You know if there is a way to keep the thread going and just change the OP who better to be the OP of the Solas thread than Solas.

I know I may be wrong,but for some reason I really have this feeling that his role is definitely going to be far more important than,people give him credit for...

I just messaged Allan asking whether the mods have the ability to merge threads, I think that's the best solution so that someone else can take over managing the OP and title - but it should allow you to keep all the existing posts here.

I won't lie, I like our thread. I feel safe enough to post which is a really big deal for me and I don't really like the idea of losing what we have or what we have done here (as irrational as that sounds) so I am all for keeping our thread as is. I don't go back to the OP anyway but I can see how that would be helpful to a new person so... if we have to change (shudders) I like the idea of a merge or if there were a way to reassign rights to modify the OP to someone like Solas, that would be my preference.

Hey Solas thread!

 

Since everyone's favourite bald elf mage will almost certainly be the next (and last) companion to get a full reveal in a few days, I was wondering if you folks wanted to start a new Solas discussion/speculation thread. (As in, so someone else could do interesting things with a new Solas thread's OP and topic title, etc)

 

I probably haven't been following Solas as closely as I should have after starting this thread ages ago, and (to be honest) I'm not quite as interested in the character as when we knew nothing about him. I know there's a lot of great art (and probably good memories) in this one, but a new thread would mean you'd have someone editing the title and OP who is... probably more excited about Solas than I am. It would also reset the page count, which... I guess some people care about?

 

Of course, if you'd like to keep the thread going I totally don't mind keeping the OP updated when and if we get more info. but I'm probably not going to be as active as someone who was following the conversations here daily.

 

Let me know what you think!  

 

If somebody/anybody feels like starting a new thread, we can definitely ask Allan or one of the mods to close this one down. Does anyone have the time or interest? I'm not very familiar with the Solas fans

 

(IN FACT: I'm pretty sure they'll be able to merge all the posts here with a new OP, so that you can keep the fan art and everything else.)

 

I don't know the etiquette of starting character threads but I thought I should just start some sort of conversation about it, now that we know Solas is getting info soon.

I'm the same.  I totally understand EliteP wanting to hand over the reins, but I'd be so sad to lose our lovely 300+ pages here.  So if we can merge and/or alter who the OP is, I'd be up for that.  

 

And I feel you on the safety of this thread; this is pretty much the only thread I post in regularly and even though Cassandra is my main girl I rarely even look in her thread because it tends to be hostile.  The warmth and friendliness and lack of nastiness is what makes the Solas thread so special

I second. I would also volunteer, though I can't guarantee I can update the thread the second something happens. At least by the end of the day. (By the way I'm about to start class so I won't be able to continue this until later)

I'm all for making a new thread, it'd be perfect if they could be merged together because like Chrislynn said, I don't really want to lose what we built in here with all the wonderful fan art and discussions. And ofcourse the 300 pages where we can show off with   I also feel like this is one of the few places where I feel safe to voice my opinion and actually do it without hesitation because you're all so nice here, and I absolutely don't want to lose that But on the other hand, maybe a new thread will attract a lot more fans and that's definitely something positive, so as the feeling of this thread stays the same but with more people, then I'm all in.

I feel ya! It's thanks to this thread that I am out of my 3 year old lurker shadow I would love if we can just keep the thread as is and just change the op.  I am sure if there is not a way already Allan can find a way

Definitely agree with this. Also the first few pages of this thread were.....really really rough... :/ I hope that doesn't turn off people who meander into the thread.

But I'm happy with anything, as the people in here have always made the thread very warm and accepting of new people. Definitely my favorite place in the Bioware forums, by far.

We could easily do Solas Discussion and Speculation: [Subtitle of peoples' choice]. A good few of the other character threads have that system. Sometimes their subtitle changes to reflect new info too.
