Eluvianix tweeted Patrick Weekes a while ago...

Mysterious language!  Would he specifically say "I prefer not to answer" if he wrote Iron Bull, or could the "sorry, no spoilers" still be referring to his own character?  I kinda read into it that someone else wrote him, but it was just a feeling.

That does sound like he didn't write him. Dang.

Well they did say it was "explosive in a good way" so maybe Vivienne and Solas bicker but not with as much true dislike between them.

I was talking about Weekes' tweets, not Kirby's. I somehow doubt they were talking about the same person, dunno why.

I was agreeing with you based on what was said in the link with more information about Vivienne. I'm not sure Solas and Viv will REALLY dislike each other. Not sure, though.

When I first read "Scotch Bonnet Candy" I just had a vague idea that it was a sweet and spicy candy (like the spicy chocolate I've had before).  Apparently the Scotch Bonnet pepper is 40 times spicier than the spiciest jalapeno and, when you candy a pepper, you cook it in syrup until much of the water is replaced by sugar.  It still looks (and burns) like a pepper, but it's sweet and flavorful.

"The chili has a slightly sweet taste to it, sort of like a tomato with an slight hint of apples and cherries. It’s very closely related to the habanero, so if you’ve tasted a habanero you’ll have a decent idea of what a Scotch bonnet has in store for you in terms of heat. Just add in more sweetness.  This sweetness makes the Scotch bonnet a very popular chili for Caribbean cooking and hot sauces. It’s a really distinct sweet-heat flavor that a lot of people love."

Now that I understand a little better, the food comparison is even more exciting ^_^

Edit:  I just read about Vivienne's food (Ortolan bunting).  Reading about the very specific way to eat it (here, starting in 4th paragraph) almost made me lose my lunch.  Vivienne just got a whole lot scarier to me.

Well, that's... something. I wonder if they both would be so intense.

I wonder if Solas and Vivienne will have an Alistair-Morrigan dynamic going on? Those two were hilarious together XD

Fan

@BioMaryKirby I can't wait to meet Vivienne. May I ask, if compare her to food, which one do you think she's most comparable to?

Mary Kirby @BioMaryKirby

@Fan The official ruling of the Writers' Pit is: Ortolan bunting.

I am really hoping to learn more about Solas soon.  I'd be jumping in the conversation more if there were more info.  Alas, there isn't.  Whether or not I think I'll play his romance, I haven't a clue, yet.  And that's assuming he's available for romance at all.  Despite his appearance and  his fondness for tight pants (look closely at the hems in the screenshot, and you'll see that they are also tattered, so maybe they're someone else's cast-offs or he had them since he was younger?), he might not necessarily be looking for love from the Inquisitor.

I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade, though.  Solas seems to be the most appealing male character thus far to me, that we know of, so I hope those who think he'll be a romance are correct.

I'm thinking he'll be an LI because, frankly, the playing field for male LI is pretty narrow. I highly doubt older grey warden or Iron Bull will be LIs. It's possible that Varric might be but I'm not counting on it too much. If Cole is a companion, he won't be an LI choice and there is only one more spot and that might go to a female character. That doesn't leave much LI wiggle room. If Cullen really is in the party he'll be one without a doubt but I'm starting to doubt that he'll be anything but a very important NPC.

Yeah, Bull was also in that picture Mr.Gaider has joked about - http://dgaider.tumbl...n-tv-poor-solas

I would picture that Solas would have more witty fights with Vivienne, while between Bull and her it could get to real animosity.

Oddly enough I kind of expect the opposite. I'm expecting Viv and Sol to be the opposite spectrums on the mage/templar war; I expect them to have the kind of vitriol for each other that Fenris and Anders had.

I certainly don't expect Viv and Iron Bull to get along, but I imagine their differences will be more shallow.

Vivienne: Steel alone will not protect you from the barbed tongues of Orlais.

Iron Bull: It will if I use it to cut those tongues out.

Solas is probably the type that looks and perhaps sounds unassuming but he IS scotch bonnet peppers. He probably will have quite a barbed tongue of his own. I can see him and Vivienne arguing just because it seems like they're polar opposites but I'm not convinced that they'll deep down, no holding back hate each other.

