[/quote]You have all my likes for today. Love this so much!!! Draw anything you like from any dialog I write. Solas with jar of bees, so cute:)
You need Blood Magic to enter the Fade physically, the last time someone tried that were the Magisters.
I believe the Breach is also done with Blood Magic, seems logical if Demons gain physical form by passing through without possessing.
No. You need lyruim and a group of mages OR blood magi to enter the fade physically. Mage origin and redcliffe if you go save Connor comfirms this.

Unless they have changed that bit of lore, the codex used to say that only once has anyone entered the Fade physically (the Magisters) and it took vast resources of lyrium and the blood sacrifice of hundreds of slaves to achieve it. However, that is getting there from the material world side without aid from within. If a very powerful spirit wanted to open it up from the other side to let you in, may be they could. Also if the veil has been torn open, I guess you could be sucked in as the tear occurred if you were very close to it.
I was never quite sure what happened with the Blackmarsh. There were lots of little veil tears there and we could only close them from within the Fade but I think we were still physically lying in Thedas while our spirits were in the Fade, although it was never totally clear. Whatever had occurred there had been caused by the blood magic of the Baroness and when she was attacked by the villagers, some sort of mass transfer took place.
The green glowy hand seems to indicate you are carrying a piece of the Fade within you, hence the ability to close the Fade tears from this side. Just a thought, if that is the explanation, could you also reverse someone's tranquillity just by touching them? (See Asunder for why I say this)
Oh by the way, Mordin sans the noble death. That was one of the best and most poignant bits of ME3 but I'd really like a Solas/Mordin to make it through to the end, whether as a romance or simply a friend.
I am sort of hopeful that we will get something different with Solas. Up to now we've had the smutty, sex elf (Zevran), the broody, angsty elf (Fenris), the (pretending to be) daft and away with the fairies elf (Merrill), so surely we're due a witty, funny, intelligent and may be slightly eccentric elf companion. I'd settle for someone a bit like Orsino (particularly when he was so cool drawing off the Qunari) but, again, without the insane despair and transforming himself into a monster for no good reason.
Hugs smutty, sexy elf while sitting on Antivan beach.
Seriously, I hope Solas will be more of a witty academic type. My current head canon for him is of a socially awkward but brilliant researcher with a talent for erudite sarcasm. (nothing like combining the lowest form of humor with an education).
Don't get me wrong, I loved Zevran, particularly some of the party banter he had and during the rescue from prison quest with practically anyone. When I didn't romance him but agreed we would just be good friends, it really made me smile hearing him give helpful tips to Alistair about improving his performance in bed. Now there's a good friend for you! Thought that girl really had her cake and ate it ending the game with Alistair as her lover and Zevran agreeing to stay on as her devoted friend. It was a pity that DA2 put a dampener on that and any of the totally devoted to you romances I with him. I was also besotted with Fenris despite all the angst. I'm somewhat into elves.
LOL, I romanced Alistair twice, then I found the Zevmance and have not been able to go back. It has taken me sixty thousand words of fan fiction to fix the one time I did romance Alistair with an elf (really should finish that one). Nothing wrong with either romance though. Just preferred Zev once I got to know him - much more to him than smutty elf. I did like the Fenris romance in DA2, although my Hawkes were frequently frustrated with him. Never could bring myself to romance Anders. Tried to romance Sebastian once, but went back to Fenris.

I had Zev as best friend, and Alistair (warden) as lover in my canon too (and in one as LI). I was quite sad DA2 (and before Awakening) ripped me off of both Zev and Ali ![]()
Zev and Morri where two character that really shine even without romance, if you choose to have a friendship path. Morrigan call you a sister, and Zevran feel like a great friend. thier friendship path is very satisfating.
I still haven't finished my run with Fenris romance. for now is not bad. (if you don't count the fact that...well, why in this game males don't even take out the weapons in *ah-ehm* intimate times!??!? I remember some posted scene of (scary neck) Merrill and male Hawke!!! no candies for females (or gay males, but I don't know if the scenes are different, or Fenris and Anders are totally dressed too) in DA2???
(edit for errors)
I'm hoping that Solas would be distant and very wise and you'll need quite some time to know him and to romance him but when you will then he is all yours and will be there whenever you need him.
Yes please! However, this is also why I could see my Inquisitor accidentally ending the game alone. "Maybe if I just keep clicking on all Solas' dialogue options the romance will finally develop." *Cue epilogue, roll credits* "Well ****."

well...a little like I ended neverwhinter night 2 with Sand...(I still cry a little inside for that Elf...)

Ahh, Sand. What could have been...
Or... maybe could be? Hmm. ![]()
Interesting theory, Dr. Doctor. I think it is very plausible.

There is a mod to flirt with him, or so I hear, but the romance unfortunately may never be created. Good thing i like Gann (him in all his sassXD)
also the other theory, I thought the dragons taught the human mages? Although i suppose it was all mages, not just human magiXDD;;
passage ". Legend holds that it was the Old Gods who initially taught mages how to use magic. It is widely believed - if not generally accepted as self-evident - throughout Thedas that the archdemons are the sleeping Old Gods, tainted and corrupted by the darkspawn."

yes, I had seen that "sand flirts" mod. always better than the original nothing, but hardly satisfating. ![]()
I'd like Solas being similar to Sand. sarcastic, acid but intelligent, and proud of it.
sigh. a girl can dream, no?
So I had this slightly crazy theory... based off of almost nothing but, whatevs - I'll share it anyway. Hell, maybe someone's already thought of this, I haven't read the entire thread.
I remember reading somewhere in the forums that in the books post DA2 (which I have not read - but there's a lot pointing to the fact that events in them will be referenced in Inquisition) they are able to find a cure for tranquility... What if Solas is a cured tranquil? I know he doesn't have the brand, but neither did the mages in Origin and it's possible that would go away if tranquility is cured. It would also explain the shaved head - as all the Origins tranquil, male and female, were bald. He keeps it that way either out of practicality, or to remember. It would definitely make for a fascinating story arc. Might not make sense with the whole Fade expert thing, but it could be his dabbling in such things are what got him tranquil in the first place. Like I said - it is a crazy theory ![]()
Regardless, I hope this cure, assuming it makes it into the game, does get addressed, and that we get to meet some characters who've gone through it. It would be a neat perspective to see.

...er, I'm fairly sure the Connor trip didn't enter the Fade physically. Hence why it had to be a mage, who could stay awake and be deliberate, rather than being the second greatest feat of magic in the world.
The lyrium and mages were more so that you could do the ritual to get to the demon in the fade.

It's a cool theory, but it seems improbable that Solas is a cured Tranquil. Curing Tranquility leaves people extremely emotionally unstable, and the cure isn't that wildly known I don't think. Doesn't explain the other bald elf in the field and the "stayed tuned" the developers gave us when asked about it.
Kinda sad how little info there has been on Solas, even Cole got a whole book but aside from being bald he been getting nothing
Hope Bioware reveals more info on him next
People are certainly milking his baldness for all the speculation that it's worth though. Imagine what this thread will be like once we have some actual information.
