Personally I had a feeling that Solas was going to be the last companion they'll reveal...Which kind of fuels some theories I have about him playing a major(defining even) role in the plot.

I like Dorian's design though,but he looks a bit too much like on of my relatives.

Eh, now that I've seen Dorian's personality in that profile... I gotta say I'm not that interested in him...  Which is sad because he's not bad looking!

 

Back to Solas!

 

I was thinking and meant to post earlier, about what his name meant among other things.  Can't remember the other idea I had... darnit...  Oh right.

 

Well, Solas means "pride" in Ancient Elvish right? (Or "to stand tall," and he does seem a bit tall for an elf.)  What if the "pride" in question means simply that Solas is proud to be an elf?  You could also extend that to mean he's proud to be a mage.  Kind of his way of saying, "This is what I am and I won't be ashamed of it."  And that would be why he's bald, as well--to show those ears off.   Might be interesting if he refuses to hide that he's an apostate, as well...

 

I was also thinking, Allan hinted he might be introverted, and someone else mentioned he seemed hermit-like/isolationist.  Isolationists are a political group within the Circle Magi.  He very well could be an Isolationist.  In fact that would make perfect sense, if he doesn't turn out to be an ancient elf or something else like that.  It would also be a take on the magi we haven't seen explored in a companion before--we've seen moderates, we've seen liberationists, and we've seen Chantry apologists.  We haven't had an isolationist before.  I think it might be kind of interesting--but again, would likely mean Solas is NOT a romantic interest (which, well, disappointing but I repeat we will survive if that is the case).

My biggest disappointment about Dorian is that we learned pretty much nothing we didn't know from that old survey. Seems like he hasn't changed at all. I was hoping something would be tweaked and his character would come as more of a surprise.

 

Eh, at least Solas is still completely a blank slate. It occurs to me that anything could come out of his reveal and his interview. I couldn't even hazard much of a guess!

I find it really funny how people say some of these characters look like their relatives. One person I follow was like 'Cassandra looks like my mom' and then posted a picture and yeeeep she does. Or a girl I see sometimes in the Dragon age Inquisition tag looks like Sera. Then again, maybe I'm humored by this because none of the companions/ advisors look like any of my relatives.

Half of me is concerned he's really important to the plot (which is not the biggest problem, it just means he'll have a really good character arc at the expense of not being a LI) and the other half of me just wants to think things haven't been put together for him yet and it's no biggie. It is what it is and he ended up last of the companions. While he arguably has the most screen-shots out there (which is a possible argument that his model is the most finished of them all) as well as appearances in concept artwork, it is plausible his model is still being tweaked. While a lot of us here see no problem in how he looks now it is... known... that he doesn't have the most aesthetically pleasing appearance to many others. BUT to quote Yolandi Vi$$er "Oooo I love my ugly boy" /runs off singing that

Or, I don't know, maybe he is connected to the ancient elves and we actually know more about him than we think (such in the case of Cole) because he was in a book or something - something the thing you were all talking about before.

FFFFFF- WHAT I'm really trying to say is that I don't think we've earned a pity party yet considering the scribbles fandom has it worse. (Which I'm in no way making fun of I'm just... I just feel strange throwing a boo-hoo-boo-hoo party when we don't have it that bad.) And, I don't know, I want to think Cole is hugging scribbles but she looks so shocked. (Unless he has declare her his new mother then I guess I would have an expression like so)

Or, I don't know, maybe he confesses his undying love to her in her ear.
Maybe he told her she's the next Miss Thedas...

He is a mage in dragon age series... you can expect that he will screw up something or go insane and many "innocent" will die... or at least did it in the past.

He has really attractive facial structure and features,People focus too much on the lack of hair.

Originally I didn't find him attractive either,because he is way too lithe for my tastes(which I thought for all the elves I eventually romanced ) but  then we got a closer look at him and I noticed that he really has an unusual kind of beauty.
