I find it really funny how people say some of these characters look like their relatives. One person I follow was like 'Cassandra looks like my mom' and then posted a picture and yeeeep she does. Or a girl I see sometimes in the Dragon age Inquisition tag looks like Sera. Then again, maybe I'm humored by this because none of the companions/ advisors look like any of my relatives.
 

I'm telling you he looks like he's modelled after my cousin or something(except perhaps from the moustache),It's kind of creepy but also really funny if you think about it.
I even showed Dorian to my mom and she started laughing out loud,because of the resemblance!

He has really attractive facial structure and features,People focus too much on the lack of hair.

Originally I didn't find him attractive either,because he is way too lithe for my tastes(which I thought for all the elves I eventually romanced ) but  then we got a closer look at him and I noticed that he really has an unusual kind of beauty.

 

yea it seems like they are really paying attention to the elves this time around. hopefully frostbite will get rid of those neckline we saw in DA2

I am going to think positive today and say I feel we might get Solas instead of Dorian for the next picture/quote.

 

I base this entirely on the fact that I had my second Solas dream last night - which consisted of my brain apparently thinking Game Informer did a whole issue just on the companion reveals, so I was reading the article and getting excited about Solas... who, apparently, was characterized as some sort of "mad scientist"/Avernus type of character, given he's a Fade expert. Made me chuckle. 

 

Figure I have a 50/50 shot that such a dream was either prophetic/premonition or simply further proof that alcohol is rapidly consuming my brain cells.

 

So, back to that 50/50.

So everyone's so caught up in the whole "hey it's Dorian instead of Solas" thing that no one had an opinion on my thoughts about Solas's name?  Or the possibility that he's an Isolationist (as in group within the Circle of Magi)?

Don't worry guys, I'm going on holiday next week and won't be able to access the internet for all of it, so that guarantees that Solas will be revealed then

Ah hopefully solas will be next, I want to see more pictures of him in his bald glory. Also if the dorian thread has exploded this erratically imagine what will happen when solas appears, I feel that 100 pages won't even be a milestone...

If Solas means pride in ancient elvish, I think that would indicate it is not his real name, just as Anders was not Anders real name.   It is either a name he took for himself or a name that someone else gave to him (other than his parents).   I think he is going to be something of a mystery, even after they reveal him.    Every other characters seems to have a link to some important aspect of Thedas culture:

Iron Bull - Qunari

Cassandra - Seekers

Varric - Surface Dwarf Merchants' Guild

Blackwall - Grey Wardens

Sera - Friends of Red Jenny

Dorian - Tevinter Magisters

Vivienne - Court Mage and Senior Circle Enchanter

Cole - Fade Spirits

By rights you'd think that Solas represented the Dalish, except he has no tattoos and the hints are that he is a loner.   Instead they have ensured that if you play an elf, then you represent the Dalish.   Which suggests that Solas is going to be something else entirely.  Could he really be an ancient elf awakened from Uthenera?   Is that why he is such an expert on the Fade?   In some ways, when they reveal him, if it turns out he is just a standard elf apostate, I'm going to be a tad disappointed.

Hey Solas thread!

 

Since everyone's favourite bald elf mage will almost certainly be the next (and last) companion to get a full reveal in a few days, I was wondering if you folks wanted to start a new Solas discussion/speculation thread. (As in, so someone else could do interesting things with a new Solas thread's OP and topic title, etc)

 

I probably haven't been following Solas as closely as I should have after starting this thread ages ago, and (to be honest) I'm not quite as interested in the character as when we knew nothing about him. I know there's a lot of great art (and probably good memories) in this one, but a new thread would mean you'd have someone editing the title and OP who is... probably more excited about Solas than I am. It would also reset the page count, which... I guess some people care about?

 

Of course, if you'd like to keep the thread going I totally don't mind keeping the OP updated when and if we get more info. but I'm probably not going to be as active as someone who was following the conversations here daily.

I think even as non romances these characters are going to be great. hopefully those who don't like how sera or solas look will get to like them for their personalities when the game releases. Still though with everybody pointing to Dorian as the m/m character I would say Solas has a pretty good chance of being bi.

@ ElitePinecone: I noticed you're not much into Solas and I don't want you saddled with having a thread to update that you're not really invested in! I have no issue with starting all over again if others are game. I can't personally take on making the new thread, though, because I'm going to be super duper busy the next few weeks!

If somebody/anybody feels like starting a new thread, we can definitely ask Allan or one of the mods to close this one down. Does anyone have the time or interest? I'm not very familiar with the Solas fans

 

(IN FACT: I'm pretty sure they'll be able to merge all the posts here with a new OP, so that you can keep the fan art and everything else.)

 

I don't know the etiquette of starting character threads but I thought I should just start some sort of conversation about it, now that we know Solas is getting info soon.

Yes,how insignificant a fade expert will be,in a game where the plot is about the tears that open in the fade...    
I know I may be wrong,but for some reason I really have this feeling that his role is definitely going to be far more important than,people give him credit for...
