It would be a nice change a Li that's actually protective of the PC. Until now, the only one that (at least ot me) give that impression is Morrigan (yep, stanger thing ever) even if in a very possessive way, with the ring she give to a romanced warden, with wich she can find him wherever he is.
the others Li kinda felt as if the only one who is invested in the relationship is the PC, expecially with Alistair. (and I'm talking as someone who love his romance) In DA2 was better, because at least with Hawke's mom the LI came to give comfort, and in MotA the companions are worried for Hawke when is imprisoned.
But it would be cute a more "active" LI.

I think they focused a lot more on the agressive side of Fenris' tsundere character, and I imagine that they won't do that with Solas, I think they'll want to make him seem like he doesn't care much (like you already said) and like we've seen in multiple pictures already, that he'll always try to stay in the background with everything. Untill something bad happens to the people he cares about of course, and then the scotch bonnet (candy) part of him pops out.
I'd really, REALLY love a cutscene where someone tries to off the Inquisitor or kidnap them or *insert something here* and if you are on a good path with Solas all friendly and/or lovey, he busts in with some crazy fade magic and takes them out. Then mumbles something about know how you can take care of yourself...and geez if i find time today/tonight, I'll just write up a little script for it! Unfortunately, I need to sort of get moving. lol

Welcome!! And YES internet hugs are the best!! Even when others suddenly "pouncetackle" or dragon hug you, there is none of the RL sudden space invasion or OMG WHO IS HUGGING ME FROM BEHIND thing that potentially leads to jabbing elbows....

Oh my gosh that would be AMAZING! I would go into complete fangirl mode if something like that happened, the funny thing is out of all of the companions I can only see Solas acting like that, not wanting to admit that he cares about you and trying to talk himself out of it or just brushing it off suspiciously... and now I've talked myself into liking him even more oh dear..

Hee hee, "crazy Fade magic"... love it! Oooh, or if it turns out he's the necromancer, he marches a small squad of the undead in. I could totally see my Quizzy being concerned they belonged to whatever baddy has her held captive, and then it turns out, nope, Solas to the rescue, ha!

To be honest I can see him being either zen-like or an arrogant jerk, but he'll always have something interesting to say. He looks like a methodic person. You know what I think it's cool about him? You have Vivienne, who is and always looks fabulous; You have Sera, who apparently likes to dress and cut her hair in a fashion that screams "I don't care"; And you have Solas, who looks more like "I don't care even to look like I don't care".
That's just speculation from my part though. It'll be fun if later I find out to be completely wrong and end up hating Solas.

Haha don't worry about it, anyone is welcome to jump on the Solas bandwagon, the more the merrier right, so welcome! I know right, Solas is the companion I really only have an interest in now because most of the time you can see the personality of people in how they dress but with Solas its a total mystery. That makes him all the more interesting to me and I can't wait to see what he's like in game and if our predictions and speculations were right or not. But I'm perfectly okay with writing our crazy thoughts here to pass the time untill we get more info.

So... since we were speculating about Solas possibly being introverted or socially awkward or just not really being an incredibly outwardly emotional type, I stumbled upon this in my Internet meanderings earlier and it made me think of this thread:

Figured I'd share. I could possibly see some of that being applicable to Solas, possibly, based on his in-the-background I'm-just-watching-all-of-you-crazies smirk from the War Room concept art. (Also, funnily enough, I could see #6 applying to The Iron Bull and # 12 applying to Varric, based on what we know of them ).

awww...I love Shadowrun Returns...it have everything I love: fantasy, Elves, Dwarfes, a good story, Cyberpunk, magic, serial killers, underground life, family-like companions and tactics
I have to start Shadowfall soon.
edit: (I forgot to type this) the only thing Shadowrun doesn't have is a romance path, but is best this way, since the story run better without those kind of particular.
I can actually see Solas as a street mage, and Dorian as a shaman XD

Varric, grinning: Yes, I know Elf. BUT IT SHOULD HAVE! My readers are going to love this. I can finally buy that villa on the beach once the demons are all taken care of.
Varric rubs his hands together gleefully while Solas stares at him with an edge of panic in his eyes, the Inquisitor trying not to laugh nearby.
Solas: Life was much simpler in the fade.

I can't remember who it was, but someone earlier mentioned how they hope the LIs are a bit more invested in the PC this time. ITA with this; I loved the bit in the ME3 Leviathan DLC where if you take your LI with you they get freaked out over Shepard's safety That was just lovely and adorable, and made it feel way more like a ~real~ relationship, so more moments like that would be fab.
I've just about ran out of likes cause of all of you lol!

(So long as it isn't sudden like Alistair dumping yer mage or elf) Oh dear. IF Solas is a LI and IF Solas likes the lady bits, I wonder if he'd run away from a Qun!quisitor. Things in the Fade might be darn scary, but a Qun!quisitor? Also correct to be on a list of 'scary things'. (Which is why I love them.) I might need to re-think a playthrough.

I thought the DA2 male LIs were very protective of Hawke. Anders' whole "I'd drown this city in blood before I'd let anyone hurt you" speech and all. Very romantic there, Anders, thanks. Also, Fenris snaps at Anders "if you hurt her I''ll rip your heart out" (paraphrasing) banter; heck, I think they have at least three separate banters if you romance one or both of them where they start catfighting it out.
I agree, though, I like somewhat demonstrative or aggressive men. I hope at least one of the available dudes are like this. (Also, YES PLEASE to another rescue mission or scene!)

I wonder who will be restricted to what, my backup for Solas is Cullen. So if neither one of them are into dwarves, then I am totally going to be in a pickle. If Solas is into male elves, then that won't be a big problem. I was going to make my 2nd playthrough a male elf anyway, he'll probably look very, very feminine though.

Did you save a link to that at all? This is the first I've heard of it and would like to read it, if you don't mind.
Also, that sorta gives me some hope for a Varric romance since they're race-gating some of the LIs. One of the arguments people used against a potential Varricmance was because of the only being into female dwarves bit, but now that DA:I is NOT doing "playersexual", he'd fit into a logical pigeonhole now instead of being considered too specific a set of parameters to meet to merit inclusion.
Also, I imagine that HAD to happen because... just anatomically... I would be scared as hell to try and be a cindesigner for a Qunari/dwarf romance scene.

You know, I have a pretty strong suspicion that line was heavily influenced by Justice.
I could honestly see him saying something like that in Awakening and totally think it was the perfect description of his love/admiration/whatever for you. That special little Fade snowflake.
