I'm not trying to start a flame war, I'm just legitimately curious:
This thread almost has 300 pages... why do you think that is?
At first I thought it was because we know so little about Solas, but we know next to nothing about Scribbles and there doesn't seem to be nearly the same level of intense interest.
I'm kind of shocked that Dorian's and Sera's threads only have a little over 200 pages in comparison.

Idk really...we're a friendly, chatty thread and love our bald elf, it keeps the conversation flowing 
I'm seriously starting to think that Solas might be some kind of walking spoiler character and that's why so little is revealed about him.
It's easy enough to leave things out. All they need to do is talk a bit more about his personality as opposed to his past. Or at least his espoused views on things. They could tell us, he wants to see the downfall of Orlais, etc. Without saying, he's a Dalish elf from this clan and saw x bad things happen and that's why. *shrugs* I really just think that it is that some part of him is unrefined yet. That they do not feel ready to share him. *shrugs* I'm just really relaxed about it now as it's just him and Dorian left. I had very sincerely expected Cole to be the final reveal, so, now I'm expecting it to be Solas. And I'm expecting somewhere in there to learn about Scribbles as well. Possibly next, since she isn't a companion. Also, there is plenty of info to receive yet in regards to people we actually have been introduced to. Cole needs an interview, everyone but IB needs voice actor videos...

We're all chatty and willing to range around through quite a bit of conjecture on basically everything. We post plenty of fanart and we have some really fun party banter ideas and little snippets of scenes and the like we post, We just...keep it friendly and fun, I guess.
It's easy enough to leave things out. All they need to do is talk a bit more about his personality as opposed to his past. Or at least his espoused views on things. At this point, I'm expecting Morrigan to get revealed again before we get any new Solas info

I definitely get the "monk/shaman/druid" vibe from him. Far more than an "apostate on the run roughing it in the wilderness" vibe.
Has anyone considered that he might be from somewhere different?
Nevarra or Rivain? I mean, he's not dark like the human Rivaini we've met, but there's no reason the elves from there need to be dark too.

Nah, no worries. It's true, if they do an actual reveal for Scribbles then Cullen and Sister Nightingale should get ones too. Maybe they will hold advisors to after companions are done. I fervently hope so.
I would not expect more than an image and quote and a page of his very own to start. That is precisely what I'm hoping for.

Solas was one of the first revealed in photos. Dorian and Sera weren't confirmed as characters until much later. Early on, Solas was one of the first we "knew" about and he's also been a popular LI hopeful. He picked up a lot of pages before the later confirmed characters even got started. Dorian's thread has actually made surprising ground on this one since his official reveal. If I remember right, before the war table trailer showing Dorian in game, his speculation thread was only at around 50 pages while Solas was already up around 180.
I don't think we can honestly ignore his popularity as a possible LI as part of the reason he's gotten so many pages, though. Look how enormous Cullen's fan thread is.
---I also thought, maybe they are afraid we will utterly explode when we get info. I mean....look what we've done with a name and some pictures...and knowing he's our "Fade Expert Mage." Maybe they're afraid the world will burn when we find out more...lol

OMG I know! I always try so hard not to hate on characters, but I couldn't stand Cole in Asunder and am really not looking forward to having him in Inquisition, especially after those creeeeepy as heck screenshots (and that hat terrifies me even more). I've honestly never hated a DA character before, so I'm hoping I might change my mind on him, but this is the first time I'm actually contemplating not even recruiting a companion.
And yeah, I totally don't understand the wanting to give him candy and cuddles thing as well, he doesn't ping my mothering instinct but rather my zombie hunter instinct

I think this thread has a lot in common with the Cullen thread- a lot of LI speculation, a lot of fanart, a really nice chatty group that continue to post even when information is low- it's a nice place to peek in at. Even though I would very much like a high-def image of 'new' Cullen, I think the next reveals really deserve to be of Solas, Dorian and 'Scribbles'. Everyone has waited so patiently and remained really positive, it wouldn't be fair to keep switching the spotlight to established personalities.

