It is not that simple.

Baldness is never ok, how can you trust a bald person at your back? How do you know he doesn't have it all worked out to hand you over to Magisters?

Maybe he cut off all his hair in an episode of broody peak.  Or maybe he just shaved all his hair off to hide a key under his wig.  Though I suppose that last one wouldn't explain the eyebrows.

Just pointing out the two magisters we have been subjected to thus far have both had hair....just saying.

Orlesian wigs.

Mace Windu would like to have a word with you.......

Samuel L. Jackson is an acceptable exception that proves the rule.

Vin Diesel and the Rock...

Lots of attractive bald men. People need to stop sipping the haterade.

Personally, I am waiting for voice actor announcements (and a Cullen yes/no). Cullen is my planned LI for the first run through just because my PT for Inquisition involved a mage Warden and mage Hawke "softening" him up.

If Cullen isn't in it, it will probably come down to who has the best voice. That's how I arrived on Fenris and Alistair the first time.

According to a study published in the Journal of Social Psychological and Personality Science in 2012, society sees men with shaved heads as being more "manly." Participants in the study repeatedly ranked cue-ball men higher for "masculinity, strength dominance and leadership potential."

Just pointing out.

Looking at Solas, I'm just hoping he doesn't turn out to be a blood mage.  There's been so many elven blood mages that I feel like we're being beaten over the skull with them.  Not that the characters weren't cute.  I enjoyed Merrill in DA2, and I understood Zathrean (sp?) in DA:O.  But at some point, just give me a normal elf like Zevran, but just not Zevran.  All that missing hair does make me wonder about the kind of person he is.  But that's mainly the connotation between elves and the "fabulous" hair.

Unless it was lost in translation, the Gamespot article claims that he is a "Dreamer" like Fenyriel (I know I spelled that wrong), which could be hella interesting.

I'm of the opposite persuasion. Mo' blood mages are needed to combat the harsh perception of the school. Not to say that I wish the Solas to only be a blood mage or even mostly a blood mage. He appears to be elemental anyway, so you probably do not have to fret about it.

Yeah, I'm really, really hoping that none of our companions are blood mages after the ridiculously high amount of blood mages that we encountered in DA 2.  Frankly, I would like to explore something different for mages.  It feels a bit played out to make every mage cut their hand/arm as soon as they feel threatened.

Bald attraction is simply a lure for their victims.

I'm hoping that Vivienne really is bald under her hat because then we would have at least 1/3 of our companions (Solas, Iron Bull, and Vivienne) who are bald.

I'm fine with that.  Feynriel wasn't a blood mage though.  Though he did go off to Tevinter, so he may be one now.  Dreamers are just more susceptible to demon's attention. Anyway, I don't mind the mage part.  It's the blood magic part in relation to elves.  Elves don't look at blood mages any better than Templars do.  They didn't even really mind when Zathrean died, removing the curse.  Merrill got exiled for it.  I'll take a dreamer that kills my enemy in their sleep.  Heck, I think it'd be funny if he collapsed in a fit of narcolepsy in the middle of battle and just went to town.  Like Hawke said, "What is it with elves and blood magic?"

No it does not - I have this article here and it doesn't mention the word dreamer (or "Träumer" as it would be called in German) even once. ; )
Don't know where people got that idea, the only thing the article calls Solas is "an expert on the fade".

Edit: Oh, sry, just realized you're not talking about the GameStar article, sry. ^^

I think they have played out the blood mage companion card already. We had our apostates, Morrigan and Anders and our Pro-Circle, Vivi and Wynne. Dalish with Velanna and Merrill (who also covered the blood mage aspect)... So, time for something new... if it isn't a Tevinter Magister... Dreamer would be cool. They would also work well with the story, what with the Veil being all kinds of f'd up. Having a mage companion that can coach the Inquisitor on the aspects of the Fade would be beneficial and who would know the Fade better than a Dreamer?

Well, confidence is sexy and I bet it takes a lot of guts to shave your head since there's nothing to distract from your "imperfections."  Maybe that's what draws me to Solas, because he's pretty far from my usual "type" and I'm having a lot of trouble explaining it.

Rynj, I said before he could be trying to avoid notice, but I think you could be right... the baldness could draw more attention to himself.  He is kinda putting everything out there.  No hair or real pants to hide behind.

We really DO need a Tevinter magister. I'm so hoping that the Dorian concept isn't completely gone because honestly he would be the mage perspective we've never gotten before. Every magister we've seen or heard of has been some evil caricature even though it's clear that not all of them could possibly be like that. We need a companion to break that mold and provide new perspective.

and who would know the Fade better than a Dreamer?

Justice, Spirits, Demons, one of those fallen Tevinter Mages, Dragons... Sandal?

I kid, but do honestly agree.  It's not that each of those groups are overdone.  I mean, I didn't mind the whole mage rebellion. If he's a city elf, I'm fine.  If he's Dalish, I'm good too.  If he was a blood mage, I'd choke it down.  I just don't want another "I'm a blood mage because I had no choice.  Look at my nihilistic existence where everyone hates me for something the masses forced me into."  Or alternatively, "The demon promised me power to save those I wanted to help, now they want nothing to do with me."  If I had the choice, I'd stab Anders every time.  i like Elthina (sp?)

Yeah, we need some decidedly non-emo mages this time around. Vivienne is a good start I think.

Maybe the only reason we're not getting a Tevinter mage is that they're saving that companion for if and when we ever get to visit Tevinter?

Um, we only one have one "emo" mage - Anders. Merrill wasn't one, Morrigan wasn't one, and neither was Wynne.