Or at least I hope not. Honestly, the vitriol between Fenris and Anders just got irritating after a while, mostly because their relationship didn't evolve in any way over time. It was just them bickering at the same level the whole game and it got pretty old. So I hope the DAI writers pulled a "been there, done that" in regards to characters utterly despising everything about each other.

Well, he's basically sweet and spicy.  That really makes him sound like a romance, truth be told.

If he's an apostate and Vivienne is very much a loyalist to the Chantry, then yes, they're going to have a lot of differences.  They might surprise us all and get along, but I don't know that I'd hold out much hope for that.  And if Cullen is along for the ride, well, he's going to hate Vivienne and Solas, but especially Solas, if we go by how he acted in DA2.

Sweet and spicy = best combination. It makes zero sense how much I love Solas already considering we don't know much about him but I can't help myself!

Well, honestly I kind of hope I'm wrong on this, or if I'm not, that it's handled better than the relationship between Fenris and Anders.

Wynne and Loghain hated each other, but they eventually reached some level of respect. I could see Vivienne and Solas doing the same.

I really hope it's not like Fenris and Anders. It just bothered me that their relationship didn't evolve at all over a friggin DECADE. Hell, it could have even gotten WORSE and at least that would have been mildly interesting.

I wonder what kind of apostate he is.  Is he a Circle escapee, or has he never seen the inside of one?  Is he a Dalish elf who left his clan at a young age (before the vallaslin)?  Has he been living alone in the middle of nowhere, mostly ignored by the Circle?  His view on the mage/templar conflict could vary greatly depending on the Circle's role in (or absence from) his life.

Also, I don't think Cullen would hate Vivienne just for being a mage.  We don't know his stance on the Circle as of DA:I, so they could be amicable for all we know.  Sorta playing for the same team, in a way.  Solas, however...  a fiery (hehe) apostate?  I don't think Cullen would enjoy him very much.

Ugh, if it's another Fenris/Anders thing, one or both of them will be warming the bench or maybe sleeping with the fishes. (Sorry Viv, you might not win this one)

Well, I consider their relationship degrading to constitute growth and evolution. Some people are just never going to get along.

But it was an annoying relationship. I think the problem was more that they served as mouth pieces for the central conflict of the game at the expense of their own characters. Vivienne, however much I dislike her, does seem far more well rounded a character than Fenris is. Time will tell if we could say the same for Solas compared to Anders.

The thing is, I don't even think it degraded all that much. To me, their relationship was just static the entire game but it remained static at a place that was already annoying. I don't think they hated each other by end game any more than they hated each other at the start. If the relationship had gotten bad to the point where they were literally trying to attack each other by the end regardless of what Hawke thought, THAT would have been interesting.

Needless to say that dynamic would not be welcome in Dragon Age Inquisition, at least not to me.

Yeah, they might very well be on the opposite spectrums, but i doubt Vivienne would be as extreme in her views as those 2 were. That's why i don't think there will be as much hate.

You mean fist fight? Because that would kinda the level of "getting worse" with what they had.

I don't think she'll be as extreme, but I have no doubt she'll be no less passionate and adamant about it.

And the problem with a Fenris/Anders fist fight, I think, is that there's no way you can justify Anders not getting his ass kicked, which I can't imagine Anders fans would be happy about.

No way! Justice would be out in two seconds flat and then I'd be worried more about Fenris's survival! I mean, Anders got stabbed through the chest while merged with Justice and it did almost nothing.

Frankly, we don't know much about level of Fenris' survival either, considering he could phase. And from gameplay viewpoint - yeah, Anders wouldn't get a chance.

But that doesn't really matter, since all of the companions were venting out on Hawke.

Well never get to play as "Justice" and when Justice takes over, Anders seems to get vastly more powerful. I personally think Justice'd Anders would beat Fenris but it's not like they'd ever get that far anyways. Hawke would have to step in.

See, that's my point; it would cease to be a "fist fight" as soon as Justice got involved or Fenris started phasing or Anders started casting.
