Indeed, I certainly hope that we get more information where we can actually base his character on, because right now I absolutely love the guy but I'm really bothered by judging someone (that I'm going to romance if he's available) based solely on his looks, because that's all we've got right now. Who knows, once we know more about him a lot of people might join in or might back off. I feel a bit neglected now though as a Solas fan, they're releasing new info on characters like Sera, IB and Blackwall sure, but they're also just repeating characters we already know more of already, like Cass or Viv. I reaaaally hope Solas is the next on the list, because we need some lovin', partially because we're the most dedicated and patient fans I've ever seen anywhere. (even Bioware has to acknowledge that) 
I quite like the idea of an ex-tranquil character. surely would be interesting.
I'm starting to think that maybe the elves that shave are part of some cult or something...or the rebellion of elves in orlais.

Just speculation. The idea was that it could be a sign of mourning or have some cultural significance.

No story yet, but someone tweeted one of the devs asking why all the male elves we've seen so far are bald (Solas and the dead elf in the field that Sera seems to mourn). The dev tweeted back "Stay tuned".
That's literally all we know. That type of answer is making people start to speculate that the baldness potentially has some sort of deeper meaning than just simply being bald/aesthetic choice.

This is EXACTLY what it felt like, oh lord. I felt like we'd have a little more information at this point about the companions, at least. The game isn't that far away.
Or maybe I'm just frustrated because we've seen so little of Solas! It's worse because he was one of the earlier characters to be shown in screenshots and gameplay and now he's the last companion we'll get concrete info on (I assume blonde rogue is Cole, in which case we have a whole book with him). I just want me some Solas! He's painfully mysterious.

Maybe Solas is just a very clean elf? Or atleast that's what he tries to be, but I can imagine that would only go to a certain degree in the DA universe that's practically medieval..

I think the "best" speculation was people assuming some sort of plague was afflicting elves because of the baldness.

Yeah. We haven't even heard any of the new companions voices properly...
Or on a more angst-like note since Bioware does love that, it could be forced upon male elves as a branding done by human authorities in the city, that the alienages became more like prisons after the rebellion attempt. He may have been marked as a trouble maker.
We'll have to see if they continue with companion reveals this afternoon or if they are done for a while. I suspect they may be done for a while based on the last facebook update which asked which was your favorite. That sort implied a certain finality to the reveals for now. (I hope I am wrong though)
I understand they have a plan and we still have three and a half months but it would be nice to have something of Solas. (Or confirmation that Cole is Cole, or even a name for our scribe adviser - even though I have a clearer idea of her character then Solas based on quips from the writers) I just really want to know how to reconcile introverted and possibly awkward with Scotch Bonnet Candies! That doesn't sound boring or dull to me!
I'm just waiting for him to defy all expectations. People seem to think that he's going to be the more put-together professor type with a sarcastic streak. What if he actually started bouncing off the walls with no composure at all when we meet him in game?

And the funniest part about that is with what few scraps of knowledge we have about him (which is to say, next to nothing), we're the second biggest companion/follower thread . I seriously can't wait to see how badly this place is gonna explode when we actually get something.

I know! Crazy, right? Solas would probably be flattered if he was real. 
But sometimes there are characters that just immediately catch your interest even when you know next to nothing about them. Clearly our bald elf had this effect on a good number of people!
I'm surprised he's still being made fun of after the HD shot of him. I think he's so handsome, that dimple kills me.
I still see this resemblance and I will never unsee it.

I mean, I know it's not a huge deal in the scheme of things, but we're all so READY for it and you guys have kept this thread going on so little juice for so long (I can't claim I have, because most of my time was spent lurking until recently ). Just a new screencap and a quote, that's all we're asking for. We'd get AT LEAST another hundred pages out of that
It's also killing me not knowing all the companions' orientations, and now we're being race-gated as well... 
The worst case scenario for my femquiz would be for Solas to be gay and Cass to be straight, although I'm happy to play whatever race it takes to get into their respective pants

I think the most important fact that have attracted me to Solas after having see his HD pick is how...real his face seems, pointy ears a part.
I'm not sure if I like him with hair or not. If I was Nicky Hambleton-Jones I'd have a heart attack.