Honestly, it's because we've known about Solas for quite a long time now. More than many of the other companions. So long, in fact, that we've all gotten rather frustrated that they seem to be holding off on revealing him for so long. Based on how early we got a glimpse of Solas, we were once expecting him to be the first companion revealed after Vivienne and now it's looking like he'll be the last!
A lot of the thread was intrigue about his Fade expert status and how it'd fit into the Inquisition really well and all the connections he could possibly have with a certain Masked Empire character. We talked about his food comparison a lot too. Then we finally got a good look at him, decided we liked it, and got all excited about LI possibilities.
Basically this thread got this long because we discussed every bit and detail during this excruciating wait for more DAI info. We're also a chatty bunch but really, how long we've known about Solas also factors in. Based on the speed of the Dorian thread, since they've gotten more info, the Solas thread will soon be overtaken if we don't get anything new in the next few weeks.
I'm totally expecting that once we get actual information on Solas if I go to bed, start up my pc the next day, log in here I'll discover that there are 25 pages more than the last time I read the thread. I guess sleeping will have to be placed a bit lower on my priority list then.. Can't wait to freak out with all of you guys though when the times comes, that's going to make this place even crazier than it already is. Honestly I think that eventually we'll be like the Cullen thread if we get some more things to speculate and swoon over, approaching the 1000 or more pages mark or more. Also, I expect LOTS AND LOTS of fanfiction in that case, don't disappoint me BSN..

Also, is it bad that I keep trying to do this with the website URL in the hopes something accidentally goes up early? 
Also, funny note, when I was uploading that to my Photobucket, I see the DA:I online retargeting campaign is in full swing... because look what banner ad I got served (and is now following me around to other websites):
It's actually a nice little animated ad... starts off with misty fog and says LEAD THEM OR FALL, then the green fade dragon image from the box art shows, and then this final frame. I'm an advertising rep, so this sort of geekery makes me giggle.
Kinda reminds me of when Elmer Fudd is hunting Bugs Bunny when he are hunting for more Solas.

Well, I actually go to Sera's profile, and then change "sera" to "solas" at the end. But yeah. I tried that for Dorian under the "human" profiles, too, but no dice. 
That was an old trick picked up during ME3MP days. Sometimes, the pictures of new characters or weapons for the N7 Manifest site would get uploaded before the DLC would actually become available, and with the style of naming conventions, you could sometimes stumble upon a jackpot and sneak a peak at the image before anything was officially announced.

Heh, I've had no such luck since that one random Solas dream I had. My dreams of late have been... well, entirely inappropriate and probably involve Magneto just a little too much for comfort, but I suppose that is my penance to pay for having watched "X-Men: Days of Future Past" recently.
Not that I'm complaining much. *cough cough*
But at any rate, the wait is certainly affecting my enjoyment of other games at the moment, sadly enough. I can usually get engrossed in a game quickly and easily, even if it's a replay of an old favorite, but I have been bouncing from Titanfall to ME3MP to DA2 to Oblivion to Skyrim... and I just find myself bored after 30 minutes or so. Because what I WANT to be playing is DA:I.

I would honestly pay good money just to sit in the theatre for two hours and watch him fling metal stuff around. That could be the entire movie. Just "Magneto Gets Angry and Hurls Crap Around". Seriously. Magneto (particularly the young version, although I adore Sir Ian McKellen's original portrayal 
) and his particular mutation just amuses and captivates me like a 5-year-old child. Plus, you know, tormented, damaged antagonist that was turned well-intentioned extremist by life events is fascinating and heartstring-pulling, dangit. To me, at least.
But, yeah, not to mention...

So... Patrick Weekes wrote Cole. The chances that Mr. Gaider wrote Solas just improved! 
Edit: We need Solas asap because he has been unseated by Cole as my top hugging candidate >.<
So Weekes wrote Cole! So that leaves Solas or Dorian as Gaider's character.
Also, I don't think I could be much more in love with Iron Bull. That dude is incredibly chill! He even doesn't mind Cole despite his issue with demons!
