Maybe because it's important to his character and how devs see him?
But still... If he had hair. Aah the fandom.
But Im stil excited. I want a nice elven LI, like Fenris for instance. Not some pretty male boy like Anders and Kaiden.

It might be important to his character but I'm also thinking it might just purely be the uniqueness factor. Otherwise he would kind of just look like any old elf. Either way, they made him that way for a reason so I'll trust their judgment. I'm growing fond of his cueball head and horrible fashion sense anyways so it doesn't bother me too much!

I dunno, I'd say Fenris was quite the "pretty boy" type as well. I love him, but he practically looked like an anime character.
Unless Cullen really is a companion and LI or the companion list deviates greatly from what we all assume it will be from evidence, it seems the LIs this time around aren't the "traditionally attractive" types. I think that's kind of cool even if I'll miss having a pure pretty boy around.

I don't think that's the case. But if it makes you happy, let's assume that Matt just had "bald elf streak" - http://mattrhodesart...decided-to-stop

You don't think what's the case? That it's not purely a thing they just thought looked cool? Clearly they must because they were thinking about it for Fenris too! That concept art IS pretty sweet looking, actually, but the Fenris fans would have been so angry.

I don't know, i'm quite the fan and i like it. It has... appeal.

I think it suits his personality quite well too, actually. But I know many fans who are completely and utterly in love with his white hair.
I have to say, I've pretty much lost interest in this guy after the reveal that he's unconnected to the Dorian/exiled magister concept..
I don't have anything against him, but as it stands he doesn't do anything for me.
I think Dorian as a human is actually more interesting than when some people (including me) thought Solas was an elven magister. There was a nagging sense that Solas-Dorian couldn't possibly climb to the highest parts of Tevinter society because of his race, and there'd be the perennial question of how much the character's views on the Imperium were shaped by his being an elf. Hypothetically. And people did keep asking how an elf would even become a magister.
But human Dorian, if he's in the game still, can just go crazy with wild stories of a privileged life in Tevinter.
And Solas has his own story - which probably makes far more sense than having an elf be a magister.

While I was aware of that mentality, it was never something that occurred to me, personally. I think many people have their views of slavery shaped by the American institution of it, which was very much race-based. I've never gotten that vibe from the Imperium; was always obvious to me that slavery there was based solely on greed, and status was based on wealth and magical power, with race playing no part in it. I always thought that demonstrating that would have been an excellent use of a character.
That being said, I'm still interested in the Dorian concept. I've previously stated that I doubt we'll get three mages(I just don't think they'll let an all mage party be a thing), but I'm more hopeful now, given that I simply find the concept more interesting than Solas.

I'm thinking Dorian might still be in the game. Considering the companion break up, it's possible that we'll have one more mage companion. Maybe that Mr. Mustache we've seen in the concept art?
One of the artists (Casper Konefal?) described how he designed Cassandra...
To steal a music term, the hook of a song is that thing that, well, hooks you in and makes you wanna remember the song. So how does that pertain to design you ask? [...] I decided to look through the lens of the narrative, and find their hook. I just found beauty too subjective, too mushy too, too, well lets just say I didn't find it adequate.
[...]
In the example of Cassandra. Her hook is her power and authority. So then the trick was merely to use visual language to tell that story. I no longer had to justify what I thought was attractive. Her face became all about her aggression. Through the angle of her facial structure to the angle of her ears. It all became about giving her a strong aggressive forward visual flow. Rather than picking this nose and that mouth, I started designing her feeling not her beauty.
...and Matt Rhodes said that every companion was given the same treatment, so I don't feel like they made him bald just because it's "cool" or different from what's been done before. Someone pointed out (somewhere in this thread
) that his whole appearance works very well with him being an apostate, flying under the radar, trying to avoid notice and all that. I wonder what the artists consider his "hook."
I personally see someone trying to not attract any attention, which automatically makes me want to rip that all away and find out what he's hiding. That... came out wrong ![]()
Myself, while I'm apathetic to the character for the most part, I don't have a problem with him being bald and I don't think I'd suddenly become interested in him if he had hair.
If anything, my only gripe with his appearance is how lanky he is; how long his limbs are compared to the rest of his body. He's like the elven Doug Jones, only without the grace.
I'm vaguely holding out hope he's going to be a Tevinter magister. I've always wanted to see a elven magister. From an elven mage playthrough, it feels like you're mage first and elf second and I'd imagine the power structre in Tevinter would take a similar view of things.

I hope he's not a love interest, because I'd wind up missing out on him due to gender.
So far all elven characters in the vanilla games have been LI.I hope he's not a love interest, because I'd wind up missing out on him due to gender.

Though I don't really know if he'll be a LI. There are a lot of possible male LI, and I'm pretty sure one would be the male human character not yet announced. Though we don't know how many LI there are in the game.
Beardo the Grey Warden, yes?
Him, our moustache guy, or Cullen. I do think that Beardy is the most likely due to him already been seen in a video, while the others might not be in.Beardo the Grey Warden, yes?

My point was that I'm sure there'll be one male human LI, so if there's only 2 per gender there's one spot for Varric, IB, Solas and Tevinter 1/2 possible other male companions (though if Cole is in he'd be ruled out). There's plently of competition, and I have no clue who Bioware might have written as LI.
Varric, in my opinion, is almost certainly one.
I don't have the same opinion on him being almost sure.Varric, in my opinion, is almost certainly one.

Why would you think that?
Because of how widely requested he was in DA2 and the devs' almost making him one there, then regretting not doing so.
Fair enough. I'm still not sure though.Because of how widely requested he was in DA2 and the devs' almost making him one there, then regretting not doing so.
If Varic is going to be a romance then only for a female Dwarf. I remember him telling Hawke that his only into dwarves and my guess his straight.
I honestly doubt it'll be the case.If Varic is going to be a romance then only for a female Dwarf. I remember him telling Hawke that his only into dwarves and my guess his straight.
I will be so sad if there is only two LI´s, and one of them is Varric. (and the other was ... *shivers* Cullen. Thats giving two already known companions to be LI. Such antikklimax ) I could never romance Varric. I love him to bits, but not...like that. Ew.
I do hope Solas is romanceable.
