in fact and Solas really is introverted, it is toooooooootally ironic that he's got a lot of introverted lurker fans that are slowly warming up and feeling safe and coming out to say "hi". Like how I'd imagine Solas might actually be if introverted... a sloooooow friendship.
Heh, wonder how he'd react to us more boisterous, in-your-face fans of his?

Anywhos, welcome, welcome new Solas fans (or, rather, long-time Solas fans just now stepping out from the shadows)!

Hello and welcome to everyone who just joined in! Wow our little fanbase is actually starting to grow yaay! Don't be afraid to join in and share all of your crazy thoughts, I swear this is the friendliest, funniest and sweetest thread in the whole forum
You know all this talk about Solas being in introvert got me thinking, what if he's a tsundere!?
Here's the definition for those of you who don't know the term
Tsundere is a Japanese character development process that describes a person who is initially cold and even hostile towards another person before gradually showing their warm side over time.
That would explain him being an introvert right? But then on the other hand I don't know where his sassiness would come from..
Interesting that you bring up Tsundere since after the initial "what does scotch bonnet candy mean?" phase, I wondered if it hinted at something like that... a character who can sort of flip emotions pretty quickly. TV Tropes has a pretty good, long write-up on the concept, but here's the gist of it to elaborate a little more on what you wrote:
The Japanese term tsundere refers to a character who "runs hot and cold", alternating between two distinct moods: tsuntsun
(aloof or irritable) and deredere
(lovestruck).
The term was originally used to describe characters who began with a harsh outgoing personality, but slowly revealed a soft and vulnerable interior over time. Over the years the character archetype has become flanderized, and is now generically associated with a character who flips between the two emotional states at the slightest provocation.
The tsuntsun can range from the "silent treatment" to "lovestruck kindergartener who pushes you into the sandbox." The reasons behind a Tsundere's behavior vary widely, but usually boil down to the conflict between their feelings of affection towards a love interest, and their reaction to having those feelings.
The Tsundere stock characterization is very popular with writers of Romantic Comedy because the conflicts between the two personality facets can be easily utilized to generate both drama and comedy. It also acts as a source of Wish Fulfillment: specifically, the idea that every independent, hardened and just plain jerkish love interest (male or female) has a squishy emotional centre that will embrace you after you crack the outer shell.
